  You use the latest version of Camera Raw compatible with Photoshop CS5. Later versions of Camera Raw will not work. You have a few options.

  1. download and use the latest DNG Converter (free from Adobe) to create copies of your raw files that can be opened with what you have DNG.

  2 subscribe to creative cloud photography ($ 9.99 / month) and always have the latest Photoshop, Camera Raw and Lightroom.

  3. buy Lightroom 6 (stand-alone version).

  4 use the ViewNX software provided with your camera to do your raw processing and save TIF files that can be opened with Photoshop.

  None of these solutions will give you access to your pictures raw image data.

  It's just not possible to upgrade to ACR 8.7 PS CS5 can only use up to ACR 6.x.

  Removal of Acrobat Pro has not solved the problem. It took one of the support associated with Adobe to modify some files on the PC.  Now works fine and everything to date.

  You can not update because you have the app store version. Apple does not apps sold through the app store to update anyway, except through the app store, and adobe obviously think we should create a new version whenever there is an update of raw. You can do it manually, but it is quite a pain. The directions are in this thread:

  CHANGE in the way, though I doubt that this will help with technical support (they often seem to miss all PES of their books of script pages), for the version app store your serial number is your apple ID, at least when it comes to the qualification of upgrade pricing and things like that.

  Nothing worked until I managed to speak directly to Adobe support. They recommended to install the latest version of Camera Raw Installer 8.6. It has not helped to open NEF files immediately but he fixed an error of 6.7 'update failed' updated Camera Raw! After updating to 6.7 all goes well, see my d800 naves. Cheers, Sergey
