Windows cannot check the updates - C800044E error code
Hello
Since yesterday, I get a notification icon in the taskbar indicating that windows cannot check the updates. If I click on the icon and then click on the button "check for updates" in the new window, the search end reports that an error has occurred and the error code is C800044E. This happens every time after the computer starts and when I try to manually check for updates.
The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with OEM license.
I already googled for this error code, but none of the suggestions found during the search worked. Mode by default with no results, I installed the MicrosoftFixit50202 (have not tried yet aggressive mode). I ran the malware Microsoft Windows (without threats found) removal tool. I downloaded and installed manually the KB947821 update for vista, also without results.
The last successful update is dated more than a month previously, and I assume that at the same time, some important updates may appear. Can someone help me with this problem?
I've already solved the problem by using the system restore (I used a restore enjoyed a week point).
I'll answer your questions anyway, in which case this may help solve one similar problem to others:
1 Vista SP2 (all updates important/critical installed as of October 1, 2010)
2. Eset NOD32 antivirus/antispyware with current subscription. No third-party firewall (just the windows firewall).
3-4. I have never installed a Norton or McAfee application on this computer, but I'm not sure if a trial version of Norton AV is pre-installed with this computer (if it did, I removed it when I originally set up the computer - almost 3 years ago).

OP: Action Center... PC problem: 1 important message
After the failure of the attempt to install the JAVA update, I received this message from Action Center... Windows cannot check the updates. So I was taken to the dialog box and retried to check the updates of windows fails again with the code D0000034. Also did a system restore to the place before the installation of JAVA update attempt, but was no help. Can you help me?
Hello Irfan,
Thanks again for your response. Since your last I discovered through my system status (Control Panel), I wrote that my product ID and the Windows 7 activation status not available. So I followed instuctions to help and microsoft support to activate. Yet once, I got the error code D0000034 as before with the problem of update. However, I was given the opportunity to phone, but received no phone #. I bought the DVD of Windows 7 and installed on the PC that was custom built for me. On the site Web microsoft help and support, I was asked for the product ID, which according to them is a # 20 numbers. Not the only one, I have is the product key which is one 25-alpha-numeric. I tried to enter only and does not pass. This is why I say that I can pay for help since I did not ' have the product ID. Maybe it isn't your area of expertise, Irfan, but I was hoping... I re - install windows on last April when I got in trouble and probably did not re - activate? What do you think? If you can get back on track, I would be very grateful and thank you once again to be a big help!

Please ignore above request. I have since re-activated Windows and the problem was solved with technical assistance telephone and thank you again for your help, Irfan. Also thanks to all the people answering the phone at microsoft. The experience I had was really a pleasure. I wasn't expecting such an attitude courteous and professional.
Keep up the good work,

Check if you have webmail access if your e-mail provider offers this option.
If it works, check that your antivirus software is not messy things up. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
Also, check with your email provider that they have not changed their settings for accounts.
If it's just the Inbox that has problems, then try to compact and repair the database of WinMail see also www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/)

Windows cannot check the updates for Vista
Entertainment HP Pavilion Notebook - Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition. Last month, Windows didn't install updates. Went online - route taken to fix this - restore the system to an earlier date and no change. Roxio Videowave no longer works correctly as well as other software problems. Read reviews from customers online, but want to know if I need to restore my computer laptop settings before installing Windows 7? I also use Kodak Easyshare and so-called Pinnacle 10 compatible according to what I read. If please inform and let me know what I should do before installing. Thank you very much for your help.
* original title - Windows cannot verify the updates - error msg. Have Vista - thinking about installing Windows 7 to fix this and other miners some
If Vista is having a problem with updates there is a very small chance that the upgrade to Windows 7 will not solve the problem. A shop to factory settings which will certainly solve. However if you plan to keep all data and applications a restore to factory settings or Windsows 7 "Custom / Clean ' install means that you must first backup all your data to external media files, then after cleaning install you will need to reinstall all your applications.

Vista SP 2 x 86 32 bit
Compac Presario SR2180 NX
disk defragmented
the disk check run without error
Registry verified
Norton Internet Security 2011
Norton Utilities 14
1 single antivirus running
A previous audit of update 27/09/11. I downloaded and installed manually updates failed. I followed all the links from Microsoft and others. I can't always check the updates. The update is running for hours and then said: he can't check the updates. My pc can't sleep or turn off automatically. I tried the fixes recommended running but can not install them. The program runs for hours. I can only stop it by using the power button to turn it off. Everything seems to work fine otherwise. I use Norton Internet Security 2011. There are no viruses or other problems, he can find. I ran the disk check, no errors have been detected. I spent hours trying to solve this problem. Every step seems to take me one step closer to an answer, but not enough to solve the problem. Any ideas? The updates have been downloaded and has not installed were all related to the .NET Framework 4.0. NET 4.0 has been installed on my PC in 2009.
Hello
Tried all of these options with no improvement. Stumbled upon an answer that described enter deeply into the Windows registry. (I do not remember where it was.) I had checked before, some of these files, but not these. Some of the updated files were missing. I backed up everything and put the recovery disk in. Success at last! My PC and I are both happy now. I'll bring back had more than 100 updates that should be downloaded and installed. I didn't know if I'd do them all at once, so I started with some of the older ones, but they have not all install. Then checked to install them all. Updates made in the order of most importance and in the right order needed. I had to do some updates more than he has found since then. I am really satisfied with the result. I'm going to put programs and files back on my PC for some time, but I'm not tearing my hair. Maybe this will help someone else. Thanks for the suggestions, all help to improve my knowledge about computers. -
Cannot install Windows updates (Windows cannot check the updates)
I have 10 computers networked with a Windows SBS11 server as a domain controller. The 10 computers, 6 of them are Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and the other 4 are Windows Vista Pro (32 bit). All computers stopped Vista download of updates ago and which gives an error, the message "Windows cannot check for updates. When you try to check for updates manually or automatically that the error is displayed, but it should not be any problem with the updates are downloaded and installed on Windows 7 computers.
I tried the following:
-Ran the system update tool.
-Execution of Malware Bytes and Vipre Antivirus analysis in safe mode. No infections found.
-Disabled the firewall and restarted the search.
-Reset the proxy server using the winhttp netsh from the command prompt.
-Restarted Windows Update Services.
-Ensure that the BITS Service is running.
-GPO update for Windows updates not be configured on computers.
-Change Windows Update settings to allow the manual update. Allowed for the updates to install, but after computer restart returned to the old settings and error appeared.
If there are any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate.

Error code Windows Update 80070490 and the message "Windows cannot check the updates.
Windows Update 80070490 error code appeared yesterday (21 September 2013) and the message "Windows cannot check for updates. I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit, Service Pack 2. I tried almost all the suggestions on the Internet (including on Microsoft Web page) on this way to solve this problem, including Microsoft fixed it, the update of the system, file Windows Update DIAGCAB Diagnostics tool and etc, but still getting the message. The last successful update was on 13.09.2013. All updates done before and September 13 are written as a 'success' in the folder "Update history", but when I open the folder "Installed updates", I don't see anything and it says "no update are installed on this computer", which is strange, because at the moment, Windows Update was made automatically without any problem. Please help me to solve the problem with this error code.
Thank you, you shared your experience with me, but I already solved the problem. Niemiro of Sysnative.com forum helped me for this
