My hard drive is partitioned to C & D with Vista Home Premium installed on both. D was used to test the software and, after several installs and uninstalls, it's a mess and I want to start with a clean drive. My question is can use the Dell Factory Image Restore to redo the D drive with all the drivers, etc. rather than a clean Windows Installer with the hassle of installing software and drivers? I ran the restore to see if he offered an option to choose which drive to restore but it didn't. He only asked if I wanted to format the drive, so I stopped here assuming that it would be to format my C drive.

Anyone know how and if I can do in terms of the restoration on the D drive.

  • Dell factory image restore?

    Hiya,

I had problems with my laptop - it won't start, freezes after 2 minutes. I tried the system restore, boot repair, tried to start with different configurations, but it still won't start!

Last resort I think about running a dell factory image restore from the system recovery options. I know how to do it, but I wonder if this will remove the vista OS in my laptop? I was not sent recovery discs with my laptop so if it removes vista - I'll be in a bit of a pickle!

Thanks, any help will be very appreciated!

    :)

A factory image makes exactly the same when you got it. So you will have
get a new copy of Vista.

  • Problems with Dell Factory Image Restore - Dell Inspiron 1564 - Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hello

My laptop (Dell Inspiron 1564 - Windows 7 Home Premium) slowed down a few days ago and I decided to restore the system to Dell Factory Image. The process started but stopped at most of halfway and gave the following message: "unable to apply the Image. I rebooted the system, but it would now not start, not even in safe mode! Perhaps, during the process of restoring a few essential Windows files have been erased.

I want to restore the Image of Dell and can not reinstall Windows because I lost the product key of my Windows 7 original installation DVD provided by Dell at the time of the purchase of the laptop. Your help / advice is solicited and would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

P.S. The system recovery Partition is intact and has factory.wim and other related directories / files intact.

If you use the Windows 7 Home Premium DVD Dell reinstallation it will automatically apply the Dell OEM SLP activation. In short, a product key is entered from the DVD and active if and only if the BIOS is validated by Dell to perform Windows 7. Therefore, you do not have the key 25-digit number on the certificate of authenticity. If you want to know the code then look under the battery.

  • Reference helps Dell factory image restore

I'm trying to restore my laptop (studio xps 16) settings using the recovery image. If I look in my computer, I can see C and D drives. D is my recovery with 7 GB full partition out of 10 GB. It's good and dandy except when I open drive D, there is a folder that says recovery that is empty. Why is it empty when there are 7 GB of files in there? I have already hidden files shown. I don't know how else to restore my laptop. Any ideas?

Also, I downloaded home edition of partition Wizard, and I was able to view files on the recovery partition. For some reason any this program allows me to see, so I know they are there. But, when windows Explorer regularly to look in the folder of recovery there is no files.

its been a while that I did it, but I will try as much as possible...

-try to put in your drive installation and startup disk.
-in the menu it will say install now, but at the bottom it will say fix your computer (click here)... .it should look like this
-The command line option-click and you're ready to type a few things.
-Make sure you have everything backed up on the disk you want to format.
-type diskpart in the invitation of commpand and wait for it to load
-When you can type again, type: list disk
-type: select disk n , where n is the number of the player you want in the list before
-now type: list partition and find the number of the partition to format
-type: select partition n , where n is the number of the partition of the last step
-now type: format partition n to erase all data from the partition
This should be it for formatting the drive, now type in the command line to restore your stuff
now, if your image is on the site of dell at the factory (d) recovery, then...
    type this: imagex/apply d:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\

He should take some time to format and restore, so please be patient
When her if everything is done, it is not the type of output, just type exit until the command prompt window disappeared.
you will then be back in the recovery menu, you can restart your pc (make sure that you change the boot option back to hardrive instead of "boot disk")
    and you should be done.

I have a Windows Vista laptop and I got a virus so I went to the system recovery options to restore it to a factory State.  It starts, but it doesn't actually do anything, and now my computer won't even fully start.  Just, it starts and load the Dell page and then bar Windows load and then it starts the startup repair but nothing is ever able to set.

After I click "Yes, refomat hard drive and restore system software provided the factory", I get the following message: "RESTORE PC: access denied \Tools\dp.sc.»  I asked the Commission on the response of Microsoft Windows what to do, and that's the answer:

On the map of the response of Microsoft Windows, I was given these instructions: you would seem to be following information correctly according to the directives of their Dell link: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=DSN_336966&isLegacy=true

When I go into advanced mode Safe Boot Options menu, it says to select "repair your computer".  The only problem is, I do not have this as an option.

    Hi John,.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Dell backup and restore solution is designed to provide a simple and effective way to recover from a failure of a software, or simply refresh the original operating system to the Dell factory image before the redeployment.
To aid recovery utility and backup Dell is the fastest way to restore your computer to the Dell factory image as a re - install manual operating system (IMRT) takes longer to complete and requires additional steps.

In addition to the reinstallation of Windows, a manual IMRT requires installation of each of the drivers of the device independently and then separately also of software. The Dell Backup and Recovery Utility creates an image of the installed operating system settings, drivers, software and system, when the user creates a backup.

  • Error code #0xe0f00013, using the factory image restore

    Hello world

I've had this laptop for about 8 months. The model is HP PAVILION DV6T-4000 NOTEBOOK of NOTES,

I'm a software developer, so I need to install Linux on this machine using dual boot.

I created the recovery disks before installing linux.

Once I installed linux, windows 7 has stopped working and started asking for the disc of windows 7. Using recovery discs, couldn't find an option to restore the old installation of windows 7 (these options are disabled). Other options of formatting HD and restore out-of-factory State were available. In the end, I had to select restore factory image.

When I boot the recovery dvd and do a system restore it support all 5 discs and the 6th disc when it is 83% and is "copy files needed to restore the hard disk" it throws below error:

"Recovery Manager is unable to restore your computer by using the original image.  Please contact HP support.  "Error code: 0xe0f00013.

I tried to restore it 3 - 4 times, each time that the result would be the same.

I ran HD self-test, which doesn't show any problem with my HD recovery, I created discs are cool and have no scratches. I'm not sure what the cause of this problem.

    All this raises questions under:

    (1) what is the hexadecimal code "0xe0f00013?"

    (2) once we buy a "personal" NOTEBOOK, should we not be free to install any operating according to our need?

    3) why HP does not provide with a Windows disc, and why should we depend on recovery disks, or the recovery partition; These unreliable mechanisms?

Earlier, I had a Dell laptop that provided me with all the windows and recovery disks.

I bought HP recovery discs. lets see if provided HP recovery disks.

If anyone has any other work around, please help.

    Thank you.

    Hello

There may be a work-around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the retail version accurate, you would need.

If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link...

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key located on the underside of your laptop when asked and once installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

    Kind regards
