Cannot access BIOS for Compaq CQ35

Hello

I have a Compaq Presario CQ35-213TX.

The original with Windows 7 hard disk crashed and I managed to change and installed Win8.

However, I can't access the BIOS.

The BIOS resides in a hidden partition on the hard drive of origin who had disappeared after I change it?

Hope you can teach me how to restore the BIOS.

Thank you.

Derrick

Hi Derrick,

Try the following.

Turn off the laptop by holding the SHIFT key and clicking on stop - this will temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.

When the laptop has stopped, press next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to launch the Start Menu, and then select the Bios Menu ( f10 ).

Kind regards

Make sure that your antivirus program is disabled. It should be in safe mode, but check to be sure.

If the antivirus program is active for a windows-based BIOS flash, the antivirus program may try to interrupt the flash 'think' a virus attacks the BIOS. A BIOS flash interrupted computer = death.

  • Cannot access BIOS laptop Aspire 7250

Hi all, I have a laptop Acer Aspire 7250-0209 who cannot access the BIOS menu. When I turn on the laptop it just see the Acer boot screen and then immediately switch to a black screen with white text saying "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key any." At first I thought that the HD was defective, so I replaced with a new HD but still its giving the same problem. Not only can I not load/start windows but there is no option to access the BIOS (even I tried pressing F2, F10, F12, delete). Please can someone enlighten me on what is possible for me to be able to access the BIOS and reinstall windows. Thank you

  • Cannot access BIOS after own Win 7 installed on the new HD

The machine is HP Elite E9240F. Here's what I did.

1 replace the plant HD with faster player - went well

    2. clean install Win 7 on new drive - activate - went well

3 reinstall the disc supplied with the box in the first place & format - went well.

Now everything starts fine, and loads of Windows. NO problem BUT I cannot access the BIOS more. Not that I need at this time, but I would like to know that where I did it, I could.

Repeated F1 or F11 at startup pressure will produce the black screen for the Windows Boot Manager.

I removed the CMOS battery and retried - same results. I can access the blue screen when I select the boot sequence by pressing ESC but never can I go back in the system BIOS.

    Thoughts?

  • 6 beeps startup then normal but cannot access bios

My computer is a desktop HP ENVY h8xt, Intel® Core™ i7-3770, 3.4 Ghz (Costco) which is the same as the HP 1420 t CTO with 64-bit Windows 8 H8

I added a FX - 785 A-ZDF4 Double D XFX Radeon HD 7850 1 GB 256 - bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x 16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX... When I start, I hear 6 beeps, and then the computer starts fine and the video card.  However, when I try to access the bios by pressing f10 at startup, the computer restarts.  I'm unable to access the bios to try one of the solutions I've seen on the forums.  How can I eliminate the beeps and access the bios?

I've also updated the PSU to an OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V SLI certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC power supply which should have a lot of power (700w).

I managed to solve this problem, and obviously it's a thing of Windows 8.  Obviously when you add a market after video card in a "certified Windows 8" PC, you will need to disable "secure starting", according to this link.

In addition, in order to access the bios of Windows 8 you must get the bios from Windows 8 according to this link.

Among the many changes coming to Windows 8 new computers designed for this is a change in the way we access BIOS of our computers. >>

This allowed me to get into the bios and disable start-up secure and everything's fine.

  • Lenovo U410 - cannot access BIOS

After I pressed Fn + F2, the message in the lower left corner changed "press fn + f2... "to"pending ". But then, it accesses the windows system.

I also tried with F2 without success. FN + F12 does not even change the message to the start screen.

I suspect it has something to do with UEFI-mode Setup of Windows 8. Since then, I have this problem of BIOS.

Try to disconnect the battery of the BIOS as well as any other power source. It shows a checksum error and the message "Press F2 for boot options." If I press F2, but it just goes back to Windows again. After that, there is no error message more, but the problem is still there. Nothing changes fundamentally.

Is any method of recovering the BIOS for this laptop available? There is still no BIOS file official website but.

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.

  • Updating BIOS for Compaq Presario V5201US with the version of BIOS F.41

Hello. Is it possible to update the version of the BIOS for my Compaq Presario V5201US laptop? This version is F.41

There is a BIOS F.54 available here:

The problem is this is an executable of Vista and there was problems with trying to flash executable under Windows 7 Vista if that's what you run. What problem do you think that will set a BIOS update?
