By the end of 2011 Mac Book pro 15 inch battery indicating zero

I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro (end) retina which really is not used as a laptop display. (always connected)

Just today, he showed zero percentage battery icon.

I have reset the SMC and that did not help

Should I try to disconnect the battery to see if it would help

Is the battery shot just like that?

Thanks for the help

In addition, if the battery needs to be replaced can I do it myself?

Hello

The battery may be necessary replacement.

Check the number of maximum cycle. Instructions here > Determining battery cycle count for Mac notebooks

http://www.Apple.com/batteries/service-and-recycling/

You can replace the battery yourself > https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+15-Inch+Unibody+Late+2011+Battery+Repla cement/7511

But if you have never done this before, I recommend you take your Mac to an Apple Store. You can make a reservation in advance at a Genius Bar.

    depends on MacBook Pro you have and if you buy oem or aftermarket. An oem battery is the way to go, after that the markets are proved to be unreliable. I'm to do it the good way market if its all the same. But I have a few experiences where they don't acknowledge or reload. And ive seen have poor performance and cost of life. • Who is the best SSD 500GBs in an early 2011 Mac Book Pro?

    I just updated my RAM to 4GBs to 16GBs in May 2011 beginning 15 "MacBook Pro, now I'm looking to upgrade my computer with an SSD. I'm looking for some 500GBs because 1 TB is too expensive for me right now. Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

    The only thing I can say, is that the only true upgrade in today's world is a Solid State Drive. Now you can go to Crucial.com and get a 480 GB ssd for 139.99 or a 500 GB for about 159.99 about. A regular HARD drive could cost you half, but it's so worth the extra mulah.

  • Mac Book Pro El Capitan won't start

    End of 2011 Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.11.2 and 500 GB SSD locked when you change an image in Lightroom 6.  Display got lines in there, then moved to the right until all the images in all programs were packaging off the screen on the left and ending on the right.  I decided to quit Lightroom and it went in her check and the safeguard of this app.  At this point the computer locked up completely with the beachball forever.  I stopped with the start key and restarted.  Desktop came, but then locked up again.  No restart in any mode after that.  Computer goes the logo Apple on a white screen with the high CPU activity as evidenced by a cooling fan screaming.

    I have a backup recovery app on a USB key, but does not know how to use it. I also still have the original hard drive that could possibly be re-installed, but he showed signs of early failure.

    Can anyone help?

  • U2414H, Mac Book Pro, DisplayPort 1.2 empty, solved

    I'm posting here in the hope that it gets indexed by search engines and other people can find the answer that I spent a few hours searching without luck.  At first, I must say that I am generally very pleased with this monitor - like bezel-thin, very good quality picture, easy to set up and a great price. However, most of this post is going to be a complaint and attention to others. told me, incorrectly, that my early 2011 Mac Book Pro 15 "mini-DisplayPort taken in charge the DisplayPort 1.2 Protocol. It turns out only. Then when I activated the DisplayPort 1.2 screen turned white, as the instructions said he could. No biggie, you would think - just get on-screen display (OSD) to the top again and disable DisplayPort 1.2 or do a factory reset. Here, you can't get the OSD until a source is connected correctly to the screen. Which means that you can not disable DisplayPort 1.2 or do a factory reset, you want to do because you cannot successfully connect to the screen, until properly connect a device to the screen. And so on and so forth.

    There is no other way to do a factory reset, so the only way for me to reset the monitor that is to go buy a mini-DisplayPort-HDMI cable in order to connect to the monitor in this way and do a factory reset. I confirmed this with a call to Dell technical support, too. I don't quite see how thought happened during the design of the firmware. How do you design a monitor where the only way to do a factory reset is when a device is connected correctly? A major flaw, but it will apply only if you don't know this in advance, where this post.

    It also would have been clearer if the warning had said "this can make your blank screen which, until you have another cable to connect via HDMI, means that you have essentially an expensive piece of plastic."

    Follow these steps to disable the DP1.2 on the U2414H WITHOUT signal input

    Buttons =.
    Preset, brightness, Menu, power supply, output

    When you press the Menu button, the buttons are then =
    Up arrow key or down arrow control OK, return, power

    * Turn off the monitor
    Unplug all the video inputs of the U2414H wiring
    * Turn on the monitor
    * Press the Menu key
    * Press the button OK check (3rd left) and hold FOR 15 seconds
    * Disable DP 1.2

  • Update iPhone via iTunes on Mac Book Pro 6

    If you have the latest iPhone (in my case 6 more), do you still need to connect the phone to your Mac Book Pro to synchronize or search the iOS updates. Apparently I'm close to running out of disk space (still trying to get my head around it), which is now the difficult update. However, the phone says it has the latest iOS, but iTunes on my MacBook Pro insists on the fact that I need to update the phone!

    1. No, you haven't, but if a restoration fails, it may need to be connected to a computer.

  • Mac Book Pro and HP Envy 110F wireless printing problems

    I got my Mac book Pro for Christmas 2013 and initially had no problem printing wireless to my HP Envy 110F, but for some reason, I keep getting problems with printing to the envy of 110. We don't have printing problems with our Ipad for this printer.

    I can connect the printer to my Mac book Pro by putting 192.168.1.72 IP address in a web browser, but I get on the symbol bit offline when I print the urge. Last night I reinstalled the printer to print wireless on my mac pro book using a printer cable, which then worked well, but today the same problem reappeared.

    I'm starting to think that the problem may have started with the latest version of the update of the operating system to the Mavericks 10.9.4.

    All thoughts welcome.

    Hi @UKCheshire

    Since you are able to print from the iPad to the wireless printer, I suspect you have to something. I think that the question has something to do with the communication between the printer and the computer and not between the printer and the router. Please use the following document to solve the problem; "Printer is off-line" Message appears on the computer and the printer does not print: Mac OS X.

    If the problem persists, do not give up hope, let me know and we will work through it together.

  • Mac Book Pro end of 2011 up to 16 GB of RAM?

    Dear community

    my Mac Book Pro 15 "with 2, 5 GHz Intel Core I7, defined as 'late 2011' need for an upgrade of RAM of 4 GB real to something better.

    Check the plug on the Apple support forum seems my laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB and is fine for me.

    But I also went to the local dealer in Italy and told me that I can spend with module 2 * 8Gb to 16Gb.

    It is true, or go up to 8 GB to be sure.

    Thanks for your time,

    Max

    Quite true, a MBP late 2011 will support up to 16 GB of RAM.  The best sources of RAM compatible Macs are OWC and Crucial.

    I have 16 GB of RAM installed in my 2011 Mbps, and both executed without flaws.

    Anyone who says that the 2011 MBP can not use more than 8 GB of RAM, does so by ignorance.

    Ciao.
