    Hello

This is not an upgrade from Windows 7 to Vista.

It is a downgrade that Vista is the previous operating system before Windows 7 came out and you would have to BUY a COMPLETE of Vista version and do a fresh install of Vista; but before you buy Vista, check first that your computer manufacturer provides the Vista drivers for your model computer.

Microsoft sells more Vista; Try Amazon.com.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

  • You want to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional. I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional?

I want to install Windows 7 Professional.  I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional? Or is this correct?

You can still install Windows 7 Pro, but it requires a custom installation. This will remove all your programs (you will need to reinstall them), but you can save your files and settings to external storage before doing so.

If you want to make a place in the upgrade you will need Home Premium or Ultimate.

What Upgrade Options are available for Windows 7?
If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Business

Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.

  • The upgrade in Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello

I HAV downloaded the ISO file following from the MSDN (en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x86_dvd_u_677460.iso) site for the upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

How should I now improve my OS from Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.  Double-click the ISO file says that Windows cannot open the file.  How can I open the file?  Should it be converted into a .exe file.  If so, how?

    Thank you.

A .iso file is an image of a dvd.  It is not a program or data file.  You need to burn this image on a dvd with your burning program.  Copy disc, burn to disc.  We'll then work the disc in your optical drive.
