Can I buy Windows Xp from microsoft and download it.

I would like to buy windows XP and download them to my PC. Mircrosoft does support this, and if not... can you direct me to an organization that does this.

Hello

Microsoft sells more than XP.

You could try eBay, etc., but the chances are that you can buy pirated software.

In your case, buyer beware.

You can also try local, small repair shops computer just in case they have some XP licenses left.

Once more, buyer beware.

See you soon.

How can I buy windows 7 from Microsoft when the store sells only 8?

Please - I know that I can get from a retailer!

My question is why can't buy Microsoft, why was it removed from the store when it is not yet near end of life?
I understand the new product "flagship" of positioning, but seriously, completely remove 7 - BEST PRODUCT of MICROSOFT FAR and using sayings like "it's 7, but better?"

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's not better it's a mute version 7 for lazy people learn a real operating system. IMO

Retailers will sell Windows 7 for a long time, as they did with XP (which is still in the stores). Microsoft, on the other hand, does not benefit from the sales and to improve existing products for too long. They put in place a life cycle of three years for their operating systems, and we invite you to follow this path (even if there is no 'natural reason' for a good product become obsolete within three years).

About the pro and cons of win 8 compared with Win 7, there are a lot of controversial opinions. Mine is pretty simple: I'm a writer, and my fingers are in need of a keyboard. A touchscreen is not sensible here. If read you, write and correct the large masses of text, you need a big screen. Not something with 7 or 10 ". If you need to compare different versions of an article, you must multi-fenetrage. Not a smartphone user interface with the apps full screen. Windows 8 is not made for my kind of work. It contains a version of dumbed-down of the old office, is not completely useless. All other "innovations", however, may be interesting for the devices people but not for me.

No. Microsoft is no longer manufactures or sells it. You * may * be able to find a
Copy in a store or website. You can probably find copies on eBay, but
Personally I would not buy an operating system too many people
were burned there with pirated software.

Restore to factory state out of the box. Can I install all updates from Microsoft using Windows update or can I install antivirus first before to connect to internet?

Currently Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 86 (no patches since 2008). Currently, it has no AV and has not been connected to the internet yet. It will be behind a router.

I had to redo the factory already reset after be connected to the net for 20 minutes and then a bunch of programs kept crashing saying Data Execution Prevention had to close the program StackHash and BEX error when executing update for HP drivers.

Maybe I installed Kaspersky first next time?

    What should I do?

    Thank you!

No problem. Install the updates. You can install the anti-virus later.

Just don't start browsing the inet by updating.

  • I bought a new hard drive. I don't have a system recovery disk. Can I load Windows Vista from another source and activate using my original product key?

I bought a new hard drive. I don't have a system recovery disk. Can I load Windows Vista from another source and activate using my original product key?

    Hello

There is no download available from Microsoft Vista.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key determines which Edition is installed.

Builders recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

p.s. If the old hard drive is still installed and running before you change on hard drives and you never received the to purchase recovery discs, you can make the recovery discs from the recovery Partition which should be on the old hard drive. You will need to request that the manufacturer how to do as each computer manufacturer has their own way of making records of this partition recovery.

It depends on the old hard drive still works.

  • I got a call from a woman who told me she was from microsoft and my computer shows signs of malware

I got a call from a woman who told me she was from microsoft and my computer shows signs of malware, then let him check my computer remotely, he appeared on my screen that I had 39000 flaws and they would now clear them for free, then, she told me that I need an internet security shield to stop what is happening again at a cost of £189.00 a one-time payment. I told him I didn't have the money and after some time, she put a guy on the line to convince me that I should buy this article, I told him I wasn't happy to transfer money to a stranger and I thought it was a scam and hung up. I noticed that they had installed a program called Advanced SystemCare3, which I've uninstalled it. Now, I'm worried that they can hack into my computer and find the personal information.

    Is this possible?

    It is a scam. See:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

If they have access to your PC, they can install any number of malicious programs, as well as you have uninstalled. My recommendation is to do a clean reinstall of Windows - it's the only way to be sure that your system is clean.

All the data on your computer (passwords, credit card numbers, numbers of account documents, etc.) may have been compromised (they may not know now). According to the companies concerned (for example your bank) what happened.

Use another PC to change passwords.

    Consider telling your local police.

Microsoft will never call you unless you request them.

I got a phone call from someone who said they were from microsoft and my computer was in danger, unless I paid 130 pounds for a new warranty, is it a scam?

    Hi Debra,

It's a SCAM! Microsoft does not make that neither have they partners that do and don't they hire contractors or individuals or even to find volunteers to do. There are probably thousands of these companies out there do every day - we get two or three posts like this (or more) each day ask about it. You are lucky who have recognized the scam enough not to be sucked in and eventually identify theft, infections, hacking your computer, convince you to buy software or services you either did not need or that do not really exist at all and all sorts of nefarious stuff. You'd be surprised how much contact us AFTER THAT that they realized they had been duped asking what to do. Don't waste time talking to these people, not give them any personal information it is, don't be fooled by what they can get allows you to see on the computer - in fact, not do anything they suggest on your computer or even to visit Web sites they recommend and for the love of God don't give them access to your computer.

Microsoft knows this is happening, but with these companies popping up like dandelions, or closing and changing names when discovered and operating mainly from abroad, it would take an army of lawyers to sue each other. They do the best they can, but they are just too many and more added every day. People need to pay attention to these things. They occur not only by telephone, but also by e-mail, instant messaging, mail and all the ways imaginable. Forget not that Microsoft doesn't this and hang up or remove the emails or messages or mail from someone claiming that they do because they know the information on your computer or that you want to get information from you to confirm your account so that it will not be closed and asking you your name of user and password and all sorts of other personal information. Microsoft DO NOT!

See below for additional information on this topic and what to do and how Microsoft works:

I'm glad you don't get captured by these crooks and save yourself a big headache. Continue to use the same caution and you should do fine.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • I can't install the SP3 from Microsoft Update Center

I can't install the SP3 from Microsoft Update Center. So I contacted Microsoft Support and ran diagnostic scan tool and sent the results. They send e-mail attachment reset_subinacle. It's done. FAILED. I tried 3 times and 2 days later... still cannot copy beethov9.wma. file. So now what should I do to get this SP3 on my son's computer? My son has enough disk space for SP3 and I made sure and prepared for this installation. Does anyone know what I need to do? Help!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    jneen420

Yes, I'm familiar with your recent discussions on this particular computer as well as the fact that he gave to your son as a used computer. Be so familiar with the history of this computer, I feel confident in saying he was already infected when he gave your son.

I fear that the only way to get this computer secure and fully patched to Windows Update will be formatting the hard drive - and then do a clean install of Windows.

Since you don't have the disks that originally came with the computer (and assuming that the original owner would have given them to you when gave you the computer if there were), we must assume (or at least to cross our fingers and hope) that there is a hidden restore partition that could be used to return the computer to the condition it was before first it left the factory. I can assure you that can support Dell & will help you, if not directly through the Dell Community forum:http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514.aspx

    Follow the instructions below:

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

HOW to do a clean install of Windows XP: see method 1 and http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978307

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care ofeverything on the next page before otherwise connect the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the removal tool appropriate prior to installing the updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).
