Can I use my Hotmail folders?

I am a user of hotmail for a long time with years of e-mails stored in many folders on the hotmail server. Lately hotmail became very slow and glitchy IE: today it does not allow me to put any text in the body of an email AGAIN or ANSWER.

I decided that I have to go to Plan B, and being a user for a long time FB, study if Thunderbird is right for you.

Question: TB migrates all my files and content from my pc at the same time when installing at the start or does it everytime I open tuberculosis?

I don't want to lose my content stored on the Hotmail folders but Hotmail begins to be a nightmare to use if you need an alternative while not losing is not my old stuff.

Any advice gratefully received.

Yes, once the initial synchronization is done only changes are synchronized.

Note the changes are synchronized. It is not only the mail, drafts changed in Thunderbird will synchronize to hotmail, message status will be movements undated a folder etc.
