Cannot configure a two-node MSCS cluster.

Server configuration iSCSI by Starwind 5.4 on Win7 and Win two, 2003 virtual machines as nodes in cluster on vSphere 4.0. Using Starwind how to configure the Quorum and another disk shared between 2 virtual machines. The path that is on each virtual machine by the Microsoft iSCSI initiator to get both drives shared directly from iSCSI Server (win 7).  When configure a cluster on a node, download info on photo 1, check the yellow error, got the image 2. At the end of the installation, download the info from the error: the network path is not found (photo 3), check the logs of the Win system, download the info on photo 4. Before and after her, with check the 3 NICs IP network and ping them, all of them are good. After putting new IP Address/subnet mask on the network cards that are for the beats, the problem is still there.

I'm confused what is wrong. Is it a problem that the pulse line connects via a vSwitch without physical NETWORK card as Microsoft says heart rate must be connected directly?

I don't think it would be a network ESX problem since all your NETWORK cards are online and respond to pings.   I am curious about your first screen printing where the cluster cannot be brought online due to the INVESTIGATION period is already on the network.   Is it possible that the IP address is in use elsewhere on the network?

I'll move this thread to the VM forum and the guest operating system to see if anyone can help troubleshoot the configuration of comments.

    Hi all

I am trying to configure Win7 so I can use two monitor (side-by-side) with the opportunity to work on both. For example, to keep the email open on one monitor and use other software on monitor B.

Here is a screenshot that shows the settings I use. Can someone please take a look and advise?

    Thank you!

    Todd

The graphics card may have the drive necessary to operate 2 monitors on a split bar but monitors also communicate with the PC to tell him what the monitor can handle using the SDC.

It cannot accept the two sets of data SDC on the same entry even if theoretically they have the same data to send.

  • Replication Failover clustering & Hyper-v on a two-node cluster

    Hello

We have two identical servers.  One to use as a main server, which houses two virtual machines.  The other should be used as a back up in case the main server is not somehow.  We planned on using a solution of third-party software to back up our virtual machines and launch them in the event of failure of the principal server.  However, we discovered just gave the failover clustering in Windows Server R2 2012.

We have tried to set up a cluster 2 nodes, with our virtual machines properly replicated to the backup server.  Excited by the present, we tried then to simulate failure of the primary server (by pulling on the cable network).  We were a little disappointed to find that the backup server is not automatically run virtual machines.  We did a survey and read than a solution of two nodes requires storage space for additional network (in addition to our two servers).

I wonder if that's okay?  In other words, a two-node failover cluster requires separate network storage space.  If this is not correct, can someone point me to a set of instructions to correctly configure a two-node failover cluster that will automatically launch the virtual machines on the server backup (in the case of a failure of the principal server).

  • two node Oracle RAC with two Oracle databases completely different on each node?

We currently have two different applications that use Oracle databases.  Current configuration is two different oracle homes dbhome_1, dbhome2 with separate mounting LINUX points containing the Oracle homes and *.dbf files on a single host server.

Previously, the idea was to set up a second server identical host configured as a 'data guard' for both of these databases.  Now, management wants to implement a cluster of CARS of two nodes, with each node running two databases.  With the Standard edition.

I only did CARS of high availability and scalability for a single database.  Is it possible to run two completely different databases Oracle on a two-node RAC cluster?  I am inclined to think that they it has divided into

two clusters RAC to two nodes on four small servers host.  Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated?

Is it possible to run two completely different databases Oracle on a two-node RAC cluster?

The short answer is Yes... it is possible.  It will work without any problem, as long as you have the resources available to an additional database.

I am inclined to think that they it has divided into two clusters RAC to two nodes on four small servers host.

There is another option.  In the past I have two databases on a RAC cluster that has been implemented for reasons of cost of license / (I don't think that this applies to itself, but you will need to check).

However having seen on separate hosts that you have only potentially interruptions of service on a database if you decide to do something like upgrading from one of the databases and thus upgrade the GI as well.  This would mean interruptions in service for all your databases using the GI.

  • Cold migration of MSCS cluster node clients?

Work on the establishment of a MSCS cluster on 2 hosts.  The hosts are the ESXi 5.5 build 1892794.

My shared disks are RDM compatibility mode physical that I have attached to a second SCSI controller in physical sharing mode.

My cluster validation wizard is successfully completed.

However, if I turn off the guests, everyone migrate to a different host (with FC to the RDM LUN connectivity), turn on and then run the cluster validation Wizard error e/s disk wizard reports on tests of arbitration and failover.

I learned that when I see these mistakes I can unsubscribe the VMs, detach the storage from the host, restart the host, attached storage, re - save virtual machines, and then validation is successful.  However, it is a bit complicated and if I say lose a blade and need to put one of my guests node elsewhere, I want to do without the time and hassle.  Is this possible?

I know vMotion is not supported with the physical bus sharing, but this ban applies to cold (power off) so migration?  Or is this an indication that I screwed up my configuration?

    Any thoughts would be great.

    Thank you

    Here's what VMware has sent:

    =======================

-A virtual machine that has a ROW in a MSCS cluster connected in physical compatibility mode cannot be vMotioned.

-Even if you do a cold vMotion (stop the virtual computer, then vMotion), the ROW could be detected as vmdk and you may need to remove
She and present it back or re - enter as you mentioned.

-Best practices recommend Vmware are that - before the migration, remove the ROW of the virtual machine, and then migrate the virtual machine. Once the
VM was vMotion, then you can attach the RDM to the virtual machine.

Unfortunately there is no work around on this
    scenario.

    ======================================

So I guess the cold, you can migrate the MSCS cluster nodes but sometimes it does not work quite as well and so its best to remove the ROW before migration cold.

Thanks to all who have posted!

  • Cluster of P2V existing Windows 2003 two nodes exchange 2007

    Hello

I want to know how I can create a cluster of the P2v of my production windows node cluster on a host two unique esx4i. It is only for purposes of laboratory and test. The reason why I've done a P2v is I want to imitate my production environment, and as production data.

I've done a p2v of my node Exchange 2007 cluster two production Windows 2003 64-bit.  How can I reconfigure disks (quorum, data) for the cluster?

I've seen a lot of e of documents telling me to remove the discs and re create, but I want to keep the data.

I would like to know if someone has done with success the P2v cluster.

    Please notify.

I understand you want to keep the data - this guide will give you necessary for nodes in vm configurations and storage relavent - if you want to keep the two nodes in the cluster on separate from ESX boxes, then you will need to maintain a quorum and the shared data on the physical SAN LUNS and allows to connect to storage RDM - if they all exist on the same ESX Server I shute evrything down - P@V primary node with the disk data and shared quorum, then P2V system disk of secondary nodes - in both cases follow the configurations described in the guides and you should be good to go-

  • Reboot ESX with MSCS Cluster nodes

    Hello

I have an ESX Cluster that must be restarded. This host cluster to a MSCS Cluster (without recommendations affinity VMWARE DRS...).

    What is the best practice?

-Keep maintenance mode, as the other VMS running vmotion or,

-Set the DRS affinity as soon as possible and the node of MSCS Cluster stop when necessary (only comments stop or other actions to do before?) or,

    -Any other idea?

    Thank you

Should not able to vmotion for DRS wikll MSCS cluster node does not work - strting with the ESX host that has the standby node place it in Maintenance mode and manually knew node MSCS nodes - restart the host ESXi get node maintenance - once it is up and the lcuster MSCS is stable - the main failover node MSCS and shute to the bottom of the virtual machine - place this host ESX to Maintanance mode allowinf DRS to evacuate VMS running - restart the ESX host brings the VM MSCS back up and replace the workload in this node MSCS.

  • The host cannot be admitted to the current cluster Enhanced vMotion compatibility mode.

    Hello everyone

    Here's the situation...

    I have:

vSphere 5.1 Cluster with two 5.1 ESXi hosts and configuration VSA.

vCenter Server running on a virtual Windows Server 2012 machine.

Task: Transfer virtual vCenter to a physical machine.

I have install the physical machine with Windows server 2012.

Installed vCenter 5.5 (hosts Newer then the ESXi 5.1)

VSA installed Manager (VSA Cluster 5.5)

When go to VSA Manager I am introduced to the following screen...

    vsa_manager_24-10-2013 10-17-19.png

    Recover DOES NOT work!

Full move operation DOES NOT work!

It recognizes the Cluster AUV-> check availability (is online and OK)-> begins to create the Cluster VSA and it fails with the following error...

    Move the cluster host

    VSA HA Cluster

The host cannot be admitted to the current cluster Enhanced vMotion compatibility mode. Under voltage or suspension of the virtual machines on the host can use the CPU features hidden by this mode.

    Could someone please help?

Thanks to you all! This problem has been SOLVED as follows...

    • VCenter Server go to--> "C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\webapps\VSAManager\WEB-INF\classes".
    • Open the file "dev.properties" with Notepad
    • Change the line that says "evc.config.baseline = lowest" to 'highest = evc.config.baseline' and save the file.
    • Perform the SERVICES. MSC and reboot 'VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices'

After that it of back in the VSA Manager and run it again 'Cluster of VSA recover'!

Now, the wizard should be able to add hosts to the inventory, create the HA Cluster and add hosts to the HA cluster and configure Cluster HA.

    Done everything! :-)

  • Poor with RDM only when added to the CAB MSCS cluster performance

Hey guys, thanks for taking a peek at this question... I'm looking for some ideas.

I have 2 virtual machines running Windows 2008R2.  They put MSCS in place and works as a taxi (cluster across boxes).  I use a 7500 VNX, fiber channel and RDM physical drives.  Is on an 8 node ESXI 5.1 v1117900 implemented.  Functionally, everything works fine.

The problem is that the performance is very poor on only the RDM that have been added to the MSCS cluster.  I can take the same drive, remove the cluster, run IOmeter and it's fast.  I add to the cluster, MSCS, leaving in storage, and it is 1/15th the IOPS performance / s.  Remove the drive of MSCS and it goes back to when you run as usual.

I tried different controllers SCSI (LSI Logic SAS vs Paravirtual) and it doesn't seem to make a difference.  I have physical MSCS clusters that do not seem to present this kind of performance problem, so I wonder if it was not something goofy with the MSCS on the configuration of virtual machines.

    I've already implemented in this article: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1016106

I saw this poor bus rescan the performance issue until I put the RDM perpetually booked, but it was not a problem since I implemented the fix.

For any help or suggestion is appreciated...

    Thank you

    -dave

Recently, I upgraded my esxi from 5.0 to 5.1 environment and have a bunch of systems with RDM. I had a problem as well. What I found, was that during the upgrade it changed all the policies of path to the LUN and rdm, it's the turn of robin. This causes a huge performance issue in my environment. I changed all the paths to MRU and it solved the problem.

  • Cost Estimate to two nodes

    Hello

Need to implement Oracle RAC on two nodes. I tried first time so need tips basic with you all in what concerns the basic requirements for the installation of RAC.
Is there any software, other than the necessary configuration for installing Oracle11g?
What are the basic things I need to keep in mind before installing the CARS.

    thanx

    Hello

It is recommended, you can find first requirements oracle dovumentation and many messages from oracle by oracle experts blog.

And my recommendation is before the installation, try checking your configuration with CLUVFY - Cluster verification utility.

The documentations are correct. Even though you may be able to create a cluster with more than two nodes, the supported limit is 2 knots.

Cannot open SCSI device ' devices/vmfs/genscsi / vmhba3:5:0:0 '(scsi3:0): the file is not found. Cannot configure scsi3.

I get this error when you add a new SCSI device to one of my Virtual Machines, the device is a tape drive HP SureStore DAT40. The error occurs when the virtual machine is running, around 60% powerup.

I tried two types of SCSI cards, a "Adaptec 29160N" & a "Adaptec 29160LP" and two different cables, I get the same error with both. The ESX 3i 3.5.0 host to see two SCSI cards when checking under Configuration and then to storage adapters. When you click the SCSI card in the adapters of ESXi storage options, I see the tape drive listed as vmhba3:5:0 for the band and vmhba3:5:1 for the media changer. This makes me believe that, from the point of view compatibility, everything is good to go.

When I change the instance of VM to add the tape drive, I select new SCSI device which passes next to select the SCSI device in the options, I see HP - HP and media - bands like peripheral parts possible. I tried a variety of virtual device nodes and they all produce the same error that has been pasted above. When ok is clicked it adds the new SCSI device and a new SCSI Controller 1 using the LSI Logic Controller, I also tried all the options under this menu, 'None', 'Virtual' 'Physical' and I have even changed the Type of controller BusLogic, same results even if I get the error posted above.

The server in question is a Dell PowerEdge 2850, 2 x 3 GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM, 300 + GB HD.

I searched the net and these forums and did not find any post about the error posted above, I have some hair left on my head and I don't know what to do at this point. What is a compatibility issue? I tried to add the SCSI device on another virtual computer on the same ESXi host and it gives me the same error. I know the tape drive, scsi cards, and two scsi cables, I am using all work correctly.

    Hello

Currently, I install R12.1.1, and the environment has two servers - one for the app and the other for the floors of the db.
When running the Setup Wizard, I get the error RW-00000 error message when configuring the database node.
< RW-00000: cannot write the following directory. Please check the permission >
In my view, that the indicated directory is the directory/tmp or/d01/oracle/SID.
The thing is that both have full rights in all cases.
Can anyone tell how this problem can be solved?

    Another issue is...
The two levels have users created in servers, oracle and applmgr?
Or, how users should be created?
Initially, he complains of users even if users are created as a result.

The way I created the stage space is that the directory is created under the Application layer and rapidwiz running here.
Then I'm trying to set the node database information giving host and domain names.

Run Setup on the node to layer database first and then the application tier node.

Users are created for applmgr at the Application layer and oracle at the database level.
    Is it OK?

    It's OK.
