  In April 2014, I bought a product key of Windows 7 from a business online apparently good reputation (good reviews when searched online). Windows has a download and product key worked and I have not had a problem until a few weeks when the operating system has started posting messages saying: this copy of Windows is not genuine.   I know I'm not the one with this problem.  Unfortunately, I do not yet have the solution.  My laptop was purchased new directly from Dell with Windows already installed.  I bought it in 2010 and Windows worked fine up until now.  If checked.  I'm computer illiterate, but I followed the instructions to validate diagnoses.  Looks like a Greek to me!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Thought that posting an update to this topic in case someone is looking for answers.  When I first posted, I found a ton of people on several boards of Directors of the messages having the same problem.  Hope this helps someone else.

  I'm not a technology person, so I solved this on a fluke.  I have been restarted my computer and decided to launch in safe mode.  From there, I installed Windows again (I had tried this several times in normal mode and never succeeded).  For reasons unknown to me, it worked!  For a few days, I got tons of updates when I stop or start, but he worked like a charm.  I have not received a single error message, and it has been more than two months.  I hope that means, it's fixed, but I won't hold my breath.

  I've had my TOSHIBA Satellite L40-139 for more than a year. She was purchased by PC World and came with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista Edition Home Premium. I don't have the disc that came with the laptop, but the Windows installed is genuine.

  I went to install Vista Service Pack 2 after you download. I restarted my laptop only to find my desktop wallpaper disappeared and was replaced with a black background and the following text in the lower right of the desktop:

  Your model of laptop is not delivered with the recovery disk, but with recovery image stored on the HARD drive. In s manuals document clearly describes that you must fund recovery DVD only tool preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator.

  Version of the OS pre-installed (Toshiba recovery image factory settings) is definitely authentic and I really don t understand how it can happen. I mean thousands of people do the same update, and there is no other claim on similar problems.

  Anyway, if you didn t create recovery disk you can try now is to reinstall the OS using the HDD recovery procedure. How to do this you can read in document http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm Toshiba FAQ
  This will remove all HARD drive, extract second partition so if you have some important data backup.
