can it be configured to increase the maximum number of Ethernet Adapater inside the virtual machine?

with esx 3.5 and created a virtual machine to windows 2003 RC2 standard. VM configuration wizard gives the maximum number of ethernet adapater is 4.  It may be more like ESX 4 4?

Thank you

Michael

Is not possible.

It depends by virtual hardware version and ESX 3.x support only v4.

  • When a snapshot is complete, so I can start to make changes to the virtual machine?

When I take a snapshot in merge, a progress bar appears in the window of virtual computer, then disappears in a few seconds.

But a picture of a clock also appears on the Fusion icon in the dock. Only the clock takes a minute or two to disappear.

What process is the clock?  What is the take a complete snapshot?  When the progress bar disappears, or when the clock disappears?

Can I safely begin to make changes to the virtual machine, I want to be able to restore, immediately after the progress bar disappears?

Or, it is more prudent to wait to make changes until the clock disappears?

    Thank you

(The progress bar and the clock appear in my Fusion 3 that I use always happy... I don't know what appears in more recent versions).

While the stopwatch turns, Fusion is busy writing the snapshot to disk, so the performance of your comments and your host could be reduced.

As long as the performance isn't an obstacle, you can continue to use the virtual machine while the snapshot is taken.  Merger will ensure that the snapshot includes the exact state of the virtual machine at the moment, you started the snapshot: nothing of what you are doing inside the guest, while the snapshot is in progress does not affect the State of the socket.

    See you soon,.

  • Unable to connect to the virtual machine via telnet

    Hi all

The VM on Vcenter everything is perfect with the network connection. I can't do a ping of the virtual machine remotely but I can not connect via telnet.

For the same reason? And even more, I have disabled the fiewalls of the virtual machine (Windows 2008 R2).

The error that says: could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Can you please let me know how to solve this problem?

Since there is nothing blocking the traffic of the virtual machine in ESXi, you can begin troubleshooting in the guest OS. For example is running telnet server and configured to accept connections?

  • automatic start of the virtual machine on vmware player 2.5.1?

Can VMWare Player 2.5.1 the virtual machine autostart when it starts? I have Windows running VMWare Player when it starts, but just, this brings me to the main page of player where you can open file, recent opening, etc. You still have to physically click to open the virtual machine. So is there a way that I could automate it to just run itself when it opened (change of maybe a file somewhere)? If this version/product does not support this, can you recommend one that does?

Player doesn't have the ability to auto-start the virtual machines.  The fact of VMware Server.  Server start virtual machines when Windows starts, not when you start the server GUI, which is not exactly what you are referring, but is usually what most people want when they want machines virtual autostart.

'office' versions of Windows are listed as taken hosts supported OS.  Many threads on these forums about the small nagging issues with networking and such when to use Server on unsupported hosts, especially hosts Vista and Win7.  You don't specify what version of Windows you are using as the host.  If it is a server version, VMware Server is an option for you.

But a simple solution is to simply make shortcuts to the. Files in the folder of your VMX virtual machine.

  • Automate the deployment of iso on the virtual machine and configuration following the

    I need to:

    1. create a virtual machine with a certain configuration

2 specify an iso file to be connected to the power on.

    3. the need to have access to the console after plugging on.

I know that #1 and #2 are possible using the CLI. I need to know if #3 is possible.

I need to deploy a custom on the virtual computer operating system and must have access to the console to use options in the CLI of the target VM.

    TIA

When you say that access to the console after poweron, do you mean open the console automatically? If this is the case, then you can use the Open-VMConsoleWindow cmdlet. It will automatically open the console of the virtual machine in WebClient.

If you want to automatically run commands inside the virtual machine then use Invoke-VMScript cmdlet.

Please let me know if this is what you're looking for or something else.

  • You can synchronize a file to the virtual machine on two macbook pro

I have 2 macbook pro I synchronize files with every night. I want to keep the file of the virtual machine the same on both machines. If I run VMWare Fusion with this file to the virtual machine on a single machine, quit VMWare Fusion and then synchronize the file tonight, the other machine will be able to open it without additional configuration steps? that would be copy very large files...

but I don't see any problem other than

    Add
    UUID.action = 'keep '.

I do not believe, but you can rename the folder and see if something is complaining.  If it isn't, it is probably safe to delete.

The problem is exasperated because my press F2 is not taken initially without first mouse clicking, somehere in the start page.

So the order of actions is

b click the mouse on the settings window, so as he prepares to receive the keystrokes.

    Hello.

You can manually edit the. VMX file to the virtual machine and add the following line:

    bios.bootDelay = "5000".

for a period of 5 seconds.

  • need to configure a connection wireless network with static IP address to make a panasonic wireless display of work on the virtual machine

Hi, I'm new to macs and Fusion. I have a MacBook Pro 13 mid-2009, running 10.5.7 and Fusion 2.0.5, running Win XP Pro SP3 as the virtual machine (not in a bootcamp partition separate). I added a second network as a bridged network adapter (first one is set to NAT). I'm trying to connect my wireless panasonic (802 11b) to the virtual machine display, as I do on my old sony PC. Normally, I turn on the wireless on the PC, find the network wireless in Win XP and configure my SSID and necessary of static IP address and configure the NIC to search only ad-hoc connections (non-infrastructure). I also turn off the firewall so that it can work. There is a panasonic program runs on the PC (which I also installed on the virtual machine) makes it all happen once I have the connection. So the place that seems to be stuck, it's that I can't find a wireless to configure network adapter since--what the VM is a NA standard, so there is no place to specify the SSID, ad-hoc and disable the WEP key. Someone has ideas how to go beyond my current state?

In addition, the panasonic only works at 800 x 600 for the display resolution, so it will automatically change the graphics settings. I guess that's not a problem on the VM, but thought I would ask in advance in case someone sees a problem with it.

    Thank you very much.

    Larry

If the only way you can connect to the device is via WiFi, then you will need to provide your own WiFi USB network adapter to the virtual machine because Fusion presents only the network card Ethernet wired to the Virtual Machine, regardless of the host network adapter is the main map.

  • Failed to create snapshot - now I can not start the virtual machine.

    Hi guys,.

I took a snapshot of my VM and got the error:

Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/xxxxxxxx.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Reason: Invalid drive string: cannot mix ESX and hosted style discs in the same chain.

I deleted the snapshot in the Snapshot Manager, but my VM will always start (same error)

Can anyone help? Its a vanilla install, just 1 VM on it.

    Thanks in advance

Always pointing the Flash disk VMX configuration file. Whenever you remove the Flash disk, the drive-VMX configuraiton must be updated correctly. In your case it does not somehow. Anyway, lets get a work around.

1 take the backup of the VMX configuration file

    2. edit the VMX file

    3 scsi0:0.fileName = "QFES_1.2.25 - RHEL52_x86.vmdk" (Please check the VMDK file name correctly it)

    4. save the file

    5. turn on the virtual machine

    Check your luck now

  • How the physical machine can communicate with the virtual machines as well as the internet should work on a virtual machine

    Hi team,

I ask that you forgive for asking a silly question without doing a free search.

I'm using VMware workstation 6.5. I am able to communicate with both machines by selecting 'only option of home. "

Is there a way by which the physical machine can communicate with the virtual machines.

At the same time through the VMS, is it possible to access the Internet from the physical amchine.

    Help, please.

    Concerning

    Sriapti

When you use a bridged vNIC the customer acts as any other host, so that you can access is by his IP (or name if a DNS configuration exists as you acceding to any other host.) What tools you can use depends on the guest operating system and the software available.

I assume you mean access deskopt. Then you can use RDP (Windows Terminal services) or VNC (tight/tiny).

For Linux, you can use this last or all the flavors of SSH. In the case of Linux, I use VNC through SSH tunnel. You can also tunnel X through SSH, so if you have an X server on another host (such as the Hummingbird for Windows), you can open your own office remotely there.
