Can't play Medieval Total War on Vista

I put the properties to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and 256 colors.  I was unable to activate the administrator under game properties option.  I am able to select an option of campaign, a period of time, and a nation, but after 3-5 seconds, rather than starting the game interface and associated with the card, I get an error window microsoft indicating that an error with the program and I will advise if a solution is found.

I removed and re-charge the software several times and also used the oldest programs feature on the control panel.  I played this game without any problems on my older xp machine.

    Salvation;

I run a game program, (Medieval: Total War) that sporadically stops or freezes / crashes my laptop. Sometimes it works OK and sometimes it crashes.

I think it might be a graphic driver problem nVidia, even if I run other programs of game with higher spec requirements.

Is there any where on the Toshiba site, I can actually download new drivers? I searched the Toshiba site and found that there is some possible updates but no installation to actually achieve the download itself... confusing.

  • the total war Rome and the barbarian invasions installed smoothly, perform perfectly on xp, but not at all under windows 7

just bought the total war rome and expansion (barbarian invasion) today.  I installed the game and expansion on my computer laptop windows 7 and my the family computer that runs on windows xp.  on my computer laptop windows 7 installed, gently, but the game will not run at all... which means that I click on the shortcut on the desktop and nothing happens.  the only way to open the game is by going to my computer, select the cd drive and then opening the romeTW.exe file.

However, this makes me only to the main menu of the game and this is where the real trouble begins.  Once there, I click on "play rome total war" or in the case of the expansion pack 'game barbarian invasion' which instead of leading to the game itself it just crashes me to the menu let me back at the office level.

on the side, I met NONE of these problems on the computer of windows xp from my family.

I tried to make the game compatible with windows xp (service pack 2), which is recommended and Windows xp (service pack 3) I even gave a shot, but none has made a difference.

I now try to uninstall and install the game for a 3rd time and this time I will try to install under xp compatibility.  If you could please leave a message instructing me on how to do that would be extremely useful

    Thank you

    Hi the skins53,

You may be using a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Rome total war - barbarian invasion is not compatibile with Windows 7 64 bit operating system. However, it is compatible with a 32-bit version. Click here to check.

If you use a 32-bit Windows 7, try to right click on the romeTW.exe file and run it as administrator and check what is happening.
You can also check the event viewer for any game related errors.
    See article.
    Open event viewer
I see that you answered in one of my previous answer on the same question. Try these steps as well.

  • Error - Rome: Total War did not find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall DirectX.

Original title: problems running Vista on Bootcamp DirectX.

I have browsed the web for the last little while and cannot find any solution.

I am trying to run Rome Total War on Vista, on bootcamp on my iMac 27 ". However, every time I start the game is active an error message saying "Rome: Total War has not find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run." Please reinstall DirectX.

I've been searching the net and have used some DirectX downloads (9) on several trusted sites, but the error message always everytime that I try to run the game.

I have 'Run' 'dxdiag' and on the 'system' tab is says I have DirectX 11, section 'Information System '.

  • How can I get Medieval 2: Total War to play on Windows 8?

I get a message that says: "this application is not compatible with the operating system installed. Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or more. »

Is it possible that I can make this compatible game so that I can play the game on my computer? It worked fine when I ran with Windows 7.

    -Thank you

Hey, if I had this problem too

This is how I fixed it

install the game (if you haven't already done so)

    Perform a clean boot ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 )

    and then undo all

    then right click the game

    Click on "RUN AS ADMIN".

    then run normally
    IF YOU HAVE KINGDOMS

which may or may not work, so if it doesn't work and it says: "cannot find kindgoms.exe".

    then run normally

If you are having problems with the THIRD AGE: TOTAL WAR

    then do this

do everything until the handle he leaves normally

    Reach

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \SEGA\Medieval II War\mods Total

    or if its steam then

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II War\mods Total

then change the name of the game you play less, IE. Americas

    change for americas2

then change Third_Age_3 in the Americas

(It's not permanent, if you want to play Americas even once, go and return Americas third_age_3 and then return to americas2 americas)

There operate normally. I hope this has helped

  • Can I play Xbox 360 games on my Windows Vista laptop?

    From: Scott

I just got a new laptop because my old is dead and it is running vista and it has a socket to plug a x box 360 control in and theres all this hype x box 360 and vista together so I was wondering, that would happen if I stick a 360 game disc in the computer. so, what would I be able to play this match as if it were a x box 360 with a computer instead of a TV screen or it would destroy my laptop I need to know. I mean I'd be pised if I went and spent the money on a 360 and then discovered that I could have just played on my computer.

To put it simply, can I play a box x / x box 360 game on my laptop.

    From: Dale M. White

    Simple answer No

Longer answer, no. Xbox306 games are written for PowerPC, which if I remember correctly a RISC based chips and Intels\AMDs are CISC based chips.

The excitement of Xbox360 and Vista, was more in the sense to implement the sharing of multimedia files and at some point, but always on paper. Set up the games between a PC and a Player X 360, through their Xbox live, to talk to inluce to link your xbox live with the X 360 has.
