Can I use a DVD + R DL to burn a recovery disk?

I have a HP s5660f desktop computer. Can burn on this disc.

Applies to Windows 7, but may apply to other versions of Windows as well.
Software recovery disc creation creates a set of system recovery discs using DVD blank, recordable (DVD - R or) DVD + R. HP recommends to use blank DVD + R disks. Use a label of the brand from a manufacturer that trust you, because the recovery DVDs is very important. You need about 2 blank DVD + R discs. Disc Creator software program indicates how many discs are needed early in the process.

NOTEnly DVD-R and DVD + R discs are compatible with the program of creation of recovery disks. The following disc types are not compatible with the program of creation of recovery disks: CDDVD-RWDVD + RWDVD-R DLDVD + R DLDVD-RW DLDVD + RW DL

@rleigh... You can't use DVD + R DL (double layer) discs to create recovery discs. These discs are not supported for this operation.

@Starry... You cannot use DVD DL or RW to create on a HP/Compaq system recovery disks.

    I found some info on the Toshiba site and many F20 supports DVD + R DL media.

  • Can I order Win7 64 bit for Satellite L500-19Z recovery disk?

    I have a portable Satellite L500-19Z that was running a 64-bit version of Windows.
    Due to a problem, I had to reinstall Windows. The disc that came with the laptop was produced Recovery Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Not realizing the implications of the re-setup using this

    Now, I'm done with a 32-bit operating system, which means that I can use only 3 GB of my 4 GB of RAM. Can I get a recovery disk for the 64 bit version of Windows? I created, when I got to the laptop, a repair for my 64-bit system disc, but, of course, if I try to use it he said, rightly, that I do not have a compatible operating system version.

    I think that you can order.

  • Can I use product for Satellite P300 on Satellite P100 recovery?

    I lost the product recovery disc for my P100, but I have the discs for P30 and P300, which are all two windows XP.

    My P100 which uses my husband became so slow that I feel I have to recharge it. But when I tried to start holding 0, F8 and F12 (one of them gave me a menu, I can't remember which), I couldn't find an option that allowed him to return to the factory settings.

    So I wonder if I can use one of the other on the P100 product recovery discs? Would appreciate advice. (I used to own a P30, and I still own a P300)

    Hello

    Every single restore image is designed for certain model of laptop. Why?
    Each laptop model has specific physical infrastructure and also specific drivers are needed.

    When you compare two different notebooks there are different CPU, map chart, modem, cam may be and so forth. So if you want to have healthy market OS this won't work.

  • I want to know how to correct an error of SW version ID. Or someone who knows the remote computers access to me and help me. I can use limited however. I bought hp without recovery disks.

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Please give a better description of the problem. This includes citing the exact text of the error message (without paraphrase) and tell us when get you and what you are doing. A brief history of the machine and the problem will also help to give us a clear idea of your situation.

    You will not get a person of this venue to connect to your computer remotely, nor should allow you someone you do not know to do this. You can call Microsoft support and pay for it, but you would be better off to take the machine to a local computer Tech, a qualified person who is the computer will have a much better chance to diagnose and fix things than someone who works remotely. If you follow this path, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

    Also, please explain what you are trying to do with the HP recovery discs. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • EliteBook: can I use a boot cd on a portable computer with disk encryption?

    Windows is sprinkled on a laptop with disc encryption.  Is there a way I can use a boot cd to access the drive?  I want to get some files off it first.

    Ok.

    Then the simplest solition would be to remove the hard drive, put in a drive enclosure hard or on a USB to SATA connector.

    Now you can plug it into a usb port of another Windows PC or laptop to your business.

    Use Windows Explorer to access the disk. When the encryption key is requested, type it in.

  • Can I use another PC Toshiba laptop with DVD/CD to install the software on NB200?

    I'll keep with Toshiba and just got a laptop - NB200 - 11 H. Can I use the DVD/CD on another PC reader Toshiba laptop to connect with the new book of loading the software on CD? I have access to a series of Satellite P35 and a much older Satellite S2800-500.
    Thank you very much for the thoughts and ideas - it seems exaggerated to buy an external DVD/CD drive.
    Kind regards

    Yes! On the laptop with DVD/CD player 'Right click' on the DVD drive in "My Computer" and go to the properties and enable sharing. Make sure your 2 computers are on the same network. On the NB200 in the 'My Computer' in address bar type \\yourcomputersname(the one with the dvd), and then open the folder called example. "D" assuming that your dvd drive is the D drive.

    Hope this has helped.

  • Can I use my product key to get a vista installation disc sent me to start ona computer broken?

    My desktop came with Vista already installed, but after a total crash, I need to start over.  I have no OS on it right now, but I have the official Windows product key.  Can I use this product key to get a physical boot disk?

    Hello

    There is no free and legal Vista download

    Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

    Microsoft provides no DVD of vista for Dell brand name computers Acer etc.

    Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

    they do it for a nominal cost of $

    also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

    you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

    Ask them of the exact key sequence

    or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

    Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

    they contain all versions of vista

    This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Lost the disk for Installation of Windows Vista - can I use my friends with my product key?

    I am running Windows Vista on my computer at home, but I had this for a few years, and he began to have very slow, so I decided to completely erase the hard drive, now I know how to do this, but I need to re - install the OS when I'm done, but I've lost my Windows Vista installation CD , even though I still have my code/product key - it would be OK to use my drive of Windows Vista to friends with my product code?

    I tried this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/326246and he do not seem to answer my question - I'm trying to replace my copy, I just want to know if it is OK to use my friends?

    Yes.

    As long as it's a DVD from Microsoft and not a computer Manufacturer'e Recovery DVD.

    Read the information below.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
