Camera Raw in CS5

I started just by using my Nikon D7000 and found that the last camera raw plugin for CS5 does not support the raw format the D7000.  I forgot something?  Is there a work around?  Does anyone know if Adobe is going to release a new plugin soon that supports the new format?

Thank you.

If you have visited the frum Camera Raw you'd learn there's a Camera Raw 6.3RC that will support this camera... available at www.labs.adobe.com.

  • My d7200 nikon NEF files are not open in Camera Raw in CS5.  Help, please!

I'm trying to update Camera Raw 6 version 9.2 for CS5 as ACR does not now read my NAVE of Nikon d7200 files.  Any suggestion or help would be appreciated!  I need to upgrade to CS6 or y at - it an update for CS5?

    Hi jennifern87216455,

Nikon D7200 files would not be supported in version CS5.

You can either upgrade to CS6 or CC version to get the latest version of Camera Raw, or you can install the free DNG Converter to convert your raw files to DNG and access then in Photoshop CS5.

Nikon D600 rested entirely when Adobe Camera Raw 7.3 launch but it was a preliminary support for Nikon D600 in Camera Raw 7.2 and

Photoshop CS5 supports Adobe Camera raw 6.0 to 6.7 only files.

  • Sluggish Camera Raw in CS5 vs. CS4

My computer is Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit.  Quad Core Q6600, 2.4 GHz, 6 GB of RAM.

When you run Photoshop CS4 with Bridge and Camera Raw, I could change the parameters, and the Preview update pretty much instantly, without lag.

I've updated recently for CS5, with its accompanying new version of Camera Raw, and I find that on this same computer, work with the same Raw files from my Canon 1 d Mark 2, it has a quite noticeable lag in the preview during the change of almost any of the settings.  It's pretty slow so he did seriously obstacle my workflow and makes me think of returning to CS4.

In CS5, I have the following Performance settings:

    Available RAM: 5349 MB

    Ideal range: 2942-3851 MB

    I use Photoshop: 3209 MB (60%)

These are the default settings used when it was installed.

    Records of work:

I have a hard drive physical separate, chosen to do this, different from that where the operating system is installed.  Only that the disc is selected as a Scratch disk.

    History & Cache:

    History States: 20

    Cache levels: 4

    Tile cache size: 128K

    GPU settings

    NVidia GeForce 9800 GT/PCI/SSE2

    Enable OpenGL drawing is checked.

These settings are pretty much the same that in my installation of CS4 (both are currently installed on this computer).

Can this be improved?  As I said, this is seriously slowing my workflow.

    Thank you.

6.7RC - installed maybe a slight additional improvement.

With this version of Camera Raw and setting noise of Luminance at 0, the offset is improved and is generally more usable, but still not quite so sensitive he was with CS4.  I do not seem to notice much difference bridge / Camera Raw from Windows or PS CS5/64-bit running.  And the Open-GL option seems irrelevant on my system.

The help is much appreciated; suggestions on some additional settings to improve performance would be also welcome.

  • Save the settings in 6.7 Camera RAW (Photoshop CS5 / 12.04)?

How can I have the plugin do not forget the setting (automatic "white balance", activate the default purpose correction)? I need to convert in batches to a bunch of files-dog from time to time and prefer that it is automated, then work on some photos handpicked for the very best results. But that would require the plugin do not forget that I want the lens correction is activated and the white balance to be detected automatically...

    Thank you very much!

    Hi David,

You can save the settings that you have applied in Camera Raw as a "Preset" and apply to the other images.

  • Update to Camera Raw in CS5

You just bought the nikon d3200 and shot images in raw. I try to open in camera raw and photoshop, but I can't. I tried to download the camera raw update that includes this camera. But it wont let me update - says I need cs6 or cloud. No there is no way for me to be able to open my raw files?

Not as they are, unless you upgrade to CC or CS6, or you have Lightroom 4 +. However, you can duplicate them as DNG files using the Adobe's DNG Converter. It's an extra step, but it's free. More details here: http://yphotography.co.uk/articles/get-adobe-camera-raw-acr-open-photos/

  • CS5 (camera raw 8.7.1) do not read files NAVE of Nikon d810

I just bought Nikon d810. I have CS5. All updates are up to date and I downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 but Photoshop/bridge still cannot read NEF files. What I am doing wrong?

The last Camera Raw for CS5 is 6.7. Only Photoshop CS6 can take 8.7.1.

You need the DNG Converter to change the Nikon RAW in dmg format in order to open it in CS5.

  • Two versions of Camera Raw on the same computer?

    Hello

    I have CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7

I have Lightroom 3.6 and I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5.

    I can't go to CS6 or CC

I will be buying a new camera, with RAW files are not supported in Camera Raw 6.7

If I install the camera 8 raw with Lightroom 5, I'll be able to:

-Use Camera Raw with CS5 8

-If not, I'll be able to have two versions of Camera raw, 6,7 and 8 on my computer and use 6.7 with CS5 and v8 with Lightroom?

or it would be simpler just to convert RAW files to DNG format and use in CS5 and Lightroom 5?

    Thanks for the tips.

ACR 8.x install unless you have CS6 or CC cab 6.7 remains the last word, as long as you have CS5.

But Lightroom 5 will work fine alongside CS5. Lightroom is completely self-contained and does not rely on an external cab.

You can send a file of 5 Lightroom to Photoshop CS5 for further editing and the final result will be the same, it will just be rendered by Lr and ACR. Full compatibility of workflow between the two, however, requires that the versions are at the stage (so both communicate and pass parameters between them, obviously not possible when these settings are not the same).
