  Well, it's not entirely "automagical", maybe someone knows better as well.

  1. you create nested Style special Para with the line Style.

  2. with grep \A[^\r]+ find all paragraphs in your text boxes and apply your new paragraph Style.

  I found what looks like the solution to this, but it does not work (making it not a solution).

  in any case, I've created two paragraph styles ('First paragraph Style' and 'Paragraph Style'). "First paragraph Style" I put the drop cap, and I put "Next Style" (under 'general') 'Paragraph Style' (who has not a setting of the drop cap, or rather the settings by default ie. 0 rows, etc.).

  The catch: I apply the paragraph Style first to my text and... all paragraphs will have a drop cap, as defined in the first paragraph Style. Major sadness!

  You must right click on the first paragraph Style and then choose apply "paragraph Style" then next Style.

  (1) make a duplicate of the nested-style-parastyle called BoldNames

  (2) remove the nested style old style paragraph - now zero paragraphs have the nested style applied, and you have a separate unused paragraph with the nested style in style.

  (3) research the doc with a GREP query:

  It's more to do with the word processor on Windows. You don't say what word processing software you use. If you use WordPad which comes free with Windows, it is impossible to do what you want to do. However, if you are using Microsoft Office Word (that you can buy) then the CAP is set by default.
