Buy VMWare Fusion 6 yesterday

I hope that there is some sort of grace period where a user gets the new version for free. If someone has been in this situation?

From this page:

VMware KB: VMware Fusion 7.0 sales, licenses and compatibility FAQ (2081968)

Try contacting support, it says TGP if for people who bought 6 Fusion of 01/08/2014 ~ 30/09/2013 I don't think that is correct.

Technology guarantee program FAQ (TGP)

What is the technology guarantee program?

VMware provides a free copy of VMware Fusion 7.x if you bought a copy of Fusion 6 at the Store VMware or a VMware reseller between August 1, 2014 and on September 30, 2013.

How can I get my VMware Fusion 7.x license key, if I'm in the eligibility period?

  • If you have purchased VMware Fusion 6 electronically VMware or a VMware reseller during this period, you will automatically receive a new license key VMware Fusion 7.x by e-mail by September 30, 2014. In addition, the license keys will be delivered to your My VMware account and you can find the keys to the new folder called technology guarantee program and other measures are not required to receive the upgrade.
  • If you have purchased a VMware Fusion 6 through a dealer of VMware in this period, you need to present your license keys and supporting purchase online before October 31, 2014. Allow up to 30 days to receive your free electronic upgrade to VMware Fusion 7.x. For more information about sending all the required documentation, refer to the guide to VMware Fusion.

Note: the previous link was correct as of September 3, 2014. If you find the link is broken, provide feedback and a VMware employee updates the link.

  • Buy VMware Fusion 7, but the v5 download and run the merger also?

I looked on the website of VMware, but impossible to find the answer to this question:

A customer can purchase VMware Fusion version 7 (the current version) but also to download and run an earlier version of VMware Fusion (for example, merger v5) for temporary use? Here's an example scenario:

    * A VMware customer has two Macs. One is an old Mac running Snow Leopard, and the other is a new Mac running Mavericks or Yosemite. The customer wants to use the new Mac, go ahead (and give the old Mac). The client runs even a few applications that are not supported on what it is later than Snow Leopard (for example PowerPC applications). The obvious solution is to run these applications in a guest of Snow Leopard Server in VMware Fusion on the new Mac.

    * The problem is that Snow Leopard Server does not install as a guest operating system on the recent Mac models of the client, but it can run an existing Snow Leopard Server prompt that was created on an older Mac.

    * The client has this old Snow Leopard Mac. Unfortunately, it won't run VMware Fusion 7. It will run in VMware Fusion version 5, however. The customer wants to run VMware Fusion 5 on the old Mac to create the Snow Leopard Server on old Mac prompt, then copy the comments for the new Mac where it can run under VMware Fusion 7.

    HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

--> How can the customer buy VMware Fusion 7, but also to download a copy of VMware Fusion 5 for this operation 'create a Snow Leopard Server prompt' unique on the old Mac?

-> Will VMware provide a Fusion 5 license when the trial period expires on the old Mac before the customer can get a Snow Leopard Server comments work?

I sent you this link last night via Message private and also posted in your other thread on the subject.  You should be able to use as disk utility here: create a disk image of physical Mac OS X install media.

If this process fails to create an image that starts on your newer Mac, please let us know, as this is a question we want to address.  I'm not aware of any circumstances which require a downgrade from Fusion 5 install Snow Leopard Server.

    Thank you

  • Buy VMWare Fusion 7 now?

    Hello!

I bought a Mac and you want to use a virtual machine now. I thought about buying the merger, but I don't know if its worth because I think that this year will come a new OS X and Windows 10 - I want to use both (at least OS X).

I don't want to buy an update in a few months bcs just with a new OS X. Is Fusion 7 my right choice? It will get the updates for the new OS X?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the community,

VMware Fusion 6 is released in September 2013, Fusion 7 in September 2014. Assuming that the next major version will be available later this year, it's for you to decide if you want to wait.

  • VMWare Fusion (trial) vs Parallels (currently own)

    Hello

I need a virtual machine to run Win ME on my iMac (Leopard 10.5.7) 24 "3.06 ghz with Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS.

I have win me or Win 98 to run my Oxford English Dictionary CD-ROM 2nd ed. worm. 2 (this isn't any dictionary - cost me about $400 in 2000). That is why only that I have to run a PC! I can just barely run the OED in Parallels. Parallels does not support Win 98 or Win Me. Do not load the virtual tools; the display is only 16 colors... Victoire Me sucks Parallels. BUT at least the OED will work on Parallels (even if in a sad state). I want to buy VMWare because Win Me over like a champ and looks a lot like VMWare Fusion. It all seemed too good to be true that I explored the trial I downloaded VMware. Well, it was too good to be true. VMware, the OED CD-ROM Cdilla Safedisc 1 protection will not allow the data disk must be authenticated.

Why, why charge Parallels the OED on Win ME without problems of authentication, but VMWare can not? (The OED also worked well on Virtual PC, 4, 5 and 6.)

If anyone can help get VMware to load my copy legally purchased of the OED, I buy VMWare Fusion in blink of an eye.

BTW, I'm not the only user of the OED facing this problem. There are others on other forums on the internet who wants to hear that their beloved OED can be run with VMWare without having to buy the new version of the OED. The charge to their former owners of the OED for the new native Mac version of the OED is $ 295. (There is no price upgrade for Mac users because it was not a Mac version of the OED since the beginning of the 1990s. Only Windows versions that are entangled with the atrocious Cdilla Safedisc protection were on the market. Therefore, run the OED on a virtual PC. Yes, Yes, another sad story. )

Hope that there is no help there. I'm used to my own problems, but I am confused as to why VMWare which seems so much better than Parallels to handling Win ME can not open the OED as painless as Parallels.

I can't wait to start an arms race, but you can try adding the following to your virtual machine configuration file:

    monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"

If this does not work, try the following:

    monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware"

In both cases, you must remove these configuration options once you have completed the installation.

  • Please help - my version of VMware fusion is to old to be upgraded. If I buy the new version can I transfer my existing set up?

So I installed my Mac at El Captian & annoyingly my version of VMware fusion (5.0.3) is no longer supported and will not open.

Even more annoyingly VMware fusion offer upgrades to the new version for those who use the version 6 or later.

In any case, big question if I buy the new version is there a way I can still access my current setup?

Would like if someone could let me know. I am self employed & I've got software out there that are vital for work :/

    Hello

Welcome to the VMware communities forum.

There is no problem with the Fusion 8 recognizing of your virtual machines to Fusion 5 (or more), it will go just pick up where you left off.

There are a few borderline cases, as it officially you should have your virtual machines closed and not suspended and preferably without clichés before upgrading to a newer version of the merger. However, in practice I saw real topics with that either.

Note that it is recommended to backup your virtual machines before going any further. Do this by copying them to an external drive (not dependent on time machine for backups of virtual machines) and then disconnect the drive.

You can start using on Fusion 8 for 30 days trial period, simply download it from here:

Try VMware Fusion or Fusion Pro. Run Windows on a Mac without rebooting.

Once it works as you want, simply assign the license to the merger to change it in the full licensed version.

    Hope this helps,

  • VMware Fusion 8.0

I plan to put VMware Fusion 8.0 on my new Mac Mini, so I can run an older version of Quicken for Mac 2006 R7. I have more than 20 years, the Quicken data files and I need to be able to access these files years every so often for the purposes of investment. Didn't like not all of the new version of Quicken for Mac, or any other software of finance personal I tested (they all seem to be cloud online version now), so I went back to the old version of Quicken, which is very stable for me (I just don't let it backup on my internal HD more).

All the old Quicken files and the program are on my Time Capsule and another hard drive backup external.

My old Mac Mini still works, but given that the OSX can not be upgraded beyond v. 10.6.8 some programs and Firefox work just not so well, and I was starting to think I have some security issue too.

I could get another monitor to the old Mini and not allow access to the internet, but it would still need to save every day at least to one of the external drives. Or, I could attach it to my current monitor along the coast the new Mini, using the D - SUB cable. I've never used the D - SUB connection, so not sure how good the view will be if two Minis share the same monitor. If I could afford to buy another monitor, I'd do it, but now, money is tight after the purchase of my new Mini and a new MBP for my daughter who is in College (his old MB was a 2008 model, no place to upgrade more, so it's very, very slow).

I read here that some people had problems of compatibility with El Capitan and Fusion, so I am wary of load on the new Mini. Are these problems solved?

When you read about the problems? If you're careful, you can try merge free simply go to their web site to access the free trial version. You can also use VirtualBox which is free. I don't think that you will have problems with the virtual machine.

Where you might have problems to run older versions of Quicken rather that perhaps in Quicken for Windows in your virtual machine running Windows or just the new version of Quicken for Mac without running a virtual machine. But I don't know much about Quicken.

  • Genuine Windows 7 on MacBook Pro running in the partition, BootCamp with VMware Fusion 3.1

I'm having a problem with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

I installed Windows 7 on my Bootcamp partition and until recently he worked well as well when I ran into VMWare Fusion.

When I boot on my Windows 7 on Bootcamp partition, everything is OK.  But then when I run it in VMWare Fusion it says that my copy is not genuine.

I just went through the automated phone system and entered the codes, and so now while I'm running Fusion Windows is genuine.

I fear, however, that when I return to the execution of the partition, Bootcamp, Windows will say that is not true, once again.

Only, I have a copy of Windows 7 and can only run from the VMWare Fusion or Bootcamp partition at any time.

How can I fix it if Windows is more said that it is not authentic, when I switch from a training camp and VMWare Fusion?

I need to be able to run Windows while I'm on the side of Mac at the same time

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you used the same Windows Installer Bootcamp, VMWare Fusion product key, there is the question.  You can only install and activate a 1 license of Windows 7.  The second installation requires own license that you can buy on the Microsoft Store. Carey Frisch

  • How to install an instance of Yosemite on VMWare Fusion 7?

Just got a Mac Mini with preinstalled Yosemite. I want to install an instance of Yosemite on my virtual machine running Fusion 7. How do I do that? Yosemite download on the App store? This will create problems?

I'm learning the terminal, and I feel much better in futzing with it in a sandbox.

I think that the people above are missing the point. Trixie (?) got a Mac with already installed Yosemite, but wants a second copy in a virtual machine for Trixie can practice some terminal commands without fear of ruining its production equipment. The question is how to get a copy of Yosemite Trixie allowing it to install on a virtual machine.

None of my Macs come with Yosemite, so I easily could get it from the App Store. It's free from Apple. Even if your Mac came with Yosemite, I guess you can get your own copy of the installer from the App Store. Based on this assumption, here's what I suggest:

    GETTING TO YOSEMITE

    * First of all, try to get a copy of Yosemite from the App Store yourself, even if you are already running Yosemite. Search in the App Store, "os x yosemite." The icon is a white circle with a big X in "utilities". Go ahead and 'Get' or 'Buy' or 'download '. It will be downloaded in your Applications folder. The file is called "install OS X Yosemite.app. (NOTE: you can't see the part ".app" to the name of the file.)

    * If it does not, ask a friend with an old Mac to get a copy of Yosemite with their Mavericks or older Mac. Remind them NOT to launch "Installer OS X Yosemite.app" in their Applications folder! They should copy out of their Applications folder and put it on a flash drive or DVD ROM or the hard drive for you. (IMPORTANT: even if your friend wants to install Yosemite, they must first make a separate copy of the installer.) As soon as it is installed, Yosemite deletes its own Installer automatically from the Applications folder only, but not the copies that have been made elsewhere.

INSTALLATION of YOSEMITE IN a VMware VIRTUAL MACHINE

    * Move the file "install OS X Yosemite.app' of Applications to another folder. If it's on a flash drive, you can leave it there.

    * Launch VMware Fusion.

Create a new machine virtual (menu file-> New, library Virtual Machine 'Add-> New', or command-N).

    * Choose Install from disk or an image. Click on continue.

    * Click on using another drive or disc image..., then browse to the file "install OS X Yosemite.app. Click the Open button in the dialog box, then click on continue.

(Note: there is no need to open the 'package' to find the file "installESD.dmg".) Simply select the file "Install OS X Yosemite.app" and VMware Fusion does the rest for you.)

    * If you want to customize the settings (change the RAM, disk space, etc), do it now. Otherwise, click Finish. The setup of OS X Yosemite will start and run. It will say "creating installation support...". This may take a few minutes. "On my computer, it took more than a" few"minutes. :-)

    * Choose the appropriate language (probably English, if you're reading this!). Click on "Install Mac OS X", then continue.

    * Continue to install OS X as usual.

    * Don't forget to update to OS X (software update) and also to install VMware Tools.

  • VMware Fusion 7 - OSx 10.9 comments iTunes hangs at each time after installing vmware tools

    Hello community,

I'm having a problem with vmware tools.  Yesterday, I did the upgrade of Fusion 6 to 7 Pro.

I have installed Mavericks like virtual machine.  My system (iMac Late2013) has installed Mavericks.

With vmware tools iTunes crash whenever it is launched.

Without vmware tools iTunes works well... but the yield is very low (I can't use shared folders, etc.)

Before upgrading vmware fusion 7, I had fusion 6 and everything works fine (I mean iTunes with vmware tools)

I use this machine with audio application and it is important for me to use iTunes inside the virtual machine.

Is there the 'tricks' to solve this problem?

    Thank you

It's finally a bug in iTunes that Apple should correct (so please click on "Send to Apple" in this window), but it is important to use to find out what triggers it.

I suspect a significant change, we did for the graphics drivers of comments (within the VMware Tools for OS X) between Fusion 6 and 7 of the merger. To test this theory, please try the following experiences in your VM Mavericks:

    o experience 1

In Terminal.app, run the following command:

    sudo nvram boot-args = 'vmw_gfx_caps = 0'

Then restart the client Mavericks. Does make the problem disappear? If no, continue to experiment 2

    o experience 2

In Terminal.app, run the following command:

    sudo rm - rf {/System,}/Library/Extensions/VMwareGfx.kext

Then restart the client Mavericks. Does make the problem disappear?

  • Multi-monitor 7 VMWare Fusion is improved from 6?

    Hello VMWare,

Currently if you google "VMware Fusion 7 multi-monitor Support" this thread is the best result:

    https://communities.VMware.com/thread/458878?start=0 & tstart = 0

In this thread, the top answer is a VMWare employee is studying ways to improve multi-monitor support VMWare Fusion. It's been a year, and you have now unlocked a new major version, to what you ask me to pay to upgrade.  I guess that these issues have been addressed, but I see no reference to improvements in this regard on the VMWare Fusion 7 product pages.

Can you please address the following two questions, which are massive trouble when using Fusion 6 (and I want to emphasize, nor issue seems to affect your competing product Parallels):

    1. If you have more than two monitors (three for example), can you use Fusion 7 full screen but use only 2 screens instead of the 3? In fusion 6, you can use one or ALL, I really hope that this behavior is changed.
    2. When you use a display fullscreen VM on several monitors with the new behavior of multiscreen fullscreen introduced in Mavericks, can you change the space of one of your monitors away from the virtual machine and then on another monitor always displays the virtual machine, interact with the virtual machine without the spaces on your other monitors to return to space the VM?

If you can confirm that the issues have been addressed, I fortunately modernize today.  If not, you clearly that this support is a reason some not a priority for VMWare and I go to Parallels, after buying the latest 3 versions of VMWare and be a happy customer otherwise.

    Thank you for your answer!

They do not react because the answer is that they did not have * nothing * to improve their software in this regard.

You better buy Parallels, making these two things well.  Even if the product windows VMWare offers this kind of behavior of multi-monitor, they are apparently not interested in doing the same thing on their OS X product.  I'm not interested in waiting around for them to recognize it as a priority, so I switched to Parallels.

  • VMWare Fusion Pro

    Hi all

Two questions: can I create of virtual machines with Fusion Pro? And I can change the hardware settings on virtual machines with Fusion Pro? i.e. Add another network connection, modify a serial port, change the hard drive sizes, etc...

Context: I buy a new laptop for a company I put in place, and I'm looking at a mac. Most of my software is windows based, which is not a problem, because I already use VMWare workstation on my PC. But I can not run on a mac Workstation, so if I need to create new virtual machines, I have to go back to a PC workstation, or can Fusion Pro do?

Option B is to create a virtual Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 using my existing PC, then basically save them as models and the clone necessary to make new machines.

Option C is to use the PC to create a windows virtual machine, and then use Fusion to run VMWare Workstation on the virtual machine on the mac, and save the virtual machine, I create the machine host to run them using VMWare fusion. But that means the purchase of two packages, and besides, I'm worried that Xzibit will appear and say "Yo dawg, I you herd as VM" or I'll violate the space/time continuum and cause a black hole

If anyone knows where I can find a comparison chart between Fusion and Fusion Pro would be great as well

    Thank you!

VMware Fusion while having only the features of VMware Workstation however it is much more then what VMware Player is and can create and modify Virtual Machines.

The comparison to VMware Fusion vs VMware Fusion Professional is right in front of you to the VMware Fusion product page!

  • VMware Fusion 6: Retail Box availability?

OK, I have to ask (because I do whenever there is a new version of Fusion): where and when can I buy a copy of Fusion 6 in a box retail? For Fusion 5, it was available at the local Apple Store - but they seem to have given up selling Fusion. Amazon has not in the list, either. Finally gave up areas of the retail of VMware? Thank you!

Clay (that guy who likes to have boxes of software on their Board)

Physical boxes have been interrupted since VMware Fusion 6. I'm sorry.

  • Running VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 Thunderbolt Drive

    Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

    The guest is Windows 7 x 64

    -Allocated memory: 8 GB

    -Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    -Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

All the world experience similar question, run the virtual machine of the Thunderbolt drive?

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.
