I want to spend the hard drive on my laptop.

The question is, when I remove the old hard drive and put a new, obviously, I need to install windows on the new drive system, can I reactivate windows 7 by using the ID of the original product?

If this is not the case, how can I do?

Thank you.

After you moved to the new drive and are convinced that everything is working Ok, then you can format the drive or temporarily start from the old drive and open a prompt (run as administrator) and quick entry: slmgr /upk and press ENTER.  This allows to uninstall the product key from the old drive.

  • Using the HARD drive of a Tecra A4 as a for another laptop external HARD drive.

I have a Toshiba Tecra A4. I want to use the HARD drive as a second hard drive to another laptop, but it seemed to me that the HDD in Tecra A4 has a special bond that does not fit in a standard externel HDD-Bay. Anyone know how I can use the HARD Tecra A4 drive as an external HARD drive?

Subquestion: is it not possible to use a 2.5 "HARD drive normal in a Toshiba Tecra A4?

    Hello

AFAIK Tecra A4 has 2.5 inch HDD inside. But the HARD drive has another connector HARD drive that you can remove. The HARD drive is placed in the HARD drive chassis and fixed with four screws. Remove the screw and the connector. Be very carefully and take it easy.

After that you can use in other laptops.

  • Install Windows 8 automatically formats the hard drive? If this isn't the case, I should format it FAT or NTFS drive before installing Win/8?

Install Windows 8 automatically formats the hard drive?  If this isn't the case, I should format it FAT or NTFS drive before installing Win/8?

No, this isn't format the hard drive, what's done is put your existing version of Windows in a folder called "windows.old", it indeed erases old files of version and folders, leaving free space on the existing partition "NTFS" (formerly ocupied by your previous version of windows) in which is installed Windows 8.

And "NTFS" is the only file system that supports Windows 8.

  • How to use a USB to boot Windows on a PC, the hard drive contains no BONE?

I have an ASUS ROG G75vw with nothing on the HARD drive. Nothing stored, no OS, it is just white. I have the product key for Windows seven that is installed by the manufacturer. I bought the laptop used, so I have no recovery disc and no boot disk, nothing of the sort tha. It's out of warranty, so ASUS will not help me. I can't find any ISO files anywhere either. Someone please point me in the right direction. I've exhausted my known options.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • Can I reactivate Windows on a new computer because my only original was destroyed by a fire

    Hello

The title pretty much describes my situation. I had built a system to end more than a year and a half that I had installed a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Unfortunitly I lost my entire apartment in a fire. I had only a few things that survived and my product key and Windows 7 disc was one of them. The laptop I bought has Windows 7 Home Premium installed, but after too many install/UN-install of game demos, I needed a clean install of windows. (Among other reasons).

I try to turn it on right away because I knew there would be problems. Then I got. Now 30 days has passed. I went through the activation problem when I built my system because I installed it on a hard drive in one of my other systems (a 6 burn upwards), then put the hard drive in the system, I built.

Is there anyway that I can still use this copy of Windows 7? I am the owner of original and unique to this copy. There is the system it was originally registered and activated with is no longer.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Used to boot Windows - does not recognize the hard drive

Hello. I had my computer laptop vostro dell for 5 years, and I've never had a problem. A few weeks ago, I was starting, and I got the blue screen of death. I had the same thing when I rebooted. I bought a SATA dock for recover my files, so I could format it and start from scratch. However, the dock does not detect my HARD drive, although I hear the disc running. I tried to connect a Dell Latitude docking station to transfer the files, but the Latitude does not recognize my HDD ether. Vostro runs XP Home Edition and Zorin OS, Latitude anime XP Pro. HHD in question is a 120 GB Western Digital Scorpio for drinking devices. Help, please.

You boot from the disk and choose "Try without Unbuntu and change to your computer"?. Honestly, it looks that you have installed. In addition, using raid with Windows Xp support?

If you have chosen to 'Try' Unbuntu I recommend now you run chkdsk /r from the recovery console. The problem is not with the hard drive probably, but with the file system.

Download WIndows Xp Recovery Console from HERE. Save the file to your desktop. You will need to burn the iso image to a blank cd using the same way you did to the image ISO of Unbuntu ImgBurn. Although the instructions below refer to a Windows disk, the disk from the Recovery Console that you create will do the same.

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in your CD-ROM drive and restart your computer. If you are prompted, select any options needed to start (boot) on the CD.

    2. when the text portion of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recovery option by pressing R.

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.

    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If you have not set a password for the account admin simply press on enter

    5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k).

    6. at the end of the output of scan type > press ENTER.

    7 restart your computer.

  • I can't activate my real Vista on 'New' material by using the hard drive of my old hardware

OK, I got a laptop comes pre-loaded with windows Vista and it has got water damage and shorted, the hard drive however is in good working condition. I bought a laptop replacement because I didn't want to be on another computer that someone else would break anyway.

so I bought this used the laptop from a friend that he would use to intnet and games, she had similar specs as my old laptop except the proccessor was different but similar speed and what not. what I want to do is to install the hard drive from my old with Vista genuine in this 'new' computer that has a hard drive in a way smaller and is loaded with XP.

compatible sound and I have already, but it asks me for my product key that I have but it says its wrong (I guess as its headquarters in the old hardware) so is there a way to unregister the old hardware or upgrade my hardware information in order to use my old hard drive and keep my status as a true?

not only is a HDD larger but its quicker and there all my files ive been without for more than a year now and frankly I need it back so bad at this point

    Thank you thank you

Sorry, but versions OEM of Windows Vista cannot be transferred to another computer.  The license is permanently tied to the original computer, it has been installed and activated on. Carey Frisch

  • Portege M400 - Windows XP cannot find the hard drive

    Hello

Ive got a Portege M400 who im looking to get a new one, I never had the Tablet XP CD so im trying to install using an XP Pro disk, but whenever I get no hard drive can be detected and I tried another disc of publishing house also.

Ive looked for SCSI / SATA drivers but can only find RAID drivers which are not good for me.

I hope someone can help me

    Thank you

    Hi wacksonjackson,

Why these RAID drivers are not good for you? Windows XP requires RAID drivers if your laptop is RAID controller and there is no other choice to install XP from a normal Windows XP disc. Then download the RAID drivers on the official website of Toshiba. Either you create a new installation with the RAID drivers disc using nLite freeware tool or you copy the drivers on an external USB FDD and load them during the installation of XP.

Also check similar topics here in the forum. You will find hundreds of similar topics on SATA and RAID drivers.

  • I wonder if Malware can circulate and operate on my computer in the same way as LoJack where it can not be removed by simply erasing the hard drive.

    Hello!
If I understand it, when the LoJack software is loaded on
a computer (leave a CD/DVD) somehow or other, a change is made to
the BIOS chip. In turn, this translates into a situation that even if the
hard drive is wiped away, the product survives and can still call home.

Now, if LoJack for this, as I have suggested in the past, why not a
specifically designed * malware * do exactly the same thing if it was
planted on a CD/DVD which a user deliberately 'responsible' for an individual
goal? For example, a CD used to install drivers for a printer, or
Perhaps, a CD ordered by mail to install Windows XP SP2?

    Serious question.

    Hi Oscar

Hmmm I m not 100% sure, but I think that it s not possible to remove the HARD drive HARD drive password if you haven t your laptop.
I know that if the HARD drive password has been set the HARD drive is not more accessible and more usable.

  • Can I remove photos from photos on the hard drive of my macbook, but keep them in iCloud?

I just used icloud to "backup" 80 GB of photos that are on the hard drive of my macbook. I'm now able to remove them from my macbook without losing them on iCloud?

    All advice appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple community.

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.
