Can I uninstall CS5 and CS6 before downloading CC?

I have Master Creative Suite CS5 (drive) installed on my iMAC running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  Some time ago, I subscribed to the creative cloud and installed CS6.  Problem it caused me to have to wipe the hard drive and restore from the backup drive.  My last backup was in September last year which was before I installed creative applications Cloud CC.  I would like to install the CC apps.  Uninstall the CS5 and CS6 apps first? At this point, neither CS5 or CS6 applications have been updated.

Hi Stormy_Weather,

It would be best to uninstall CS5 and CS6 before installing creative Cloud applications as previous versions are restored from a backup who could cause problems.

Kind regards

Akshay

    If you have already installed CS6 and you think you don't need CS5, so you can go ahead and remove the CS5 on your machine. This will not delete your user files.

    Photoshop CS6 & Bridge CS6 come with ACR default 7.0.

    For the current version of ACR you can go to Edition-> camera Raw preferences under Bridge CS6.

  • CS5 and CS6 will organize not - tried everything...

    Hello.

    Photoshop is unbootable and just hang up in various States in the process of starting - I´ll guide you how it happened and what I ve tried to fix it.

    BTW I m a user of Mac OS x, version 10.8.2.

    How did - he started

    I was preparing 5 images in Lightroom for the merger of a panorama at CS5.1 - everything went like it s supposed to until the alignment process. All this has hung up and eventually I did a "force quit" (Command + Option + ESC).

    When you try to restart the CS5 it got stuck to the initialization of the preferences of color. I force quit again and I tried several times, only to see that he hung up at different stages of starting the process. Then I tried to restart my machine a couple of times, but it didn t help.

    I then uninstalled CS5 (do not clear my preferences), rebooted, installed CS5 and tried again - always the same question.

    I uninstalled installed once more, a test of CS6 only to see that this was the question as well.

    I googled a lot, read a lot of discussion in this forum and it seems to come down to my preference of Adobe files. I tried to remove Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Prefs.psp and Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp - still the same problem.

    Finally, I uninstalled the CS5 and CS6, only this time checking the option to clear all preferences as well. CS5 installed, rebooted and the problem is still there.

    I ve tried to leave the machine for some time see if starting process eventually "UN - freezes" and moves to the front, but it seems that 'eat' my disk space and I finally have run out of disk space. Right now I have about 30 GB left of all new SSD.

    I really depends on Photoshop in my daily work and am getting desperate to find a solution - if someone knows how to fix this problem, please not forward to a photographer colleague extremely fun :)

    You did all of the caches, such as fonts, colorsync, CUP, etc. ?

    If so, before you go to the trouble to reinstall.

    I have your user/Library/Application/support, move the folder Adobe somewhere else. And associated travel Adobe all files preferably somewhere else. By moving somewhere else gives you the option to put back all at once, or one at a time to try to narrow down the culprit.

    Before that, you can create a new user. This will tell you if the problem exists in your library to the user at least. If you can run PS as a new user, then you can do files above Adobe deletion. This will restrict it a bit, see if it's your files of the Adobe user or something else.

  • loading of cs5 and cs6 on my new computer

    I have not converted to the cloud.

    I have bought a new computer and want to install both versions CS5 and CS6 on my new computer.

    I don't want to disable them on my old computer until I am sure they are loaded on my new computer that I have an upcoming project and don't want to be stressed to get their load on my new computer.

    I have an Adobe user since 2005. I need a human Adobe to discuss it with.

    Condition that the new computer and old computer are all two Windows or Mac, then you're good to go.

    Download the installers CS5 and CS6 on the new computer, install and then enter your serial number. That's all.

    Download Adobe Creative Suite 5 products

    Download Creative Suite 6 applications

    You can leave the software enabled on the old computer. You are allowed a maximum of two activations of the software at any time, as long as you use only one at a time.

    Eric

    Hi Eric,.

    CS5 help is usually located in/usr/Library/Preferenecs/chc.487.../Local Store/Help folder.

    CS6 help is generally downloaded to the shared location, unless it is limited. In this case the folder above can be used to download help.

    Yes, the content setting in the Adobe help Manager offline, will work with CS5 and CS6 and help our customers.

    'Status to expired' usually means the State when local content goes stale, and new content offline is available on Adobe.com servers. Yes, a user can click on the button download/upgrade to update to refresh the content expired with the Adobe help Manager.

    Regarding the launch of CS5 product help, I'll need some more information to provide an answer.

    1. which product and version of CS5 is the customer problem.

    2. What is the status of help downloaded for the same product (CS5 or CS6 Adobe help Manager)

    3. is the user able to see help downloaded in the above files

    Let me know if you have more queries.

    Kind regards

  • Problems of cloud with CS5 and CS6 tests had

    Hi all;

    I asked for advice on this here before, but I've sorted it now and I wanted just that comment here.

    I have CS5. I added Muse and PS CS6 trial / beta. Which have been removed as they should be removed. I acquired Cloud.

    I installed the most recent request manager.

    I have to use CS5 and CS6 because I wrote / write on both courses.

    Whenever I start a CS5 application on the next startup app CS6 I wonder if I want to buy or such. "0 days left"...

    Now who can be resolved in the manner as explained in the FAQ here (login etc.), but I have noticed it is therefore not a question of an 'old' Application handler.

    Its a bug or such.

    Maarten

    Dave;

    Thanks for your reply.

    I had this problem yesterday, soon as my man App updated itself, when I opened it. If that doesn't help (or maybe it does after reboot).

    In any case this isn't really a problem; I click on acquire or such and that's it.

    I just wanted to comment.

  • How can I uninstall Vista and put Xp back on__

    How can I uninstall Vista and put Xp on, Windows Installer could help to put Xp back on?

    General information about replacing Vista with XP:

    A. on a computer OEM (HP, Sony, etc.):

    1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

    2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

    3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

    4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

    5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

    6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

    B. on a generic/home computer built (of the non - OEM company)-you will need the drivers for all your hardware. See the second link below for more details:

    How can I transfer CS5 and LR3 from a PC to a Mac?

    Hi nataliewebb05,

    It depends on if the version you bought originally was only for Windows platform or it-platform like Windows version does not work on Mac.

  • InDesign CS5 and CS6 scripts changes/incompatibilities

    I'm new to scripting InDesign and need to write a JavaScript very complex for InDesign using the Toolbox. My concerns are if CS5/5.5 users will be able to run the script written for CS6. He knows incompatibilities with different versions? If Yes, where can I find a document to compare the differences. I will probably need support the CS5 and CS6 (and anything in between), so a possible solution would be to build for CS5, but if I do, will I'm missing out on all the new key features of CS6?

    There are differences of 1 DOM version to another and they can and will break your script, if you have not designed to handle. For example:

    If you want to use script like me labels (because they are awesome) the following will break if you use CS5 or later:

    app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();

    So, you have to force the DOM to V6.0. But when you do so be sure to come back to the original version after you're done or you can create more problems. This can be done like this:

    app.scriptPreferences.version = 6.0; // CS4's DOM version
    app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();
    app.scriptPreferences.version = 10.2; // Current CC DOM version

    It is very annoying (for me at least), so I wrap functions that require DOM changes with a customized version changer to handle this for me. Regarding the list of incompatibilities? Not sure, maybe someone here has one, I know that jongware has a website with all the DOM password 1 version to another. This can be found here:

    InDesign JavaScript help

    I hope this helps.
