Can I feed 2 hard drives, one with XP and one with Win7?

I have 2 160 GB SATA HDs. C: drive is runing Win7, and I want to install the other drive with Win XP, for me to perform older simulations.

I unplugged the C: drive that has Win7 on it and went through the usual configuration with winXP, but after all installations have finished.

I am facing a blue screen that tells me I have a virus or bad drivers etc.

I ask myself where I want to install Windows XP at all times, so I guess that even if I unplugged the c drive where is installed Win7

I guess that as a 64-bit PC, it I cannot install WinXP 32-bit. Or what I have to erase Win7 first, and then install Windows XP, then Win7 after.

Please can someone help.

Thank you.

First, if you have Win 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can use the XP Mode (free from Microsoft).

If this does not work for you, what you want is called "dual-boot".  There are many sites that explain how to set up (and 32 64 bit vs has nothing to do with it).  Here's one (or use your favorite search engine): http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html

    Thanks for the info

You can't find the answer very easily.

Remove the second HDD Bay cover and check if there are a few HARD drive connectors/pins.

If Yes, then you could install a second HDD.
If not, you can not use second HARD drive.

  • You can use an external hard drive with the Mac Mini?

I've seen videos that say that we cannot increase the ram on a min of Mac, but I'm curious if this works like an ordinary computer, if we can attach an external hard drive to store some of the memory to free up space. Sorry if this is something stupid just need to know what I can do with it.

You can use an external hard drive to boot and run with any Mac. Its not going to improve or replace your ram. If you use a mechanical hard drive in any Mac then help and boot from an external drive, especially if it's a SSD will be significantly faster.

  • Pavilion x 2 10-n100na: can I add a hard drive from a HP Pavilion x 2 10-n100na?

Can I add a hard drive to a Pavilion x 2 10-n100na? I noticed that some models in this range, for example. the Pavilion x 2 10-n107na, have a 1 TB drive. These 2 machines appear identical on the outside, so I was wondering if the 10 - 100na has all the required internal connections such as I could slot in my own hard drive.

All answers gratefully received. Thank you.

    @Huffer

I noticed that the manual indicates that it is for some models only, but unfortunately there is not any information about who they are.

I have to disagree with you and say no.

You cannot add a disk hard unless your x 2 is one of the special types.

In the manual, you'll notice that even the keyboard, the coverage and the closing of the bottom are different. Take a very close look at this manual.

    Hey guys,.

  • External hard drive compatible with 10.5.8 os

Hi, I have an old 2009 iMac 2.4 ghz processor intel core 2 double running 10.5.8. I want to update the snow leopard operating system.

Ive been told to should save my system before you install the update... but I can't find an external hard drive that compatible with 10.5.8... suggestions any? (seagate / WD?)

    James NZ

Hard drives must be compatible with the connection port on a computer, not with an operating system. You can use any external HARD drive that can be connected by Firewire and USB ports on the computer.

  • I can't get my hard drive to recognize that I have a CD in the tray

I can't get my hard drive to recognize that I have a CD in the tray.  I can only open and view those that I already copied. Why?

There are a number of possibilities here.

    1. assuming you have tried several different blank CD (if you are fairly confident that the problem is not the media), it is possible that the laser "burning" the recordable CD is dead. Because this isn't the same laser that reads the CD, you can always read but not write.  If this is the case, the only solution is to buy a new CD player (not expensive).

    2. your CD drive (E :) shows when you click on my computer?  I think it does, or you did that you can open and view copies of files, you have already copied to other CD.

    3. open Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK)

    • Expand the category of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM readers by clicking on the + sign to the left
    • Y at - it a warning next to the entrance icon?
    • Double-click the entry for your CD player
    1. That said under the "device status".
    2. What would you say (at the bottom) under "use of the device.
    • Close the Properties window and Device Manager

    4. open my computer, right-click on the icon for your CD drive and select Properties

    • Is there a tab "recording"?
    • If there is a 'Recording' tab, click on it.  Is the box to "Enable the writing of CD on this drive" checked or unchecked?  (Do not change at this stage)

I'm not very familiar with Media Center Edition.  In the past, when you copy files to a CD, how did you do?  You just drag files to the letter of the CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer, or did you have to open an app?  If the latter, what application you use to copy files to a CD.

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a
clean install. A new installation by formatting the
drive and does not care what version of Windows is installed (or
even if any version of Windows is installed.

  • my laptop is dying, I can move my hard drive to another computer and still use vista coa?

my laptop is dying, I can move my hard drive to another computer and still use vista coa?

    Hello

It depends on the type of license you have, as to whether you can transfer it or not.

Pre-installed Licenses OEM (HP, Acer, etc.) and the Microsoft System Builder OEM licenses are tied to the first machine that they are installed on and channels of license when this machine dies.

    OEM licenses are not transferable.

If you have purchased your own license for sale retail of Windows and installed yourself, yes you can transfer it to another computer.

    Retail licenses are transferable.

Just be sure that you have only installed on one machine at a time.

A single license means one Installation.

And if it is retail and transfer you, in all likelihood will have to reinstall the operating system, as this disc hard the 'old' aura card mother drivers installed, which will cause starting problems.

    See you soon.

    Hello Vishal,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

If you purchased a computer with installed OEM Windows 8 on it, there could be a sticker on the Tower, or in the back (in the case of a laptop) with the product key to this topic. If there is no sticker, he can be preinstalled on your system BIOS.
