Calendar in XP Defragmenter

I don't know there is a way to automatically schedule disk defragmentation in Windows XP, SP3.  I tried to use Task Scheduler, but not able to find the "program" to assign to the defragmentation.  There must be documentation on this somewhere?

Mike,

Go to control panel > administrative tools > Computer Management (Shortcut). Storage > Disk Defragmenter.

However, I am not suggesting that you plan to automativically run. Your C: drive player needs 15% free space to run. I tried to run this week and I don't have enough space treatment. Instead, I'm trying to delete files on my C: drive recovery because I keep all documents on an external drive.

In Windows Vista, there are a lot of improvements in the defrag engine and handling of fragmentation. By default, Windows Vista uses Task Scheduler to automatically keep the defragmented hard drive. This Automatic defragmentation does not affect the performance of the Windows Vista operating system...

    Hello

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

  • Unable to schedule the disk, always set to 'never' Defragmenter in Vista

When I call the Disk Defragmenter screen still reads that my next scheduled time is 'never '.  even if I reset the calendar at a specific time, when I close and call it back up the next scheduled time is again back to 'never', what is wrong?

There are several reasons why the built-in function may not work correctly:

    0. it is malware on the system. Solution: Run an anti-virus control and also a spyware check.

    1. the disk is too full (you need at least 15% free space, sometimes 20%). Solution: Delete files unnecessary and programs until you have more than 20% free space.

    2. the disc is damaged and must be repaired. Solution:

a.Open "My computer" and right click the drive that you want to disable frag.
    b. Select 'Properties' and click on 'tools '.
    c. Select "Check now" to check the drive for errors.
    d. Select the two options and click on 'start '.

(This can take time and can restart the PC so that it can do the check at boot time. Be patient and let it complete).

    3. Disk Defragmenter can be altered, needing a system restore to fix it. Solution:

    a. start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore (click here to open);
    b. Select a good restore point before you start having problems with Disk Defragmenter.
    c. start the restore process and let it finish. (Name the descriptive restore as "Repair of Defrag" operation).

    4. There are other programs that run the Defragmenter interruption integrated. Solution:

    a. close all running programs.

    b. If you think there may be some programs that run in the background.

    c. press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and

    d. Select "start Task Manager".

    e. under the 'Applications' tab, you will find a list of all running applications - you can close these by selecting "end task."

    5. If still no luck, try disabling the screen saver when you run Disk Defrag (you should very well leave the system only when running the built-in defragmentation utility).

    6. If still no go, try to run the defragmenter in Mode without failure. If she runs, something interferes with her and stalking interference may not be easy. Note: Some versins of Win 7 disable the ability to run the Defragmenter built-in in safe mode. If disabled, it will say when you try to start it in safe mode.

7 Disk Defragmenter may no longer be on the system or is damaged while it needs a re - install. Solution:

    a. open the menu 'start '.
    b. type '% Windir%\Inf' in the 'Search' box and press 'Enter '.
    c. in the window that opens, find the file named "dfrg.inf.
    d. right-click on "dfrg.inf" and "install". (Note: apparently the specified file is not present on some versions of Win 7 - go to step 8).

    8. most of the problems will be solved by #6 above, but if not, and if your windows installation is otherwise working well, you should consider to download a free trial of a Defrag tool commercial rather than drastic measures to restore the perfect bed-s. Third-party programs are more robust and many work in the background, so you can use your PC during defragmentation.

Most third party programs offer a fully functional free trial version (better ones are for 30 days). Install one of them allows you to disable built-in and if you decide to uninstall, removal will replace the built-in function, repaired several times in the process: it's worth a try...

The gold medal is the only defrag of program that prevents the fragmentation (see the reiew).

Why is it good to prevent fragmentation?

Basically, it significantly increases life expectancy of your hard drive (especially since you don't have to leave the system on all night - a much 'greener' agricultural practice), not to mention it also increases the performance of the system.

Find out what the review has to say on this.

    Good luck to you!

Windows disk defragmentation must be performed by calendar. You shouldn't have to run it manually, not to mention that it takes forever to complete if you run manually.
Once fixed, the Windows Disk Defragmenter is designed to run silently in full. You won't see her progress.
Here is a tutorial to show how your disk defrag schedule.

It shows you the process, "play by play".
It gives you a summary report.

  • Defragmentation and menu of services

    Hello

Looked defragger computer hubbys to see he did not task since 2007!  Considered the responses all over the internet and I am now stuck.

Scheduled task has been set to automatic but the calendar says 'never' to perform according to defrag.  I went into the services menu to see if disk defragmentation is enabled and it is not there. I can defragment manually, and it seems to take hours.  Anyone know how I can add this new in the services menu so that I can implement to perform tasks automatically.

    Thank you.

    Hello Carla,.

If you run Disk Defragmenter automatically or manually, Disk Defragmenter may take a few minutes to a few hours at the end, depending on the size and the degree of fragmentation of your hard drive. You can still use your computer during the defragmentation process. It runs in the background

I explained in my previous answer how to schedule a task for disk defragmentation.

Your second response, I understand that you know how to schedule the task, but could not find the scheduled task in Task Scheduler

Please follow the steps below to find

Click Start , type Task Scheduler in the search field and select the Task Scheduler when it appears.
If you are prompted for permission, click continue .
In the left column , double-click Task Scheduler Library , thenMicrosoft , Windows , Defrag .

Here, you will be able to find the scheduled task

Note: To view them properly, you must display hidden task. Clickview , and then click Show hidden tasks

    I hope this helps

  • Defragmenter will not work in Task Scheduler

Defragmenter resets to 'never' after trying to set a schedule.  I put the calendar. Click all OK, but as soon as I close the Defragmenter, he returns to "never"and does not perform a defrag on schedule. "

Have you tried typing Task Scheduler in the box start the SEARCH Menu and then right click on Task Scheduler in the list, by selecting the option "Run As Administrator" (you must know the administrator password)?  See if you can then make the changes.

Defragmentation is running manually for you?

you try to run the defrag, but it does not work - just does not start, without any error message. I am running windows 7

    Hello jon_london,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

The service name is defragsvc. This service is now used to defragment the disks on a calendar. It will start and stop automatically and is not running at startup. If you decide to disable this service because you use another application to defrag, you must also disable the scheduled task.

To do this, go to start-> Control Panel-> system and security-> administrator tools-> Task Scheduler

Left column: library-> Microsoft-> Windows Task Scheduler-> Defrag-> ScheduleDefrag (under the name status triggers) right click and select Disable.

If you want to try and start it manually, go to a command prompt, right click and select run as administrator.

    Then type:C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe k defragsvc

If please reply back and let us know if you can always start the defragmentation service.

    Thank you

  • What should I do when I receive the message that Disk Defragmenter has been programmed with the help of another program?

I use the 64-bit version of Windows 7, 1.3 terabytes on my hard drive free and have a very slow computer. When I checked the Task Scheduler, it shows that the Defragmenter should start every Wednesday at 01:00 and the last time he had run was 12/10/2011.

I would like step by step, answers I can get, as I'm not all that good on the computer. Thank you.

    Solution...

Reset the calendar... to run every DAY.

This will be as EFFECTIVE as running the DEFRAGMENTATION program in...  AUTOMATIC mode...

Or, (mostly) running in the background, think about it, you are the one who has a TERABYTE of hard drive... to defragment?

The Defrag program defragments only the AMOUNT of hard drive FILLED, in any case.

I throw my computer this way, ETM, it works very well, indeed.

And I did that 2 x 250 GB disks hard.

    XP, on one.

    Windows 7, on the other.

    (Without "aid", that is!)

I used Glary Utilities program... for years.

It works vvery wel. For me!

Nest part about this, if you FORGOT to clean the 'cookies', this program will do for you IF you set up right.

That IS, to set up the section of Maintenance with a SINGLE CLICK, he always appears FIRST time run successfully, where each segment is CHECKED.

And you RUN it... until no. PROBLEMS appear.

As I said... I usung this program for years and my computer runs as smooth as silk.

Seeing that the way you run a 64-bit operating system... I WOULD add more RAM for your computer.

I would say that you may be using ONLY 2 GiG of RAM, a 64 bit OS that is not enough.

4 GB will work OK, that makes 8 GIg in a Kick butt machine.

Some time in the task of upgrade, an upgrade of... graphic .the CERTAINLY won't hurt, either.

He'll be fine, with this terabyte hard drive you are using.

Now, it will be that a machine might want.

I use a 322-bit OS, but this drive hard terabyte THEN is on my list of "improvements".

    Like 2 of them.

Thank you for bringing your question on the calendar of freezing and trolling since the update to iOS 10 on your iPhone for Apple Support communities.  I rely on the calendar to keep my life organized, so I'm happy to help you resolve this issue today.

Looks like you did a few good troubleshooting by force to leave the app, force to restart the iPhone and deleting and reinstalling the application calendar.  At this stage my next recommendation would be to backup your iPhone, then erase and restore your iPhone as a new device, then test calendar to see if it behaves correctly, and then restore your backup.

  • How to disable alerts from travel time calendar

From iOS 10, I get calendar alerts, not 5 minutes before my meeting (which is what I said), but rather these travel alerts in time talk about traffic conditions and if I leave now, I'll make my meeting... or something to that effect.  Is it possible to disable these and have just alerts timed static normal that I specify.

And besides, all my calendar events have time to travel the value 'None '.

    Hello JupiterOne,

Thanks for this info and choosing the communities Support from Apple. I know how to turn off this alert leave time is important to you! The good news is that these steps will be useful in solving your problem with this alert calendar events, you can go to settings > calendar > default alert time and disable the time alert off. • After the installation of Sierra, calendar does not work

After installation of Sierra, when you open the calendar on my Mac, missing entries and the screen is frozen with the comment 'Moving calendars to the server account.' I signed that I the cloud to see if it would help, but I still have this problem.

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, Stanley Star.

If I understand your message to the right, at the opening of the calendars for the first time after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, you are missing calendar events and the app is frozen with a message saying "moving to Server account schedules. Calendars, this is one of my apps used on my Mac, so I certainly understand the importance of having the opening and operating as usual. I'm happy to help you to turn it on again!

Icloud and a signature was an excellent step to try. Here are the steps I recommend to do next:

    1. Check that the date and time are correct in your Mac by following the steps in macOS Sierra: set the date and time on your Mac.
    2. Close the present calendars on your Mac. If you are also reminders, close that as well as reminders and schedules work together. If the calendars close normally, will not force close it by clicking the  in the upper left corner of your screen, select force to close, select the calendars in the list of open applications, and then click the button close Force.
    3. Go to System Preferences > iCloud and uncheck the boxes next to the calendars and reminders.
    4. Restart your Mac.
    5. A times restarted, open again your calendar application, select "Calendar" in the Apple menu bar in the left corner of your screen, select "Add an account", choose iCloud and sign in with your Apple and the password.
    6. Give your calendar some time to sync and charge all your data. Once it is loaded successfully, and you can see all your events, open the reminders and do the same steps for signing in iCloud there are also well.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.
