Has anyone been scammed by a company that identified themselves as microsoft and use teamviewer to take control of your pc

I received a call from this company who identified themselves as microsoft technical support. They say that my computer was sending a generated message that my system is infected with a virus and all my personal and financial information might be stollen. They sound so convincing so I let them take control of my computer. They showed me all the error messages and the files associated with the virus and that fixed it.  Unfortunetly, I didn't know that it was a victim of a scam until middle of what they called was a repair when they asked for money.  Before I knew it, the Western Union site with an application of transfer of money opened before my eyes and he had most of my references already filled in. They even created a password for me.  I refused to give them my credit card information and ask that they give me a number so that I can call to make sure it was legitimate. When I told them that I call microsoft and ask them about this service, I was put on hold and I can hear the person talking to me was in the background to someone else (they both speak with accents)... To make a long story short, they have blocked my computer with an administrative password and told me that I can never use this computer again unless I pay them. I hung up on them, I told them ok and they gave me the password so that I could type in my credit card information. I copied the password with no intention of giving them my credit card information and hung up the phone.  All of a sudden I restarted my computer closing down and when I was invited again the administrative password they used to crash my computer.  I used and was able to get on my computer.  I'm afraid they're watching my system everytime I connect so I erased all my personal files and information. My question is how can I take that block off of my computer?

Hello

It's a scam.

We have all the errors and warnings in our observer of events and our computers do NOT send messages to anyone

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

As you gave them remote access and if you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords. As you use your online credit card, cancel it and get a new one issued you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

Read this Information from Microsoft:

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

This can help you (download files and make your own DVDs):

http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Has anyone seen a fax USB modem that works with Windows Fax and Scan?

So far I'm 0 for 2.  PC Fax modems seem to be a lost art.  A few months ago, I tried a USB fax modem and tested the receipt of the fax.  The modem answers the phone, the fax sender starts the transmission and... nothing happens.  Eventually, the sender times out with an error.   Same computer, same Windows Fax and Scan software, with an old modem connected to a serial port, all works well.  Modem manufacturer was not able to help.

And now the same problem with another PC, the modem is different, different situation.  This time I don't have an easy fallback to a serial port.

And that leads to my question - no matter that matter where in fact seen a fax-modem USB in the field send and receive faxes using Windows Fax and Scan on Windows 7, and if yes, what was the make and model?

    Thank you

    -Greg Scott

    Hello Greg,.

    Thanks for the quick response.

You can view the reviews of the product in the manufacturer's Web site and see if that helps.

Also for the Windows Fax and Scan, when your PC or computer would be equipped with a fax modem (or connected to a fax server), it can send and receive documents such as a standalone device. Windows Fax and Scan even includes a handy tool for the design of custom cover pages.

  • Has anyone created a script opened on that charge action games?

I still get tired, with Illustrator do not remember running a script in the scripts menu, after that Illustrator is closed. Whenever I open it I need to run a script, and then reload recorded actions so that I can use my scripts easier.

If someone created a script that runs at startup of illustrator, runs a menu script, and then recorded actions loads? If not, anyone know if this is possible, as I will probably create.

    I had the following approach.

You should always run a script, but now you have to do it once and also rely on some folders inside your folder My Documents.

Re: Action: "Insert a Menu item" Script still not save CS6

You can probably do an auto-hotkey or Applescript to show the file menu if, and I'm pretty lazy / do not use a lot of actions with scripts, where reloading only in this way is tolerable.

A company called vap technology called me last night on my phone at home and said to my computer was about to crash. they were Indian speaking people and said they were working for microsoft support; as I am not a laptop user profficent of long date, I couldn't tell if they were or not. How to get back money from $149, I paid them to fix the problems and how to uninstall the programs they put on my laptop; also what can I use to tell if it's a microsoft technology? Help!

    It is a scam. See:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx .

If they have access to your PC, they can install any number of malicious programs. My recommendation is to do a clean reinstall of Windows - it's the only way to be sure that your system is clean.

If you have them paid by credit card, tell your card provider immediately what has happenend.

All the data on your computer (passwords, credit card numbers, numbers of account documents, etc.) may have been compromised (they may not know now). According to the companies concerned (for example your bank) what happened.

Use another PC to change passwords.

    Consider telling your local police.

  • Has anyone been contacted and said Homeland Security said that your pc has malware on it and all of your personal information has been accessed?

Received a letter today from federal financial assistance, saying Homeland Security them informed I had checked my federal FA on a computer with malware, I can't find it on my pc, but they said that someone had access to all of my personal info, this happened to someone else?  I then went to www.onguardonline.gov letter told me, and he said that he had been hacked and that it was disconnected for a while... I scanned my pc with Norton, Windows Defender and then I just use the Microsoft Safety scan and it said that I have nothing on my pc... I don't know what is happening.  Help?

    Hello

Looks like the enamel could be a scam and the computer could be infected by virus or malware.  I am able to access this site without problem.

I suggest you to run a complete system scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Also, if the email you are prompted to respond you with any kind of personal information, not to give any information which is definitely a scam.

  • Has anyone received a call indicating that it was Windows and there was a threat to my computor... They said that someone hacked my computer and used it to hack other computers.

The call came about 15:00 central standard time.  The first call was from a female.  I thought it was a telemarketer and asked to be removed from their list and hung up.  Almost immediately, a man called back.  The identification of the appellant did State not available and any number of qriginating.  The appellant said I might have trouble because of the intruder.  They would help me get rid of the program that was on my computer.  I refused assistance and asked not to be called again.  The person called one more time and my husband spoke to them.  Wharton is?  Microsaft Windows tried to call me, or is this SIN?

It is phishing, a scam and happened to thousands. Microsoft would never call you, and no one would know if your computer has a problem that needs fixing. The people who called wanted to pirate.

  • Has anyone been able to Stand Up Essbase Analytics link (EAL) for financial management in version 11.1.2.2?

Anyone no matter what chance standing places the link Analytics Essbase (EAL) for the purposes of financial management in 11.1.2.2?  We are at the point where when you click on 'Create the Bridge Application' it creates an application and a database in the EA and then blocks the Hyperion Essbase Analytics Link - Web Application Server.  Before this we were receiving an error NetRetry and NetDelay and increased, these parameters are do not receive the same mistakes.  I'm curious to know if 11.1.2.2 there's even a functional version of EAL or if we are out of luck until the next version.  Any comment is appreciated.

FYI, we were able to raise the EAL and running after adding the following entries in the registry on our servers...

    Solution

This timeout issue can be fixed by adding two TCP/IP registry settings, but first you must identify the customer who communicated with essbase when the time-out period exceeded so that you know which machine to add the settings.  If all the EAL and EMP components are installed on a single machine, while the machine would also host the client.  If the products are installed in a distributed environment, you determine the client machine depending on how the Essbase EAL server component is defined.

The URL of the APS is part of the Analytics Server Essbase in EAL definition link.

If (APS URL) value is "incorporated" means that the application EAL server communicates via the JAPI directly with the Essbase server. In this case the EAL AppServer is the client to the Essbase server. In this case, the following registry settings tcpip need to go on the computer running the application EAL server.

If the value of (APS URL) is http://serverName:13080/aps/JAPI then the EAL Application Server communicates by way of Hyperion provider of Services (APS). In this case queries EAL proxies to and from the Essbase by APS Server. This means that the APS is the client to the Essbase server and registry settings tcpip need to go on the machine running Hyperion service provider.

Once you have determined what machine acts as a customer of essbase, set the TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30 and MaxUserPort = 65534 settings via the windows registry.

    1. open the Windows registry.

    2. go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters.

    3. Add the new DWORD value named "TcpTimedWaitDelay.
    -Right click and select Edit
-Select "decimal" radio button, type 30.

    4. Add the new DWORD value called MaxUserPort
    -Right click and select Edit
-Select "decimal" radio button, type 65534

    5. a server restart is necessary.
