Can I install a new motherboard in my system without having to buy WIndows 7

My computer is old and it came with a version of Vista OEM.  Subsequently, I installed an SSD boot drive and bought Windows7 upgrade to be able to do a clean install of Win7-64.  Now, I want to change my motherboard, so I can get SATA3 of e/s speeds and the USB3 support.

is not clear whether or not MS me to buy Windows 7 when he sees that I replaced my motherboard with a new one will not.  Of course, I don't want to buy something that I already paid for, nor do I see no logical reason for such a requirement, to exist.
Ms will allow me to re - certify my existing Windows 7-64 version once I replaced the motherboard?

I just had a long conversation with someone in the Group MS Activation (866-530-6599.) I explained to him my situation and he assured me that I would have no problem activating my Win7 on the new motherboard.  To check this, he asked my existing product key Win7, that he checked and said was "green". He also gave me an Interaction # that points to his diary of our telephone discussion.

He was quite positive that I would be able to get my active Win7 OK with the new motherboard. Hoping that it is correct...

Yes, you are right that DELL support should suggest your son even. But don't worry, finally, you are able to find the product key.

Is there a way to pull this off with on the reinstallation of the operating system?  This post http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news/2007/09/how-to-install-a-new-motherboard-without-reinstalling-windows.ars looks promising, but not specifically for Vista.

I don't have a Vista DVD that I bought the upgrade online. I have it on a spare SATA drive and can't burn on a DVD because for some reason any damned, it is slightly larger then what fits on a 8.4 GB DVD. I have a disc XP full version. The current installation is a clean vista who, for now, I forget exactly how I managed, but I remember that you can do a full install with upgrade to vista as long you have your original cd of XP handy.

    Hello Sqrly,

All you can do is try. It's 50-50 if you try to fix the MBR (master boot record). If this does not work and clean install will be your only option. If I were you, I would like to do a clean install. You can download this ISO (Vista) link:http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ but the use of this software to burn your ISO. Link: http://download.cnet.com/Active-ISO-Burner/3000-2646_4-10602452.html?tag=mncol, let us know if this allows you to get your drive. Follow the instructions. Try to repair your windows MBR with this disc. If it isn't you may have an option to make your recovery partition recovery disks or you must contact the manufacturer to buy them for a small fee. Very nice MOBO you got there by the way! ;-) Let us know whether, if that helps you. Make it a great day!

    Thank you for your help.

If the new NETWORK adapter is on the HCL, simply turn off and install the card NETWORK. No reinstallation is required.

  • Can you build a new version of an exe without having to rebuild its installer later?

I'm currently testing an exe LabVIEW-built on a PC without installed LabVIEW. Whenever I go back to the development PC to fix a bug / change something, and then rebuild the executable file, it seems that I must also rebuild its installer which takes considerable time.

Is it possible to rebuild an executable without having to rebuild its installer? Or a way to tell the installation program that he didn't need to be completely rebuilt, but rather just has to look at the new executable?

After writing this, I realized it probably isn't a way to do it, but it's worth a shot.

    Christian.

If you remove all the additional installation programs of your build spec, you should end up with a fairly compact to build installer.

I usually a specification of construction to complete installation, then a spec to build for the patch install.  When I make just a small change and know that the application will be distributed only on a computer that already has the EXE, I just rebuild the hotfix installation program.

For major releases, I will rebuild the full installer.

  • Can we install Momentics IDE on a Linux system without a head?

I have access to a headless (no display) Linux system.

I would like to install the 2.0 Momentics old or new IDE 2.1 on it and use its command line tools.

I am mainly interested in getting the line tool of command currently running on this computer, to push my builds to my blackberry testers - deploy.

    Is this possible?

I ran the "momentics - 2.1 - 201404211616.linux.x86_64.run" file, which has created a folder "bbndk".

In the "bbndk" folder, I tried running "q", but I get the error message:

    QDE: Cannot open display:

    QDE: Cannot open display:

    QDE:

An error has occurred. Check the log file

    Home/MyUserName/bbndk/configuration/1401121318696.log.

This .log is not really tell me anything useful.

I tried to adjust my X 11 DISPLAY dimmer environment to point to my Mac running the latest version of XQuartz server and it still failed to open the screen.  (Momentics is an X 11 application?  Just take a wild stab here...  Cannot open display sounds kind of X 11 - ish to me.)

Even when I try to run "sdkinstall - list", he complains that qde cannot open the screen.

Installation of the SDK BB10 and with the Momentics tools via the command line even possible in a situation like this?

    Thank you

    Ed

The cli tools should work perfectly. Did you open your Mac Remote X apps to connect? Maybe use a ssh tunneling X may be an idea.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I install a BB OS in my PC, without having to update my device

This strange question arises because somehow I've updated my "BOLD" to 4.6.0.185 with an official release from RIM, but then I deleted the BONES of my PC.  Everything works fine on the device, but I think that the Blackberry Desktop Manager is confused on this operating system is installed.

I don't want to have to go through the Setup again including update that the device, because you must re-setup of some programs, implement passwords, etc.  I would just have the BDM see my version currently installed on my PC

  • Can not activate after installing a new motherboard under Windows 7 Ultimate

Hello everyone I formatted my pc because I installed a new motherboard, now when I want to reactivate my window tells me that the product key cannot be used on this pc, my windows is 7 ultimate and not OEM

You should follow the advice of André and use the phone activation method. There should be someone who speaks English to help you with the activation.

Next time do not change the report, there is nothing in there that someone might use or rob you.

Try activating the phone and after another report.

  • We had Best Buy install a new motherboard and have now no Windows XP. How can reinstall us with no available disks?

We took our best Buy HP cleaan out and install a new motherboard, but now we must not be pulled up to Window XP and theyu advised us that we need to buy it again.  Is it possible to reinstall windows XP without buying the whole program again.

-What did they replace the motherboard with an identical?  If so, Windows XP may be able to run.  What happens when you try to start it?

Don't have they replaced the hard drive?  If this is not the case, there could be a recovery partition on the disk that you can use to install Windows XP.

Otherwise, contact the manufacturer of the computer for an installation disc.

You shouldn't buy a new copy of XP.  A computer repairman competent all these possibilities would discuss with you before starting the repair work.

I installed a new motherboard and now I have a saying of screen I have to activate windows again but activation fails with the message saying that could have pirated software. I walked into the 7 sets of 6 numbers, as requested by the machine on the phone. I also tried to activate online, but the computer does not connect. Anyone have a phone number for uk support it is a person not a machine?

original title: Windows XP activation problems

Your problem is probably because you have a preinstalled Windows - an OEM copy - copy and these licenses CANNOT be transferred to the new motherboards or new computers, except in conditions of warranty.

Activatin is using the product key - which consists of 5 blocks of 5 characters each.

The ID of the product that is referenced in the Sytem Propertyies page, will show if you have a key OEM - the second group of characters will be OEM, if so.

    Hello ricardoaleman

The system only comes with XP. HP does not offer Windows 7 as an option and is not likely to have the drivers for it. You can run the Windows Upgrade Advisor, but is not 100% because it will test for contradictory app and hardware that is capable of running. If it passes it still may not work due to lack of driver of the manufacturing support.
