I got a survey of users of Firefox saying I won something, is it a scam?
A separate window jumped upwards and said: "congratulations, you have won the 2014 (Houston) annual visitor survey. I answered the questions in the survey, and then he gave me the choice of 3 prizes. That's where I stopped and realized that this could be a scam any. Firefox even done this kind of thing, because it seems really well done. If not, is there a way to declare this as a scam? If I win something, that's fine, but I want to assure you that it is safe first.
Thank youHello, unfortunately you are right to be wary of this. This seems to be a tactic of the scam and no real messages by firefox or mozilla, since we run this type of business or promotions, we focus on great software products development instead!
Maybe that's a problem caused by adware on your pc. Please go to Tools > addons > extensions and remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, the things that you have not installed intentionally, I don't know what purpose they serve, etc.).
Remove a toolbar that has supported your Firefox or the homepage search
Fix Firefox problems caused by malicious softwareIf it's a site that uses the firefox brand to draw attention or misleading users to participate in these surveys, you can report as a violation of the mozilla brand to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so that other measures can be taken in this regard.
Thank you!

They are cold, you try to pick up the 'business' calling
It's a scam.
Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

pop up kept appearing on the lower right of the computer saying I had infections more 5 000. He showed my company logo protection antivirus (AVG) and because the computer was slow and freezing I connected. He registered a phone number to call for help. I called, explained my problem and the man said: I'll connect you with a technician. I specifically asked if he was in this country, and he said he was in Connecticut. The reason I asked was because I am deaf it made it difficult to understand people with accents. I really thought that I was speaking with moy. After many hours remotely connected to my computer, my computer was worse than before that I called him shaped and $ 120.00. I called AVG to complain and told me that I was probably being scammed and to check with my Bank and credit company to have all changed. Of course, I took care of him. The Bank assured me they would check on "GuruAid" and yesterday I received an email from them (GuruAid), say that there is no charge.
I am never in a situation like this, once again. My question is: How can I make sure I have need of aid is a legitimate technician. Seems many companies can fool you into believing that you talk with a legitimate business.

They wanted to solve a problem with windows, when I called them back.
I asked for her phone number - 315-633-3442
Gave them no information - but they didn't know my name.
Feels like a scam...
Thank you

I received a call from this company who identified themselves as microsoft technical support. They say that my computer was sending a generated message that my system is infected with a virus and all my personal and financial information might be stollen. They sound so convincing so I let them take control of my computer. They showed me all the error messages and the files associated with the virus and that fixed it. Unfortunetly, I didn't know that it was a victim of a scam until middle of what they called was a repair when they asked for money. Before I knew it, the Western Union site with an application of transfer of money opened before my eyes and he had most of my references already filled in. They even created a password for me. I refused to give them my credit card information and ask that they give me a number so that I can call to make sure it was legitimate. When I told them that I call microsoft and ask them about this service, I was put on hold and I can hear the person talking to me was in the background to someone else (they both speak with accents)... To make a long story short, they have blocked my computer with an administrative password and told me that I can never use this computer again unless I pay them. I hung up on them, I told them ok and they gave me the password so that I could type in my credit card information. I copied the password with no intention of giving them my credit card information and hung up the phone. All of a sudden I restarted my computer closing down and when I was invited again the administrative password they used to crash my computer. I used and was able to get on my computer. I'm afraid they're watching my system everytime I connect so I erased all my personal files and information. My question is how can I take that block off of my computer?

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.
This can help you (download files and make your own DVDs):
http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I just read the previous comments on Logmein123 and have had a similar experience. The contact was a Mark Browne and their phone number was 0208 0999 162. Apparently, I have problems with my computer and quoted me 'EVENTVWR' to see the red and yellow that prove that I have problems. I explained that I didn't notice the problems described, but on we went at breakneck speed logging on to a website and almost downloading some software. Fortunatel it did not work and finally I had the time to say NO!
So if it is a scam, why is it still happeneing? It's late June now and the previous entries were February!

There seems to be a serious scam involving a suit called "Techon Support"
original title: TECHON SUPPORT SCAM TARGET WINDOWS USERS
It seems to be a serious scam involving a suit called 'Techon Support', which are plausible and persistent, and claim to be working on behalf of Microsoft. They seek to have access to your computer and seek to be charged £60 for an extended software warranty. Please tell us what people should therefore if they became victims of this scam, ensure that the computer is safe.
You should pay no attention to the crooks and go to any of the sites that they suggest and don't download any files or spare they send and essentially ignore them. And certainly not pay money. They are NOT Microsoft - Microsoft doesn't do business like that. You must also report it to the authorities (the police) so they can try to track down those criminals who cause damage even more before all is said and done.
You can also report it to the internet crime complaint center if necessary.

There was a week when all computers were crashing? Isn't also well - all that is that the mass is usually false - play on your fears that you are in the same situation as everyone else - but 'someone' has the solution and it will cost you only...
Have you contacted your banks, credit bureaus credit business andf card to let them know that you were locked into a scam? That is your identity may be at risk?
Did you change all your passwords online and offline and to the format of your machine - restore to factory settings?
You must do all this.
Except if you initiate the call - well - just hang on cold-calls. If a company is desperate to get customers, they call you - they may not be good at what they do, or you would have heard from them by other means - something better than disturning * you * directly at home.

Phone call from Microsoft windows scam
Hello
I received a phone call saying he was Microsoft Windows and there are system reported that my computer was full of viruses and malware, and they said that my computer was sending viruses in e-mails that they lock my email account in order to protect others. They knew my name and said they could make me a lot if I could prove that I was learned as they need my bank details to level from 4 years of life support that will continue with new computers to replace old. I stupidly gave details as he said that if I did it would install antivirous in the computer as a dinner he says my current software wasn't good.
Then he forced me to enable remote assistance and took me to the purchase for Business Package of distance page help for New World Services Inc. and forced me to enter my data I did. After completing the session, I received an email of New World Services Inc., saying that I had bought the business package and looking upward found only for four years. I then went to my Bank and the cashier told me it was a scam and I got mannaged to cancel the card before it empied my account although New World Services Inc. did take £252.00 my account and told them about the scam and that I don't want there services and do not call me.
I always get calls saying they are Microsoft Windows or they are malicious and calling about my computer with virus software and when I don't, thank you and hung up there have been moments when someone else says the exact same words as little as an hour later, well that people call regularly as now I know most of them as soon as they speak.
They installed ammyy to allow access through my firewall to send windows logs them so with selected McAfee frirwall and ammyy blocked as they had shown me the observer of events the adminastrative events and said cuircles reds are virouses and yellow triangles are malware. When I said that the red circle is when I did a forced when troubleshooting stop where I pressed the button for a few seconds.
Then I got a phone call saying could I turn on my computer as the info from my computer that has virouses and malware had said. If blocking ammyy had worked as before they were able to tell red any yellow order of events. So I then removed my computer ammyy and that they would not receive the ball more.
When after I dial to get phone calls not the last call, I get when they called and get that they do not have the number of appellants and it has afflicted me that sometimes there was as little as an hour between calls, it seems I'd barr the number of fraudsters and barr New World Services Inc. If they continue to call and if need be I have to change my phone number.
1. contact your credit card company, if you had given the scammer, your credit card number.
-Cancel the card and ask for a replacement with different identification number.
-If you have paid the scammer with your credit card. The card has been compromised.2. contact your bank.
-Change the account.
-Change the PIN code.3. If you saw the crook of remote access to your computer, it is compromised.
-Reinstall Vista
-Use another user name and password.4. talk to your local law enforcement... If you want to go that far.
-Ask to speak to people in the Department of wire fraud. See if something can be done about it.5. change the phone number.
-Scammers will call you. They will not stop. -

INSIDE JOB "DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT" BASED IN INDIA HAS A SCAM
HelloI am writing because I was the victim of what I believe, it's a "Dell inside job" in this scam of technical support for users of computers Dell off warranty or expired support based in INDIA. I've been a customer of DELL since 2003, was always the best technology support without problem, even when I called once about 7 years ago they cleaned up my computer for $49.00 which was ok with me without any problem. I bought an all in one computer in 2012, with 3 years of support. My problem started when I called DELL April 2016 of course didn't help because my computer was not covered, they wanted me to pay $89.00 a service of time, at this time there what I wanted was to get my computer to windows 8.1, I wasn't happy with 10, my computer was working fine. A week later, I started getting calls from ladies with Hindu accent claiming to be from Dell who want to help me fix my computer. I was always busy, and I told them that I not had time to seat 2 hours to do. They called it forth, until the day exactly a 29/08/16 months ago, I had the time to fix my computer slow and accepted their offer. He gave his guarantee Id # DELL9929 its name: Eric Thomas with a Hindu accent, I asked him: are you really from Dell? He reassured me that it was, they were getting signals from my computer that something was wrong. I thought because my computer after this call in April started to have more and more slow. He wanted to have access to my computer which is the only way they can fix it, I gave him access he installed an internet to analyze and clean security program call them KAPERSKY, he began to clear the files etc. According to him clean my computer. I made it clear I was not buying anything, he said no worries we do it because we have too many alerts to your computer. He told me he was going to monitor my computer for a week that he will call me Monday. I didn't go on my bank account or check e-mails because I felt that they looked at me, but instead of Monday he called me on Friday, so I told her that I don't have confidence in him. As soon as I hung up to 02/09/16 I called said Dell TECH SUPPORT what happened, to my great surprise this Hindu guy named Muthu Chidambaram Service Request: 935549938 has acted as he was aware of the scam, told me he's going to clean my computer for $89.00 service time or $239.00 per year. He also told me that I needed better security that he had one that was best for $249.99. I paid the $89.00 did not buy anything, but when I went to the Dell website to find a security software they had some for as low as $14,99 as it was the labor day weekend. I wonder why he tried to sell me one so expensive? As soon as I suspended with DELL, I went into my email to find that I had been charged by PayPal $450,00 leave DEN SUPPORT, called 801-829-7424 # imposter ask my money back either. PayPal and my Bank got my money, but it does not stop there. Why do I say is an inside job? 5 days after calling DELL TECH taking charge on 02/09/16, once again I received a call to a different number I gave only Muthu to contact me in case we were disconnected my phone Earth when it was fix my computer, the guy also Hindu told me exactly the same thing others had said in so many calls : They received signals. After you fix my computer Muthu asked me to respond to his email if I had more problems with my computer. My computer started acting again when I answered by Muthu email because I need help, he never responded, but when I called the 09/09/16 DELL SUPPORT because my computer was not at beginning, they wanted me to pay again, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, Rajeev (name of Tech) told me I had to pay $39.00 to talk to a supervisor which is something that I have never heard in my life, dealing with many companies. I was upset and told him they were running a scam, an inside job of the technical support because everyone involved was based in India, I told Rajeev history and he said that I was going to go further. 13/09/16, I got a call from DELL, a supervisor called Hindu Dave too, not too sweet. I told him about the scam from inside DELL, suddenly, he said: "I can refund your $89.00, you can call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT so they can fix your computer". I got the $89.00. My computer does not work. I'm afraid to call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT because they do the same thing again, their scam's with Dell Support off users guaranteed because they can make money in this way. I think they get a bonus if they sell us more, so our computer will never work as they should, because they want to keep us reminded. If we fall into their trap, like I did, you call DELL to fix our computer every time. A SCAM. They have our computer tag #, all of our personal information. Scary. I think the enamel of Muthu, I answered, was something that has infected my computer. Long story, but true.
Read thisand follow the link to report your problem to Dell for investigation.
