  • Why I can't download attachments in the emails? I use Wind.Int.Explorer.

Often, I receive an e-mail with a document to open or be ownloaded d. I use the new program area of Comcast .net receive on Vista. Comcast said it was a Microsoft problem. The document said that usually it's a Word 2007 Document allowing macros. When I hit open, it opens a window and save in a file. It doesn't seem to be a way to open this file in the place of «.saved» So, how to open these attachments?

Need a program on your system that can read Word documents.  You have MS Word/Office or the free Word Viewer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac&displaylang=en or the free OpenOffice www.openoffice.org (that I recommend in your current situation if you do not have Word/Office) or something else that does the job (but you must be SURE he can read Word 2007 documents allowing macro.)  Earlier versions of Word or Word Viewer (or same OpenOffice) might have problems with such a document unless they have been updated to handle the new format (and can be done at the center of technical support of Microsoft Office or by downloading the latest versions of OpenOffice or Word Viewer).  Once installed, then you can then read attachments and Word documents.  Try to open attachments again.

Maybe there is a problem with the associations.  Double-click on any Word on your system (probably one in Documents or on your desktop) and see if it opens Word and displays the document.  In fact, try to open the saved file to see if you can.  If so, then the associations work and which is not the problem.  If no, go to Start/Default / programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / search .doc and check the default program - is probably not Word.  Click on edit, then select Word.  If Word is not an option, click Browse and locate the file winword.exe (somewhere in Program Files) and make it the default.  Do the same for .docx and .rtf (and any other type of file that Word to open).  Then try to open the attachment again (you may need to reboot for changes to take effect).

If this does not work and you have the right programs so I am sorry to say that the problem is probably with the e-mail program and not with Microsoft (Word or Vista) - despite what you have been told by comcast.  Try using Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail like e-mail software to see if you can get your email and download attachments of one of these programs.  It shouldn't be too difficult to implement one of them (Microsoft Live Mail is a little better, but it must be downloaded while Microsoft Mail is already installed) - parameters should be essentially the same that you use for your comcast mail (you may need to go into the settings of mail to comcast to get them because they probably put in place for you and you don't know them).  If you can get Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail to send and receive email, and then send yourself a Word attachment and then when you receive it see if you can open it.  If you can, then the problem is certainly their e-mail software (and you can prove to them telling them that it works with Microsoft Mail or Windows Live Mail).

A work around until the problem is resolved, just save attachments and then open documents saved - at least you will be able to access the information in this way until common sense is fixed.

If none of the works above, try posting your question in the online Forum to get Networking, E-mail, to: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/threads where the people who specialize in problems like yours email will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

  • Can not download attachments in Gmail after new Safari updated

I cannot download attachments in Gmail, since Safari update a few days ago now. Or the 'download all attachments' arrow down does anything about it either (literally just nothing happens), or the arrow that appears when you hover over an individual attachment. Help!

Try control - clicking the attachment to see if you get a download option.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can not download attachments - Documents To Go

    I have a BB Curve 8300 with v4.5.0.110 (AT & T). I have installled just Documents To Go c. 1,000. I myself sent a test Word doc.

I am able to view the doc, but when I chose to download attachment I received this message: "full file system. I checked the free State of the file and I still 18170808 bytes = 17 MB. This should be enough to download a doc, right? File is 27 KB.

    Help! Need advice!  Thank you!

The phone can prevent you from doing this because probably it needs free space to run applications. You get a little low on memory because I've heard that you should be above ~ 15Mb to prevent getting phone most of the slow people. I use a memory card to store all my music, photos, videos and documents, and it is really convenient and handy. They are not too expensive these days either.

  • can not download attachments more

    Hello community

I searched google for this question and concluded that there is nothing new and about for several years through all the android phones. Now, he touches me, at some point during the last two weeks downloading the attachment has stopped working.

I tried with both the standard email (error message could not download attachment) app and nine (progress bar stops) it no longer works. I've deleted and reinstalled again, deleted the email account and he has added, changed the download size of email at all, countless restarts, remove / mount SD card - nothing helps so far...

You have ideas in addition to the reset to factory?

    Thank you!

It works again, it seems that Microsoft has solved the problem.

  • Can I download Outlook or Outlook Express on windows 8 >

I have a new laptop with windows 8, and I can't download in app mail attachments.  The message telling me to try again and it fails every time.  I want to download outlook or outlook express on my computer but don't know if it will work on this operating system.

Could someone advise me please whether or not I'm able to do this?

Outlook is only available as an article paid under one of MS Office packages.  Outlook Express is no longer exists under that name and turned into Windows Live Mail, which is part of the Windows Live Essentials 2012 free package.  You can get it at

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Live/Essentials-home

Note that you don't have to download all of the suite.  The installation program allows you to choose what you want to download.

This (and Outlook) work fine with Windows 8, but not with Windows RT.

But perhaps a better approach is to try to find out why you can't download attachments in the Mail of Win8 application.  Can you tell us what kind of you connect to a mail server?  It is an IMAP, Hotmail, or GMail, or an Exchange Server connection, etc. ?

Forever? Doubtful that many would be useful.

You can save them to RTF or export them as PDF. If there are attachments, you will need to save those separately.

I did a recent installation of a new HD in Windows XP pro and now find that I can not download anything on my C drive. I can move items from the C drive and I can't download any other player except the C drive. It started after moving the files to a disc on drive C. I can't even download attachments. If I try to download start download then you will receive an error message that you were unable to save this location and this can be due to a hardware failure or a bad internet connection. I can download with Bit Torrent for a reason, but no other program. I use MS security essentials for the first time.
