C552US CD - RW drive find you incomplete or damaged registry

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I reported in case it has nothing to do with it.  Windows Update yesterday reported there were available downloads and I downloaded and applied everything except those optional and a patch of PowerPoint Viewer who refuses to install, so I always jump more.

To restart, I put a CD in the drive to rip, and Windows Media has always said that I had to put a CD in the drive.  Earlier in the day I had shown a DVD, so I don't know that he was working at that time.

Shows Device Manager CD player with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point.  It reports also itself as a CD - RW Optiarc CRX880A ATA Device.  I don't remember if this is how he previously reported itself, but it's a DVD-ROM also.

Under properties, general tab, device status, it says: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »

When I click on 'Check' solutions, said of the window, "could not load driver software.  Windows informs you if there are steps to take to get your operational device. "Under Details of the problem:

Description:

Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver has encountered a problem when he tried to run. The problem code is 19.

When I click on "Check online for a solution now", the status bar comes alive for a few seconds, and then the window closes without report success or failure.

I also have 'Update Driver', and it seems to be successful, but have not eliminated the problem.

Ideas, anyone?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Error message when you open Device Manager and clicking on the dvd player. Drive does not appear in the window 'computer '. Max_devices downloaded, but it couldn't fix the problem.

    Hello

19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

    Hello SQUARKMAN,

I did a little research, trying to determine the compatibility with Windows 7. It doesn't seem to be compatible, since its last update compatible with Windows 2000/XP shows.

You could try running in compatibility mode, or if you have the XP mode, you can try to run in there also determine if you have better success.

How to format a hard drive when you're locked volume popups?

Looks like you are trying to format the disk that contains the system volume of in WinXP.  You can not.  It would be the computer equivalent of sawing off the branch of the tree, you sit and WinXP is "too smart" to enable this.

After saving all the data you want to transfer to the new installation of the OS, simply boot from the Windows XP installation CD.  You will be offered the possibility to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the installation process. (You may need to rearrange the order of the boot devices in the PC BIOS to boot from the CD.)

    Gringy,
Here is an article with detailed steps to take to solve the problem of permissions permanently.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949608 this involves advanced enough procedures so if this isn't something you feel comfortable with that you get assistance to do this process.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.
