  Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

  Recovery methods:
   
  If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.
   
  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.
   
  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
   
  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.
   
  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.
   
  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.
   
  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.
   
  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.
   
  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  A general warning to help avoid this in the future:
   
  Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.
   
  Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages.   I have a file (says it's a file c.) in theTrash and cannot be emptied.  The message says it's in use, but:

  -all applications are closed;

  -J' disconnected;

  -I restarted;

  -J' tried press Option key;

  -J' I have display hidden files to see in users: home...

  -J' ran Terminal sudo commands to force vacuum (said cannot do).

  -J' did everything except try to change an immutable flag.

  Doing all of this, I also tried to change the name of the file to the trash.  That did not help so I would like to restore the original name of the file that I remember exactly what is running.  Can I do this?

  FWIW, with the opening of the Recycle Bin, right-click on the file and choose 'delete immediately '. See if it works.

  To copy everything to the flash drive in the folder.

• How can I re - attach a folder that I seconded?

  In the library under folders module, I had a connected network drive. When the photos on the hard drive of my Macbook Pro has got to be too many, I dragged the in their files to the network drive. I did it in LR.

  So far so good.

  Recently, I clicked on the remote drive in LR and clicked on the symbol less to delete this folder. Now, I want to revisit these photos!

  When I try to add the folder again, it makes me re-import them. In addition to taking several days to do so, it zero out all the changes and the changes that I brought in pictures.

  Y at - it something I am doing wrong? How can I just things back to how they were?

  Make a huge mess of things but long story short, I agree with a cloud-based backup service and yet all I can't seem to find my favorites .htm file (the file contains only bookmarks in AFTER that I cleverly eliminated my HDD, which is useless for me).

  Select drives, folders and Show Hidden files .

  Click Apply/OK.

  Navigate to the C:\Users\your name folder. Click on file and select Properties. Remove the check mark from the hidden option.

  Go to the menu, media, press menu, explore, map memory or memory of the unit (where you have stored the images) again, press menu and show hidden again.

  The mailbox list is divided into categories with such topics on my Mac. When you position the cursor on one of these positions (with the exception of the mailboxes), you should see the Word display / hide it on the right. Click view. The category of mailboxes cannot be hidden.

  In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle pointing to the right, click it so that it points downwards.

  Also note that you may need to scroll the list of mailboxes upwards or downwards to see it all.
