By aligning the lines in InDesign CS5 colomns

I have trouble getting lines to align everything using several columns. I tried to align to a baseline alignment and fastening to the frame and have had no success. I tried these links (adobe how - to suggested) but not able to understand this. It is a publication of more than 12 pages, I hope that I am not too complicate it.

Example:

Example of alignment of base:

Screen Shot 2016-08-18 at 2.19.03 PM.png

Here is an error:

Change the start at zero relative to the top margin, not zero relative to the top of the page.

(The other method is to find your top margin, such as 6P3 and tell 6P3 to the top of the page.)

Confirm that your leader is of 14.4 or 28.8, etc.

If spacing is 14.5, the line will jump the following grid.

Confirm that you have enabled to Use base Grid (preferably with Styles).

After that, we'll see what happens!

As Peter said, confirm that the vertical Justification is Top (not justified) to object > text frame Options.

And just because it is causing so much trouble, confirm that executives do not have a custom reference grid that replaces the reference to the document grid.

  • By aligning the lines between pages in InDesign CS5

    Hi all

    After many fruitless hours of Googling, I'm really, really hoping to find help here with a small matter of InDesign CS5 I'll have. I'll try and keep this brief.

    I am designing a book in InDesign CS5, which has chapters that run one after the other. Considering that in most of the books, a new chapter will start on a new page, here they flow together. For each chapter title, I use a font called: Orial, size 18. For the main text, I use Adobe Garamond Pro, size 12. When I have two solid pages of 12-point Adobe Garamond Pro, all right. The alignment of the lines on the two pages are level with one another. It's just what I want.

    However, if I have a double page and a page has a title Orial 18pt (in all the Adobe Garamond Pro 12pt), that things get mean, as you can see in the image below:

    hdkhfkdhfkhskf.jpg

    As you can see, the lines on page 79 are not leveled with those on page 78. Is there a way to get around this?

    Thanks much for any help you can offer. I'm rather tear my hair out here!

    I'm rather new to InDesign (as is clearly obvious, I know)

    In fact, it was not obvious in your first posting - it is now, but it does explain why you turn on the grid and immediately exclaim that it was exactly what you wanted.

    Skip steps a lot (making the paragraph styles, for example) but at least that, you should get started:

    1) turn on all the stuff the view so you can see what you're doing:

    View-> display-> Normal Mode

    View-> options-> the contours of the block see the

    View-> grid-> see the baseline grid

    2) turn on snap-to-base-grid on all text

    It's easy if you used paragraph styles. It's also easy if your entire book is a long story with connected text frames. If, when you use the text selection cursor, you can press Control-A (or Edit-> Select all) and select all of your text, you can simply click here:

    (3) to set the height of your desired grid (it's in the preferences)

    Now, if each image on each page is controlled by itself (not related to previous and subsequent frames), you can just replace it in the paragraph Style, under "spacing of dashes &." If your images are not linked, and you do not use a paragraph style, you need to select it all the & turn snap to grid on for each page in your document.

    So this should align each line in your doc to the grid. If this does not happen, after what happens, and we're going to understand what is happening.

  • Upgrade the version of Indesign CS5

    Hello

    A few years ago, I upgraded from Pagemaker 6.5 to InDesign CS5. Now I have a new computer and want to install InDesign CS5, but I do not have the old Pagemaker 6.5 installed on your new PC (I have the CD or serial number). Is there a way around this problem without having to buy an old version of Pagemaker?

    Thank you!

    Hi John,.

    It must have been the full version that I just talked to Adobe by LiveChat and they very kindly changed serial number to allow me to install the program. I think it has been called an upgrade as it was probably a bit cheaper to take into account the fact that we already have Pagemaker. Excellent customer service from them!

  • Where is the widget that spans the control panel indesign cs5.5

    Hi, I'm only learning Indesign CS5.5 on a Macpro using X Lion. I was going through the tutorials and listening to those on covering and splitting columns, the Narrator makes reference to Spanning a widget on the control panel. My program does not seem to have this widget, and when I did a search he just lead me to this tutorial as the mere mention of a covering widget.

    I tried to go to the help, but it only led me to what is new articles which is without help because since I have never used Indesign I have no frame of reference for what's new!

    So, I'm afraid that your tutorials will continue to be frustrating for me because of the references to the controls and commands that do not exist.

    My question is, where can I find the widget mentioned in this turorial Adobe Indesign?

    You must have your cursor in the text, and then choose mode paragraph (P symbol chosen on the left side of the control panel.

  • Placement of the JPEG in InDesign CS5

    All,

    I am creating a document, InDesign (CS5) intended for the screen alone (iPad), and I have a series of images of the same size that I will be flowing into the document - one per page.

    Photoshop images are JPEG files (although I tried with TIFFs too, just to see without success) 732px x 72 dpi 1024px, then fill the top of iPad screen down and must be somewhat narrower the width of 768px for the iPad, it's OK.  Then, I created an InDesign document to 732px x 1024px, thinking that the images would pass in 100%.  However, I find the place images at about 50% or less, despite the Transform in ID palette mean the picture is 100%.  Its very special.

    I looked through ID prefs to see if the document I created has a pre-set native resolution of, say, 96 or more, but can't find anything.

    No idea why even Photoshop images and the identity document size do not match?

    All advice appreciated.

    Thank you

    /Timothy

    When you select the Selection (black arrow) tool scale percentages are ALWAYS shown 100% becaue the framework is 100% of its current size (which is logical for someone). If you want to know the extent of the CONTENT of the image, you should use the direct Selection tool or double-click the image to select the content.

    Which raise the question of how you do the frame when you place? Click on and release (should you give 100%, but see below), click and drag or predraw framework?

    There was a bug, which may still exist, I think that in CS4, this ID casued scale of some images via click and release which had dimensions of the particular image and (I think) have been saved at 72 dpi (this last part is not exact). In addition, if the source directly from the camera image and has not been saved in a Publisher ID sometimes has difficulties to decide what size and resolution to use.

  • Need help with italics for the ePub and InDesign CS5

    Can anyone one help out me. I can't find the answer to this and I know it must be simple, I just lack.

    I create an ePub from InDesign CS5. All I want to do is have the italics that are displayed in the text box in InDesign, see the in the epub file.

    I prefer not to say what I did (I think I've tried everything, but obviously I got them all wrong, so no point listing them) and I hope that someone can make a simple guide, step by step how to make italics appear in the ePub file.

    Sorry if this question is under everyone, it's really annoying that I can't figure this on my own.

    Yes unfortunately sometimes does. ID is really a ship in order to get the content in epub format.

    You must go through your CSS for every job.

    Addition of

    serif; or without serifs; After each occorence a police.

    also, most in CS5 importanley make sure you have font name in the top of the CSS file "" round then, otherwise it appears correctly in the Adobe Digital Editions software, actually to check the rest of the code in this a well for example:

    {@font-face}
    Police-family: Minion Pro;
    make-style: normal;
    make-weight: normal;
    SRC:URL("fonts/MinionPro-regular.OTF");
    }

    I really only the minimum required in ID and do the rest in dreamweaver

    This is an excellent example of the "differences between browsers.

    Chrome "just that" when you ball a focused list.

    Some browsers interpret things a little differently than others. In general, that is to say the culprit to do something unexpected, but other browsers have their things too.

    Chrome wants you to use list-style-position: inside on css of the tag

      to get them to the wire.

  • How do smooth out you the lines in Photoshop CS5

    I have a few black and white art drawings. The lines are not smooth and sharp, and to the contrary to have tiny jagged edges. I tried to use the finger and that smooth lines but it also makes the lines a little sloppy. It is probably the way the smudge tool takes its name. Is it possible to use this amazing software to create smooth lines? I learned how to create paths, but I can't understand how to use paths to change the line drawing. • Removal of overset text in the rows of the table empty (InDesign CS5.5)

    I have overset text in a table that seems to be empty lines.  I opened the editor mode so I can remove the text, but I can't select the area which is in excess (red lines).  How a this removes in excess of stuff if you can't select it.

    Have you tried to adjust the height of the line to reveal that more than the text?

    Or try to place your cursor in the cell in question and simply press the delete key. The sometimes invisible characters as column break may be accidentally added.

    Or perhaps, highlighting the row and press the BACKSPACE key.

  • Open the document in Indesign cs5.5 server

    Hi guys!

    I have a problem when opening documents in CS5.5, I upgraded our Indesign server CS3 CS5.5 and using the indesignserver api for Java.

    I'm under Jboss, J2EE, CORBA, and CS5.5 with 8 instances.

    When I open multiple documents *.indt I get "Please close one or more documents Adobe InDesign Server or books or libraries and try again." It seams that Indesign server is locked

    the file. If I did not load the indesign has no problem. I read the new API and I open the document with:

    com.Adobe.IDs.basics. ApplicationOperations. Open Throws (VariableType , OptOpenOptionsEnum openOption) IdsException

    My code:

    VariableType vtDocument = application.open (VariableTypeUtils.createFile (documentFileName), OptArg.noOpenOptionsEnum ());

    Document document = DocumentHelper.narrow (vtDocument.asObject ());

    I don't really know what are the OptOpenOptionsEnums available and sending in no option, I think that the problem is here, because in CS3

    I don't have to send the OpenOptionsEnum to the open method.

    What kind of OptOpenOptionsEnums is there to choose?

    Anyone get the same problem? solutions?

    I found a solution!

    I looked at the Javascript api for the OptIOpenOptionsEnum and took the number enums and created new OptOptionOptionsEnum in java:

    OptOpenOptionsEnum open_copy = OptArg.makeOpenOptionsEnum (1332757360);

    OptOpenOptionsEnum open_original = OptArg.makeOpenOptionsEnum (1332760343);

    OptOpenOptionsEnum open_default = OptArg.makeOpenOptionsEnum (1147563124);

    And then simply send in one of the OpenOption which fits your needs as the second argument to the open method, as follows:

    VariableType vtDocument = application.open (VariableTypeUtils.createFile (documentFileName), open_default);

  • Problems placing the Image in Indesign Cs5

    A tiff image created in Photoshop in 300 DPI with 8 X 10 inch size seems much smaller when placed in indesign page. I'm not using just frames: file - place.

    Need to print to the exact size without resizing image.

    Really would appreciate your help! Have a huge point.

    When you place the file, using file > Place? If so, when the cursor turns into a thumbnail of the image you place, you by clicking once on the InDesign page, or by clicking on and dragging a box? If you click and drag, the image fits in size what ever you box drag, rather than being placed at 100%.

    If this isn't the right answer, please provide a little more information.

  • Rules move when changing the length of InDesign CS5

    Whenever I change the length of the rules in CS5, the rule will then proceed to jump all over the page. Is a simple adjustment I am on? Really slows down the workflow when you need to change a rule in length and then move the rule to where he was. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Who just sent a lightning bolt through my brain. Is the link beween the length and height fields? If this is the case, try to turn it off. The status of the settings in the control panel for 'Dimensions include srtroke weight' and "Adjust STROKE weight when climbing" can also come into play.

    A tip would be a factor, if you actually have the end caps, but race position (Center, inside or outside) could make a minor difference if time and whose weight dimensional scaling are enabled.

    It is also quite easy to accidentally move when selecting something, but I don't want that, since you say that change happens afer you type a number in the field of reduction.
