By using the GPU for rendering? Get makes it faster?

I'm trying to export a 20 min video I've done in After Effects. It has a few effects of particles and some effects of Audio spectrum. When I start a Render, it shows between 20 to 30 hours to complete. If I had several machines I would have no problem with that, but I did not.

I tried most of the suggestions in the forums to try and speed up the rendering time:

Untitled-1.jpg

  • Clasic made instead of Ray traced
  • Removed unused and sequences pre comps
  • Reduced the number of effects
  • reduced the number of precomps
  • reduced the number of expressions
  • Rendering with CUDA
  • Disabled motion blur
  • Disabilities to 3D layers.

Still, I can't take the shortest rendering time. I also tried various rendering parameters:

  • YouTube 1080 p
  • Youtube720p
  • QuickTime animation
  • Lossless
  • JPEG sequence

with no major difference (youtube 1080 p being the best)

I noticed that the SOUL does not all the power he could. It uses around 50% of CPU, but I read that may be because it doesn't have time to ramp upward before arriving at another framework.

I also notice that even using CUDA acceleration, SOUL does not use power of the GPU at ALL. I have two GTX780 and I'm sure that if it was their use he would accelerate a lot, but I don't know if we can use them and if possible I don't know how to activate it.

If you are looking for any other suggestions to speed up my rendering, or instructions for making SOUL use my GPU

Data sheet:

  • I7 - 4790K
  • 32 GB of RAM
  • 2 x GTX780

The GPU is not rendered 99% of everything that AE. If you use the TEA to render a model of EI then AE works in the background so SOUL must leave a few resources for do you other things. With the help of SOUL is always slower rendering with the Render tail if you go to the same format, but for most of us is not a problem because we don't sit and wait for makes, work us on the next shot or move on to another project. That's the beauty of the SOUL, must never stop creating - things, you get paid for.  If it's a rush to get out the project will restore then with making Cue of EI for a codec made fast production and then run through the SOUL SOUL being much more efficient and faster video transcoding in another format.

As far as general things AE goes, temporal effects are taking the most time to render, particles also take a long time to render. Drawn to the beam with acceleration CUDA only is absolutely not supported in SOUL even if you have a correctly configured NVIDIA GPU. I know not all professionals that use drawn with RADIUS one rendered for anything whatsoever. There are much better solutions even without 3rd party effects.

I hope this helps. The best way to get something out of the door is to make a standard production format by using the mark to return and a quick to render format ensuring that you use the formats of standard production for all of your belongings in the Ant project that are all of the images used in your publication to scale to 100% at some point in your comp (a lot of people try to make photo slideshows in HD with 20 images of a DSLR MP and all of them are resized way down). Once you have your master of standard production format that fall into the SOUL to generate your deliverables.

Currently AE will not use 100% of your system resources when rendering HD or even 4 K video because AE watch only 1 frame at a time and any modern processor can easily treat an image using a fraction of its power. Then, we need to calculate everything again. Certain effects will use more memory a temporal effects and particles can quickly fill the memory, but until the basic architecture of the AE render engine is completely revamped we're stuck with makes it slow.

Just FYI a little... Many of my composite complex can take 1 or 2 minutes per image for rendering. Some have taken 5 or 6 minutes. My 'pencil tests' or movement work almost always with little or no effects just to check the appearance of the animation. I call them pencil tests, test the hosts traditional photo pencil sketches to check the action and blocking before sending frames out to ink and paint because it makes no sense to paint on a stage where you don't know if Bambi walks funny because you didn't run a pencil and ink. In any case, my 'pencil tests' or previews make usually about 7 to 10 frames per second. It's the range of my work. Most production companies who are trying to earn a living do effects and editing have a fairly strict set of standards for travel times. Only, they conceive their work to fit into this mold.

AE uses only a few NVIDIA CUDA enabled cards to speed up rendering drawn with RADIUS. This feature never quite worked, with disabilities masks and effects on layers 3D, and NVIDIA has changed the direction of their development of this technology for the Ray-traced rendering feature is is more developed by Adobe. They are working on another technology to use the GPU, but it is not yet available. There is nothing you can do to enable the GPU acceleration, unless you have a compatible NVIDIA card.

  • Why doesn't Premiere Pro use my GPU for rendering?

    Hi all

I bought two GTX 770 s in order to render super fast with the wonderful first Mecrury playback engine. The issue I'm having is, I realized a project right now, but there is no any purpose of my GPU. My CPU is stationary at 55-80% usage, so I was wondering what was going on.

It is possible that no matter what your project is not accelerated by GPU, or can be done by using the GPU.  Read this blog post by Todd K, which describes what Pr can do using a GPU (or two... or three...)  Follow the links to understand the list of effects that are accelerated, etc..

  • OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT is on the list of Adobe to not support GPU for rendering of the Open GL...

My Mac Pro Radeon X 1900 XT is retired to my yard serious computer in my basement, but that goes back to the OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT, brought encouraging results delivered with my Mac Pro.

When I got the Mac Pro 2007, in 2009, I was running it in Mac OS 10.4.4.11 Tiger and Photoshop CS4 (11.0.0) would turn off the Open GL rendering when it detected the GeForce 7300 GT card stock, which was on the list of unsupported graphics nVidia GPU Adobe.   So, I bought a refurbished nine Apple Radeon X 1900 XT.  This card allowed to Photoshop CS4 and Bridge CS4 allow Open GL rendering.  Last year, the Radeon X 1900 XT graphics card created scratches on my screen when it is running hot and sometimes dual turns off just as I was working.  In addition, the computer was material freezes about once a day.   This morning the Mac Pro close its dual display, while I was working, and I had to make another cold cut in order to restart.  I then manually shut down the computer and doing a manual start so that Snow Leopard would use disk maintenance.

I turned off the computer and pulled the Radeon X 1900 XT card and re-inserted the OEM Apple nVidia GeForce 7300 GT card.  Now I'm in Mac OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) instead of Photoshop CS4 (11.0.0).

Now, the update to Photoshop CS4, under the most recent operating system, allowing rendering Open GL instead of disable. Physical limitation of this graphics card is now fixed, so I see no reason to buy the ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for my Mac Pro:

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/Apple/6615718/

Some of those who bought the Apple ATI Radeon HD 5770 will say that they always got the striping on their screen when the Radeon HD 5770 card was running hot, just like with the Radeon X 1900 XT.

So far, Apple OEM nVidia GeForce 7300 GT works fine and I get no striping on my poster without shut-off or material display freezes.

I'm happy to have made of Open GL to Adobe enabled with an OEM GPU graphic that works cool and requires no fan cooling anchored.  Apple OEM nVidia GeForce 7300 GT, for the Mac Pro, is on the list of Adobe to not support GPU for rendering of the Open GL under Photoshop CS4, so why is he now supported?  That is just one of the benefits of the Photoshop CS4 11.0.2 update?

Also FYI, Adobe is not always announce or specify bug fixes in versions of update of an application, although sometimes they do.

  • After using the GPU effects

Szalam, if possible, I'd like some information in what concerns this topic because I'm having a moment a little hard to get my head around how After Effects uses the GPU in some situations.

For example, I have a comp UltraHD quite complex with a group of layers 3D element. Because we work closely with the 3D with element layers, we have the rendering engine in After Effects "3D Classic" on. Because I'm using a GPU K4200, I'll just follow the advice of Adobe and use the CPU for any trace of the rays since the K4200 is "unsupported".

So now that I'm assuming that After Effects will do all THE processing of treatment on the CPU - with the exception of the work of 3-d element, which will be done only on the GPU, correct? Then now, I guess as long as I "simultaneous rendering of several images multiprocessing" something sensible (i.e. leaving 1/4 or preferably more like 1/3 of the available RAM to non - After Effects-related work and not hungry processors), then After Effects will try to max-out the processors as much as possible for everything except the item in 3D work (which will be hopefully out the GPU max). Is this correct?

Is it interesting to use in load/no tested (for example the K4200) GPU to accelerate the raytraced render engine in this scenario (i.e. 3D only in the model elements are 3D, element, cameras and lights 3D layers), or is it better to leave it on the CPU and leave the single GPU for 3D element?

    Thanks in advance!

Right. Your scene does not all the layers using the ray traced in her rendering engine at all, so leave it on Classic 3d is the best choice. The new version of the item has "drawn with RADIUS' shadows and whatnot, but which is unrelated to converter traced to obsolete radius of EI. EI raytraced render engine is essentially an effect pressing the Optix of NVIDIA GPU library. It was just to add depth to layers. People are often confused and think that turning traced to the rendered RADIUS on would hire the GPU to make this, but the only thing he never accelerated has been traced to the RADIUS effect (which has very few people have already used).

    Yes.

Pretty much, Yes. There are other potential bottlenecks (if you use images out of an external device with a slow connection, for example), but it's like basic things will be.

Your scene, as you describe it, does not use the ray-traced rendering engine at all. The ray-traced rendering engine is just a way to add depth and dimension to natively layers in AE. Given that you do not use this feature, by turning your comp to use the rendering engine raytraced won't help what whatsoever and, instead, plu cause lead the times.

But you can feel free to test yourself. Try a rendering with the standard rendering engine and with the renderer raytraced lit. See if you can see differences.

  • What is a good way to use the queues for the model of consumers/producers?

    Hi all

I am following the model of consumers/producers to use the queue to synchronize the following process: the producer is a loop to produce a number N, I will put each number generated in a table and after each 5 numbers generated, I put the table in the queue and pass it on to the consumer. I have to wait the use by consumers of the data and it will then remove the item from queue so that producers will have the chance to produce another 5 numbers. As I put the maximum size of the queue one, I expect that the producer and the consumer turns to produce / consume all five numbers and the opportunity to another. Here is my code

When the checkbox is false, the code will be

For the first 5 numbers, product will generate every thing right and put it in the table, and it's going to pass the array to the quere so that the consumer will have the chance to loop through the table. I except the procude loop will continue only when the queue is available (i.e. all items are deleted), but it seems that once the consumer starts the loop loop of the product will continue (if the indicator x + 1 and x 2 will be changed to numbers). But this isn't what I want, I know there must be something wrong, but I can't say it is.

As you say in 1, sequency structure to enforce the order of execution, that's why I put it here, in this example, the simple question, I replace the complete code with increase in the number, in the real case, the first markers + 1 and + 2 must be performed in this order.

    Mikeporter says:
    1. get rid of all the structures of the sequence. None of them are nothing but apply a work order which would have been the same without them.

So even if you delete the sequence structure, there will be a fixed & defined order and it is because LabVIEW follows the MODEL of FLOW OF DATA.

Data flow model (more precisely in the context of LabVIEW): a block diagram node runs when it receives the required inputs. When a node is running, it produces output data and transmits data to the next node in the path of the data stream. The flow of data on the nodes determines the order of execution of the VIs and functions on the block diagram (click here for reference).

Now in your code, just remove the sequence structure will not make you order will be going to stay the same, but you need to do some very minor changes (as thread of the error in loop, before that he go to the node "Élément Dequeue").

Come to the main point: it's a good way to use the queue for the consumer/pmodel that?
The model you are using (and qualifying as consumer/pmodel) is much too deviated from the original consumer/pmodel which model.

    dragondriver wrote:

For the second, Yes, it's my fault for delete, though. I'm actually the example of model of producer/consumer design pattern, but I do not pay attention to the while loop in the part of the consumer.

While loops (two producers & consumers) are the essential part of this architecture and cannot be deleted. You can start your code using standard model.
