Calibration of the monitor... L * settings?

I usaully calibrate my monitor to a gamma of 2.2, but it has been suggedted she can?  better to use the gamma L *.

Can someone give me some info if this is true?, or,

Give me a link explaining the optimum settings in gamma of the monitor calibration settings?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you

Mike

There is no optimal target. Only L * if you have a really good monitor that can be calibrated to a deltaE in point 1 and you know very well what you are doing. Very few applications (only the properly color managed ones) will show you a correct color if you go. Otherwise, you should choose 2.2 and 6500 K for almost all cases. If you do a lot of internal printing and have a view calibrated printing environment, it sometimes makes sense to go for calibration of color temperature 5800 k. For some screens, it is better to use the native color temperature and the native gamma for calibration, but most of the screens do not need that.

Essentially if you have to ask, you probably won't do.

    Hello world

    Here's a question:
    My screen is very bright.
In NVIDIA Control Panel, I have 2 choices:
    1. other applications control color settings
    2 use the NVIDIA settings

If I choose nr. 2 - everything works well until the next reboot - ' other applications (I guess Windows OS) "takes over - monitor is very bright once again, and I need to go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and apply 'use NVIDIA settings' again. (However, the brand remains in option 2, and I have to mark opt. 1, then mark opt. 2 again and press the "Apply" button). Everything is a bit irritating.

Someone knows what to do in this situation?

    Hello

Check out this Microsoft page on the color management settings
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-color-management-settings

Very interesting the calibration of the screen part where you can find a step by step instruction how to enable disable calibration loading Windows.

It seems that the standard calibration of Windows crushes the nVidia settings and in my opinion, this could be resolved by disabling the Windows calibration.

  • calibration of the monitor double u2713h... need help with the same look on the two

bought the 2 monitors at the same time and just installed the software from dell.com and calibrated to both of them using the i1 display pro.  used in step by step instructions on photographylife.com and it seemed to do what it was supposed to.  picked native and 120 in the first step for the two, crossed the two monitors and save profiles on each cal1 named 'left' and 'right '.

However the monitors alike.  the image of my right is slightly warmer and brighter.  How can I get it so that both monitors are similar?  should I do the advanced calibration?

    TIA

DEVELOPMENT expenses calculated that lut3d is not so precise about white point. White point DCCS target drift is an old question, it goes the same for grey neutrality. It is a software problem that Dell (& Xrite) are not willing to fix. Run a check with ArgyllCMS/DisplayCAL for each screen test, then you will see how different are the white dots.

Order IR to match 'white' for your Dells, your best choice is to use calibration LUT of graphics card. Ned to do this properly, you can:

-a Quadro or ATI/AMD graphics card. If you do not have one, you don't get the strips, no mater what monitor you have. So if you have an iGPU intel or a nvidia Geforce... Sorry for you.

-a calibration & profiling software that makes use of a good spectral correction for GB - LED. Spectral correction of XRite for GB-LEDs is called 'RG_phosphor '. For example: i1Profiler or ArgyllCMS/DisplayCAL (v2.6 or v3.1, the latest is less functional, too mandatory 'clicks' to do the same thing)

The easiest way is to do the calibration in "custom color" OSD mode which gives you access to RGB win & offset controls for each monitor.

Uniformity cannot be resolved. This way you can get a 'better' white screen central match point (where you place the colorimeter) but if you have a more red/green shift on the left side of the screen, it may seem as if no white screens don't match not if seen next to each other.

  • Calibration of the monitor

I recently bought a new iMac 27 "Retina display and would like to know if it is necessary to calibrate the monitor.

I have a calibrator spdyer express which I used on a previous screen, but am just wondering if the new iMac requires calibration

seeing that it is the retina display.

Advice and comments will be received gratfully

    Thank you

If you have a calibrator material, you should definitely use it. A Retina display is just a screen with a much higher resolution and that does make a difference in the way in which color is rendered or luminance and gamma are defined. It is true that the monitors are equipped with internal calibration equipment, which gives you the best of all worlds, but, as far as I know, the iMac is not, and you know probably the price if she has that type of monitor is usually $1000 + buy stand-alone. So if I were you, I would use your Spyder, remembering to have the monitor turned on for at least 30 minutes and with the ambient lighting in your office/House representative of normal conditions that you work under. Then repeat the calibration once per month.

    Hope that helps

  • When my monitor goes to sleep I can't wake him up by clicking on the mouse. I have to restart the computer to see the monitor

When my monitor goes to sleep I can't wake him up by clicking on the mouse. I have to restart the computer to be able to see the screen.  I tried all turned on and on the screen but when I do it says monitor going to sleep

I assume you are using a desktop computer you are referring to the monitor going to sleep rather than the course of PC to sleep.

1 check the monitor power management & the display adapter in Control Panel, Manager of peripheral and during that control you the mouse power management and make sure that it is likely to be used for anything wake up.

2 in case of failure, then check the monitor & display settings of the adapter to control panel, display.

3 check manual site or the monitor stand, so the settings recommended.

4 then check the settings of the Control Panel, power options, change plan settings change advanced power settings.  In particular, if it is a USB mouse, you may disable settings settings USB, USB selective suspend setting.

  • Color variation of Windows 7 on two screens despite the correspondence of the monitors, model, connection & settings

I'm managing about 20 machines to windows 7 64 bit, but have noticed that, in each of them with two screens, there is a slight color variation (right monitor being darker and more colorful) between the two monitors despite the monitors of the same brand and model (workstation make & models vary).

As a test I switched monitors and the problem remains.
I also tested the type of connection cable / in case the fault is due to the difference between VGA/DVI but the prob persists indicating is not the screen, indicating that it is to the BONE (the denominator) as graphics cards vary also in the brand/model.

  • W510 - error HARD drive, gambling problems, calibration of the questions

Hi all users of Thinkpad and Lenovo. I'm new here and to the community of Lenovo.

I just renovated W510 a few weeks and love it. Laptop necessary for photography.

    Type series R96RGY4 43195RU

    i5 520 M

6 GB of RAM [Update 2GB]

    Quadro FX 880M 1 GB

    HD + screen 15'6

Seagate 320 GB SATA 7200 RPM

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Update Bios to 1.38

But having some issues, could not find an answer:

    1. as a hobby photographer trying to calibrate using Huey PRO Lenovo recommended tool. Problem is that when I run the software says "could not find the color sensor" and I don't know if I have it. I know, it should be between the fingerprint and keyboard player. What it looks like? How will I know that I have?

If I don't have it, what is the best [possibly budget] way to go on the calibration it?

    2. question - half-life 2 game. Downoladed by Valve. Played very well from the beginning with the "recommended" video settings But lately the game FREEZE a lot, it's unplayable!

I installed the latest driver from nVidia 6824, always point of FREEZING. I did back driver, still hurt. [if I remember well, it was well before I did of the nvidia drivers] I lowered same resolution details changed from the top in the middle. None works.

I use GPU counter acquired with Win 7 and it will never more of 130 f. I even had laptop cooler with 2 adjustable fans, adjusted on the GPU area. If the heat is not the issue.

    3 HDD issue.

Due to the game that I have run Thinkvantage material test and found 2 ERRORS [could there be FREEZE game question?]

FAILURE - ERROR WHD20-SR7 targeted reading test

    FAILURE - SMART self-test short ERROR WHD16-59Y

Here found navigation I use Lenovo Diagnostics bootable CD. I did and got:

Repair of sector test ATA failed - ERROR ID09H-0 CT code "your drive could not be repaired and must be replaced" [nice]

I want to emphasize that I installed Xubuntu Linux as a 2nd distribution. HDD shrunk using the Windows utility, install Grub in the MBR.

All workes very well, except the game.

Can I communicate with Lenovo and replace the HARD drive? About 198 days warranty.

Sorry for the long post, did not make too many messages :-)

Thank you for reading and I would appreciate any help. This day happy user of Lenovo.

The W510 series is known for having badly mounted coolers, I'm not sure if this applies to Dual Core versions however.

Even if your time is low, the video memory could be overheating because the cooler has bad contact with them.

  • Information to the monitor

I'm not sure of the relevance it is on this forum, but here we go anyway.

It was time for a new monitor, so I got the ASUS VS278H-P. Well, the colors are... "bad." In dream to my old monitor and all the other display I had before it, the colors were abit less dynamic and there was a subtle yellow tint that has been particularly visible on the Web anywhere white or white Photoshop like this forum. I messed with the settings, but I knew he was not the most accurate colors and the yellow tint remained.

I'm not sure what to do about it, is this a problem with the monitor? All the other show seems to have worked exactly as I wanted to charge out of the factory so tampering of parameters is a whole new experience for me. What I really need to invest in a $300 ~ $2000 for the colors to look right monitor?

This is a picture of the iphone to my old monitor, its pretty blue, but I assure you it looks like normal

Steve, open a Notepad window. I have as well as yellow?

In this case, there is a setting non-standard in the unit itself, no doubt the white point. Go in the OSD of the monitor controls, find the position of the white point and set it to 6500K or D65. While you're there, make sure that the device is not defined in some esoteric "Preset". Custom or standard, or something like that is what you want.

If it's only Photoshop (and your color probably web browser managed), you have been victim of a defective monitor provided by Asus profile. They are known for this, as well as Samsung, LG and many more. They can't can do things. In this case, throw it away and replace it with sRGB. Here's how (Windows Control Panel > color management > devices):

Yes, a calibrator as a Spyder or ColorMunki i1 Display that would set too.

Don't forget to restart all applications to see the change, but a reboot is not necessary.

  • HP 2311 x buttons on the monitor does not

My monitor has decided that he does not want to turn off, or let me any setting.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  However more recently, he decided not do not work any more work.

None of the buttons work, I get no message on the screen, I can't turn it off or change the settings.  I just got the monitor there are 3 or more months and this just started happening recently.  He did that sit on my desk.  Anyone with experience please help me!  I have an LG which is 2 years old and everything still works very well on this subject, it's not that I play with anything other than the power buttons, but it's pretty boring.  Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Paul,.

Your monitor is covered by the warranty for a year if you bought it new.  Maybe you need to contact HP support.  HP support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

Try a reset of the monitor. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and hold the power button of the monitor for 30 to 60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and it lights up.
