Can I get the Win 7 on a hard drive with multiple partitions without erasing all the data on the disk
I have a HP p6310f with a 1 TB hard drive partitioned into two partitions. One I have a Win 7 OS, which becomes more and more corrupt. I would get a new version on the other partition and keep the old version until I don't know that I have restored all the programs and data properly, just in case I need something and are struggling to rebuild. Is this possible? When I tried to install the recovery disks, they said that the entire disk, not just the score, would be erased. This seems a bit silly, but I am very worried about losing key information and programs that I am not able to restore.
Hello
If you use HP recovery disks to reinstall the operating system, you are right that they reformatted the whole HARD drive before installing the operating system. As far as I know, has no way around that. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure that you are able to get the installers of any program that you need before you restore the PC and maybe do two backup copies of all your personal data, just to be sure.
On the link below, just select your operating system (Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit) and verify that you are able to download the drivers and software you need before you reinstall it. You can always save installers for a writable DVD etc. now and then just to run it from the disk when you want to reinstall.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes

Original title: the file format of external hard drive is the RAW and not NTFS. How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?
I put the hard drive on an XP and Vista machine and can read the hard drive, but not with Windows 7
Hi Zling,
It works on other OS? When did you finally read the disc and with what OS? If you can read the drive and make a backup of the data on this subject, I you suggest to backup the data on the drive and then put it in using the NTFS file system.

How can I get my favorites on an old hard drive and transfer them to another hard drive?
the motherboard is dead on my old desktop - but the hard drive is still usable. I got a new office and a friend added the old hard drive from my old computer (which has all my favorite firefox somewhere) on my new computer. Now I have two hard drives on a computer - one that came with the new computer - and my old - so, I'm now able to move all my pictures and files, etc. - and even found the bookmarks of Internet Explorer - but, I can't seem to find bookmarks in firefox. I look under Program Files - and I have-see Mozilla Firefox but don't see the bookmarks. I have searched for it - tried the answers that the mozilla site says to do it - but I can't find them. can anyone help? Thank you
Bookmarks are not stored in the Program Files folder, but rather in their own folder profile 'hidden '.
This link will show you where Firefox holds all of your information and what are the files to be transferred throughTo access your profile folder, while in Firefox, click the new menu button on the right side of the navigation bar, click Help, and then click troubleshooting information. In the Applications section base, click the Show folder. The window that opens will be your profile folder.
Because you want your bookmarks, you should enter places.sqlite and then put them in the profile folder in your new hard drive with Firefox closed

How can I migrate my Mozilla folder on a hard drive with it works?
Hi, I used to love Mozilla Firefox but I stopped using it for a year, it is incredibly slow, you can't do anything! I don't know what to do. My hard drive has plenty of space, but I can not understand how to put my Mozilla folder in my hard drive with it noticing, help? I really can't manage google chrome more.
It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.
See:
You can also try a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.
See "create a profile":
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.

Can satellite A100-847 - I replace my current HARD drive with a SATA2 HARD drive?
Hello
I am currently using a Satellite A100-847 with a 100 GB SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive. I plan to change with a Western Digital WD2500BEKT 250 GB SATA2 16 MB 2.5 inch laptop hard drive 7200 TRM. Is it possible to replace my current HARD drive which is SATA with a one SATA2?
And if not what is my best option upgrade of the mine to a HARD fast (7200 RPM) disc?
Hello!
Yes, you can replace the current drive with a SATA2 HARD disk. You already have a SATA interface, and this means that you can use each HDD with SATA interface.
I don't know Mr. but as far as I know the Satellite A100 cannot use the speed of SATA1. This means that the new HARD drive maybe won't work with SATA1 speed but there is no significant difference in performance.
A HARD drive with 7200 RPM is really fast, but don t forget it produces more heat and needs more electric battery. A HARD disk at 5400 RPM is perhaps fast enough for you?
Good bye

Can I get the disks to a recovery for the pre-installed software?
I just bought an a40 satellite on ebay that works very well, except for a problem with the power saver including support software have so far not been able to solve. Make sorting prob will have to wipe the puter and start again, but I did not all discs system with the purchase. Can I get copies of these Toshiba so that I don't lose the etc. preinstalled MS Office. ? The other thing is that there is a licensed copy of XP PRo top but shd originally came with xp family, so what do I do about it... ??? have the license ms on computer sticker... am bit confused and computers are not exactly my strong point, someone help without so far assume I know something...?
Hello
The fact is that if you buy a new Toshiba notebook you also get the Windows operating system, drivers, tools and 3rd party applications.
All programs of this 3rd part of the image of Toshiba and you cannot install only selected application, but only the entire image of Toshiba.
Usually if a user loses the Toshiba restore cd so it can order it from the Toshiba service partner. But I'm not sure about the second hand units. -

I use a PC. Problem: When you try to export my photo developed in the library, message box appears that says, 'impossible to export... '. Offline or missing source files. "How to fix this to export my photos on my hard drive?
Lightroom is not in the expected location that he thinks that the photos are in the photos.
This can happen because you have (perhaps accidentally) moved, renamed or deleted photos or folders containing them outside of Lightroom.
The solution is to use your operating system to find the new location of the photos. Take note of where they are. Then in Lightroom, you can reconnect to them through these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing
As an alternative, if the files were simply moved (and not renamed or deleted), you can use your operating system to move towards where Lightroom is expected to make them.

How can I get windows 8 to recognize my hard drive recovered from xp?
I have connected a recovered hard drive (Western digital) outside my computer crashed, that was a win xp to another computer running windows 8. The new computer doesn't recognize at all. I have to go to 'help' to even find the control panel I am as unfamiliar with it. I would like to import all of my pictures and documents from the old hard drive. Any help please?
Thanks for posting your solution in return. Would you mind mark your message as response? -This could help others facing the same challenge... Thank you

I've been backing up my computer with Windows 7 Home Premium on an external hard drive. I've been using manual backup when I plug the external hard drive. I tried looking for the folder of Firefox but can't seem to find it. He recorded with all of the other files and folders, and if so how do I enter it?
Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:
- C:\Users\ < Windows user/login name > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ < profile folder >
- The file you want is called places.sqlite
You can copy this file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox back to C:\Users\ < Windows user/login name > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ < profile folder > and overwrite the current file. Keep in mind, this will delete your current bookmarks.
- C:\Users\ < Windows user/login name > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ < profile folder >
