Hello
If it's a DVD-ROM and CD - RW "combo", then you will not be able to burn DVDs with the device, only the CD.
The front of the tray has normally symbols tell you what features are supported.

Burn DVDs with Imac 2015...
Hello Forum,
I just updated my Imac 2011 and bought a newer Imac 2015 and I forgot it doesn't have a DVD/CD player. Question I'm looking for recommendations on what to buy to be able to burn DVDs, play, DVD and CD. I have customers who still use the DVD and need to burn and create menus that I am probably able to do with DVD Studio Pro?
Thank you!

Apple sells an external USB optical drive specifically for use with models that do not come with an optical drive. You will find in the store.

Hello
Don't you know that the use of the incorrect firmware or not is not compatible would be detrimental to your CD/DVD drive?
You should only use the firmware provided by Toshiba.I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and found 6 different firmware updates.
There are updates for the reader:
TS-L633P, TS-L633A DVRTD08A, DVRTD08L, TS-L632P TS-L632HYou got the message because it seems that you used the wrong firmware or is not compatible!
So if you want to Flash the firmware using the Toshiba files European page:

1800 514 does not start with the new dvd/CD-RW drive
My old dvd - rom on my toshiba s1800-514 drive was broken, so I had to replace it. I used an old teac as a temporary replacement cd-rom drive. but now, I bought a new dvd/CD-RW-drive combo (toshiba sd-r2612). but the laptop does not seem to post, I get the "toshiba" screen (when it says press f12 to select boot device). but it stops there and does nothing. I can open the player, it seems to be connected ok.
Why won't it work? (only the bios setting which applies is one that I can't change...). the drive is nine ar so small chance it's already broken.
What should do?
Hello
A few weeks ago one of my friends also had a problem with his replacement new drive. He wanted to move the DVD/CD player to a DVD burner.
The only thing he had to do was change the master/slave settings!

Satellite A660 - optical driver turns off when burning DVD
I have a problem with the optical drive of energy saving options that disables the drive while burning.
I tried all the suggestions mentioned here [http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Satellite-Laptops-A-Series/Optical-drive-automatically-turns-off-due-to-power-saver/td-p/223654], but it does not help.
I start at the burn in Ashampoo Burning Studio free, and he seems to be good until the end. When it starts the process of lead-out the popup of the optical signals Drive Power drive is turned off. It's funny because it is still running at the speed of combustion and it will not stop. The reader becomes unresponsive, even I can't the DVD out. Even, that it disappears from the list of devices.
The only way I thought so far to stop the car and release the DVD is in the shutdown/Hibernate the computer.
Once the dive starts working again the STRANGE Fn-tab functionality started working and I can turn it on/Off/ejection at will.
All the burned DVD - s are not valid, and so far I have not managed to burn a single functional DVD.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 - PSAW3E with Win7 Enterprise 64-bit.
Is there a way to fix this? Remove the optical drive power management?
Hello
To be honest I have never heard of this issue, but it appears that the optical drive power management is part of the power of Toshiba configuration utility.
Part of the Toshiba value added package configuration done Toshiba power utility. What you can try, for testing purposes, to remove the Toshiba added value of the system package, restart your computer and try to burn DVDs again to see if the same problem will occur again.
Toshiba value added package contains several tools such as utility cards flash FN so after his withdrawal, you will not be able to use the FN keys. In any case, after that trial, you can download and install Toshiba value added package again.
I mean, I know what kind of conflict is there, but maybe you should consider it.

Qosmio G20-118: Multi drive is not burning DVDs
Hi guys,.
This day I have never been able to burn a DVD with music files from itunes (in the form of data) using my G20-118, although I have no problem what to do in my old office. I have tried several different DVDs without success. Everything seems to go smoothly until the last dry when there is an error. I had the same problem that burn DVDs with Sonic. Finally, my drive rarely reads CD of music stored on other computers. It also came with data CD, although rarely.
Do I have a defective disk? This CD/DVD that you tried and must work on my system?
Thank you very much!
PedroHello
I don't think it's a compatibility issue with the disks because the player accepts and then displays an error.
For me, this looks like a bad drive, but perhaps you must first reinstall the driver or the whole system.
Good bye

Satellite A100-011 with Vista: DVD-ram UJ-850 s can not burn DVDs dual layer
Hello
cannot find answers to my problem, so start a new topic.
Having Satellite A100-011 with Vista preinstalled and Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-850 s (firmware 1.10).Recently installed Nero 7.5.9 and you want to burn DVD (6, 5 GB) media dual layer (Immation - Ritek).
First time Nero stopped with information: could not perform start of Disc At Once (without damaging the media).
After that, run Nero as Windows XP - SP2 program and burn half the disc (first layer), but when to start to burn the second layer (I guess), stop once again with the same error information (could not perform start of DAO).Simple disc burning layer without problem.
Anyone any idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you
LuciHello
tried to record double-layer of a different brand? Maybe you should try it, because sometimes certain brands are not really taken in charge or not very well. And check the toshiba (or google) pilot site for new drivers or firmware for this drive, sometimes that it really helps.
I think that the media are not really compatible, I ve read some similar problems in the roxio forum and they solved by using another brand.
Would be nice if you give some information on this case... :)
Welcome them

Satellite M40: Power calibration error - drive cannot burn DVD - RW more
My drive is a carpet * an oem UJ - 831S. After a screw-up partitioning job, I had to format my HD and reinstall Windows XP... and then I can not burn DVD - RW more.
Tried many programs such as Nero and a fireman, gives an error of calibration of power from the beginning.
Burning CD - r and CD - RW no problem however, and I can read CDs and DVDs of movies very well.Google and searched for a month without success, tried to blow the laser lens, but there is no dust, I tried different media, etc. I know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincedence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.
An interesting note however, my laptop has not been provided with a CD of Toshiba, so I had to reinstall manually more drivers by downloading the Toshiba site, so I have a funny feeling, this could be a thing of the software/firmware, or even a framework.
I installed the new firmware 1.02 for the reader as well. I don't remember what the firmware was before resettlement, IE the laptop computer settings to factory default, I'd like to downgrade to 1.00 if possible.
Experts have ideas? And is there a way I can reset the firmware?
Maybe I could remove the drive from the system-> devices and let XP Reinstall for me?
Hello
> I don't know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincidence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.
Of course, it s simply to say the drive is dead because everything looks like a hardware malfunction. Most often the power calibration error appears because of the drive lens can't calibrate in the right position and thus cannot read some CD or DVD s s or it of not possible to write about them.
But maybe you are a lucky man and might try this procedure:
-Try to remove the drive physically from the Bay for laptop
-Restart the unit without the drive
-In this case the operating system should start from the HARD drive
-Close the notebook then reinsert the drive unit in the Bay of s for laptop
During initialization, the laptop should recognize the drive and must pick up the firmwareThen you can check if you can burn the DVD again, otherwise you will need a new drive

Satellite P10: The drive will not burn DVD
Hope someone can help me,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P10 and have just received some photos software, burning
But my drive will not burn DVD, I try with discs DVD - RW which must work my laptop.
What is happening is when it comes of the burn on the part of the disk of the process he starts, but it fails.I tried to burn it with Nero, but even if I burn OK on any CD discs with this software it will not work on DVD discs. It's really annoying because when the burning process it fails so that it makes the DVD - RW disc seem curupt and then my drive has problems mounting the disc to try a deletion once more.
I have the Nero log file failed
Done if it's any help to anyone.A big thank you Michael.
Hello
What about different DVD media? Have you tested the media DVD-R or DVD + R common?
Have you tried different brands of DVD?
I can't give you a properly answer why the drive can't burn your DVD - RW, but to my knowledge not every media is supported by the player.
So I think you should check different DVDs. -

Hello
Have you tried to close all programs and then insert the disc in the drive?
You have disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (burn CD & DVD and CD and DVD read).
Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
CD have a tolerance + - and you have to write on the side outside their tolerance. They can be given
However, it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

Try this troubleshooting:
Step 1: Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Cannot burn DVD-R with my Satellite P100-342
I bought a Satellite P100-342 two years ago. Some time after I tried to burn DVD + R and it was impossible, so I sent it to Toshiba. A few weeks later, when they returned to my laptop I saw that I can burn DVD + R, but it was not possible to burn a DVD-R.
I tried with many manufacturers of DVD - R, but no one works.
I checked my DVD multi recorder (HL-DT-ST-DVD RAM GMA-408N) with Nero Info Tools and it checks ON items: DVD + R and DVD-R. It shows that system ASPI are not installed and I don't know if that's the problem.
My OS is Windows MCE.
Will you help me, please?

I use discs Verbatim always and never had any problems with it. You may also try verbatim and post workout.

I get an error when I burn DVDs with windows media player. He asked correctly when I lad the DVDs that I choose to burn a dvd disc. Then I add my video fles she adds and lists. Then I hit burn and it starts to create the dvd disc. All my files are wmv files. The bar regarding % moves to 100% but captured along with burning the disc, he rejected and I get an unspecified error message. with just a button to hit, which will close the error box. The files don't burn the disk accordingly. The disc remains empty.
Hi N2tjq,
Are a. When you facing this problem?
B. is - what happens with all DVDs?
C. recent changes made on the computer?
I firstly you suggests to save the project to your computer, and then try to burn on a DVD at a slower burning speed.
Choose a speed slower burn to your DVD recorder as follows:
1 back to adding photos and video to the DVD page and then click on Options.
2. in the DVD burner speed box, select medium or slow.
