Can I ADD a video card?

Hey guys,.

I have a laptop HP Pavillion Dv5-1002nr with ATI HD 3200 integrated graphics.  Now, I know that I can't change the video card, but it is possible to ADD a dedicated graphics card?  The appropriate expansion slot is available on my motherboard?  If so, (I guess that everyone says is not possible) where can I find mobile graphics cards?

I mostly play WOW on my laptop, so I don't have a very large increase in performance, I would like to be able to get a little more fps.  If it is not possible to add a dedicated graphics card, anyone have advice/settings I can do to increase performance?  I already turned off background programs and downloaded the latest drivers from ATI.  Thank you!

Watch the snake, it is obvious that you have been proven wrong and you just won't let go.  If you like not portable, then stop posting in a forum of the laptop.

In fact, 30 images/s is very good for playing games, but in crowded cities and intense parts of some games, my lappie slows down in the mid-teens.  This is why I need help for her.

You said that the laptop I have specced would get 25 fps (which is playable) with high resolution of crazy, that's not even an option on this laptop.  Then I showed you that it gets 41fps in a resolution of the laptop.

Seriously, the original debate was that laptops can not play games.  You have been denied.

So you have decided to change the argument to the cost to get that a good laptop is more than a computer desktop.  I have to disagree.

Then, you have decided to accept that a laptop can play any game on the market, but you have decided to call it "Gaming Ghetto".

Then you decide that it is not the ability to play the game well it's ghetto, it's the size of the screen and the speakers.

I'm not sure you really understand the point of a laptop.  Let me fill you up, it's PORTABILITY!  People are willing to sacrifice some things in order to play games everywhere where they want.  It's as simple as that.  It must not be very important to you.

Hi all! I wanted to add a video card to my HP Pavilion Media Center m8300f pc but I didn't know if I needed a profile down so he can adapt or not? Help, please! Thank you!

Make sure that the prerequisites for the card you select does not require a six pin, PCIe power connector. Your power supply has no people.

I see no reason for the map does not work on your computer.  I agree with your assessment on the power supply.  I like Corsair and OCZ PSU.  They are reasonably priced and provide a clean and stable power to the entire computer.

  • Can I upgrade the video card on HP TOUCHSMART IQ525

Can I upgrade the video card on HP TOUCHSMART IQ525?  At the moment it has a Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family graphics on it.

Ah, thanks for the correction.  But the answer, unfortunately, is still probably no. However, you can check yourself by visiting the HP web site, go to the support section and drivers, then let it detect your computer.  Which will lead you to a specific page to your PC exact and will have manuals and other technical specifications for you.

  • Win7 has exchanged information on the material between the integrated video card and add on video card - need to share in return. Registry hack?

A remote desktop client from one office to another from 10 feet.  Now Win7 has become confused about the video card.  When you use the add on the map with two monitors on DVI cables, Windows thinks that he uses the onboard video (vga on motherboard).  When you use the onboard vga video, Win7 think he's using the add on video card.
Windows has exchanged information on video cards.  Is there a way to hack the registry and exchange their return?  Or clear the entries and have windows discover video cards again?
So far, I pulled the add on the map but Win7 still thought he used it.  I checked the BIOS settings and display settings.  Desktop is a Dell OptiPlex 980.  Using Win7 enterprise.
Customer does not do without office while it would be re-created, I was looking for a solution.

They would extend the desktop between the two monitors, but now it reflects only the monitors because he thinks that it's using the vga output (when he really uses the add on the map).  Discovered this when you look at the description of the graphics cards and monitors trying each installer.

  • Can I add a video to the IQ524 and is the maximum of 4 GB or 8 GB memory card?

I just bought a refurb HP TouchSmart IQ524 and naturally the biggest bottleneck is the shared graphics memory. I noticed that the specs say the system has PCI-e ports somewhere, then that means I can put in a separate of a certain type in there video card? There are instructions for upgrading the memory and hard drive, but nothing on adding a video card.

Also, I've seen conflicting information on the system supports a maximum of 4 GB (which is already) or 8 GB, which would be supported under the 64 bit version of Windows 7, I installed.

    Thanks for the help.

    -Bill

Upgrading the video card is very difficult, but possible. Use a MXM card and it fits into the slot on the top of the Board next to the vent. Keep it cool if you want to spend with her! There are like a billion live to open and access - but if you are very careful and keep track where everything goes - it is possible.

    Memory max is 8.

All your information is on your motherboard for Maureen specification: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01635715

  • Add a video card

I have a pavilion Media center m8000n pc. He ha a nvidia nforce 430 chipset. Graphic card, nvidia geforce 6150 to chart with tubocache. I have 1 plug vga for monitor

    .

I would like to get a new video card, so I can connect my TV to my computer and use it as another monitor or for internet tv.

Will be a work gegorce 8400gs 512 MB pci-e or a galaxy with 512 MB geforce 210 video. its graphice processor is nvidia geforce 210, interface pci express 2.0 x 16.

    My computer has a pci-e x 16 slot

If not, what type of card can add?

    ED

    Ed,

The NVIDIA 8400GS has a SPDIF connector.  The NVIDIA GT 240 also has the same connector.  It plugs just below the connector of the fan on the GT 240.

I replaced my NVIDIA 8600gs with an NVIDIA GT 240 and not had a problem.

  • 8200 elite Small Form Factor: can I add a graphics card in my computer?

So I have a HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor and I was wondering if you can add a dedicated graphics card. If so, what are compatible?

Video cards that will be compatible must be discreet and very low power 16 x PCIe video cards.  Low power generally assimilated to the discreet with less than 1 GB of video memory video card. Use these criteria when searching for candidate upgrade video cards.

The following video cards have been listed as optional and is compatible with your HP SFF PC desktop computer.

    graphics card nVidia Quadro NVS295 PCIe x 16, 256 MB 641462-001

    graphics card from nVidia Quadro NVS300 PCIe x 16, 512 MB 632486-001

    Graphics ATI Radeon HD6350 PCIe x 16 512 MB 637995-001

    Graphics ATI Radeon HD6450 PCIe x 16 512 MB 637996-001

    AMD over-pants 2270 PCIe x 16 graphics card, 512 MB

Upgrading the PSU to what would be needed for a video game level card is not sustainable for a Mini PC like yours.
