  • Cannot connect to internet after auto update under Vista.

Original title: System shows the connection, but cannot connect

After an automatic update in Vista in mid-August I can no longer connect to the internet.  My system tray shows that I am connected but I can't.  I'm on a DSL wireless connection with a desktop computer (one does not) and a laptop with XP that always works very well.  I re - configure the modem, uninstalled, and reinstalled the wireless card, has run an anti-virus in safemode, uninstalled the Qwest connection network and re-installed AND uninstalled the update to Vista.  I even tried the system restore to an earlier time.  Nothing.  Internet diagnosis says that it cannot solve the problem.  I have read other forums on the UN-checing proxy settings but mine have not been verified.  I re-set my settings IE8 by default.  Uninstall protection against viruses... What did I miss?

  • Windows 7 cannot connect to internet after software update

Last week my brother called me stating that he had updated Adobe Reader and it said to reboot. After the restart, his computer was delivered indicating he had no internet access. I went to the wire and took a look at his computer and discovered that, although he said he had access to its local network, he could not access the user interface of the router. We checked cell phones through its wi - fi and Netflix connection on its Blu - ray player. These two worked, if the router is always connected to the internet, even if the computer could not connect. We tried to reset the router to the factory settings, but still could not access it from his computer. Finally, we did a system restore to a checkpoint from the morning before this happened. After the restoration, the internet works again and all the updates without any problem.

Last night, I received a call from my cousin who, after an update of its AMD graphics drivers, had the same issue with network connectivity to reboot to apply updates. He had already tried to reset his router, which was a different brand/model, but not able to access the user interface even though his computer showed that he had access to the local network. I proposed the restoration of the system, which worked.

This looks like exactly the same problem despite an update for me different is originally on each computer. None of these updates should affect what anyone with the network settings of the computers, and updates same ran after the restoration had all the problems. Does anyone have a possible explanation for the way in which this issue could occur?

These PCs have McAfee? McAfee has been updated at the same time that the last batch of Windows 7 & updates updated to Adobe, but McAfee which is the cause of problems of internet connection for most, if not all, users of McAfee.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary. There are corresponding communications for their enterprise products.

  • Unable to connect to wifi after factory reset

This morning I had to do a factory reset on my Presario SR5214X. All came out of it works well, except that now I can't connect to wifi. The only options it gives me for internet connection are broadband and dial-up. WiFi was working fine before reset and I have installed the only network driver update available on the Web site, but it still does not seem to recognize any kind of wireless connection. The computer is a good 5 or 6 years, but it was working fine and all seemed well before. How can I update or install to get the computer to work again with wifi?

    Hello:

There might be some brands that have this hardware ID, but it shouldn't matter.

Try the driver for this model.

    http://www.Dlink.com/UK/en/support/product/DWL-G520-802-11g-wireless-LAN-PCI-card?revision=deu_revb

You can automatically install the driver by running the configuration file once you unzip the download, or you can just install the driver manually by clicking on the ethernet controller in Device Manager. Click on the driver tab, click on set to update driver. Select the 'Browse my computer for the software' and look for the folder that you unzipped.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

I don't know if the installer also installs the connection software (that I do not particularly like because I let Windows manage my network connections).

Manually install the naked driver will prevent the installation of additional software.

If for some reason that this driver doesn't work, then try one of this model.

  • Apps de Metro de Windows 8 Pro cannot connect to internet after the first reboot

    Hello

I have recently installed Windows 8 Pro x 64 OEM, and I noticed after awhile that my store, Stocks, Weather, News,... cannot connect to the internet more. However, all other applications work.
Even more strange, after installing all the updates, I noticed that I can navigate with my IE on the desktop, but not a single party of metro?
Long story short, after several relocations (refresh option), I've noticed as a result of behavior:
    1. during the first start after installation, EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY. I can browse, look at the weather, everything store.
    2. when I restart the computer and any time after that, is STOP WORKING.
Another thing I noticed was that his (SoundBlaster Audigy) card didn't work the first time, but after rebooting, it worked, so I guess something happened after the first reboot?
It was a clean install (OEM version) and Windows are activated, and I tried signing in with or without live account (no difference).
Help me please, since this is quite irritating :(

    Hello

    I finally found the problem.
The invisibility of the active network has pushed me towards the answer.
biggest mistake I made was using the option refresh windows, because it was useless for my troubleshooting.
By mistake I chose my first install, public internet connection and the course of the updating of the system did not ask see me that.
In defining the private connection after clean installation (No refresh, brute force reinstall) makes everything work after reboot and completely solved the problem for me.
Why the network does not disappear after reboot? It's something weird, and it shouldn't happen!
The resolution of network problems found no problem, because the internet connection worked, but he had no problem with no network also appear or metro apps does not.
This should be corrected, as it would be a great help in this scenario.
TL; DR: Make sure you set your connection on the private sector, or windows becomes crazy and your metro applications do not work (and I also noticed that visual studio could not deploy projects in this scenario, but that's another story).
  • Cannot connect to internet after Windows Update

I was not able to connect to the internet after windows updates 7 of 14 October 2010, unless I have to restore the system to October 13.

    Hi jlm00926,

    ·        Update that you installed before the problem?

    ·        Are you able to connect to the internet properly now?

You can set up your computer in a clean boot state. Subsequently, download & install the update manually from the Microsoft Download Center.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

Clean boot will start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs and helps eliminate software conflicts.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual according to step 7 of the article: how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

  • WRT400n cannot connect to Internet after outage

We had a power failure, the other day, and now the wireless router unable to connect to the internet. Network Magic shows that there is no connection of the appliance to the internet. I tried to fix it with Network Magic, but wasn't able to fix it.

My PC is directly connected to the wireless device, by LAN cable. If I connect the PC directly to my DSL router, I can connect to the internet, but not if I connect to the wireless router and from there to my DSL router. I tried to reset the router by default wire and then go to http://wrt400n.com and reset the security settings on the router. But Network Magic still shows the bad internet connection.

I tried resetting the default router again and install it from scratch using the installation CD but which has not as well. I'm not at home right now so can't remember exactly how it was but I think it was either when the installation wizard tried to detect the device or install the device.

This is the second time I had to reset my router because of the blackout. Last time I could make it work by doing the first steps above.

    Thanks for any help.

I just did a factory reset on my SX20,

and now I can't access the web interface, I need to add the key to release

I need to add the release key and access to any interface

You can access the settings locally using the remote?

If so, you should be able the enable http as well as the fixed IP address using the remote control.

The factory reset should have change setting IP DHCP, so if it has a network connection, this IP address must be included in the top of the page, to the left of the screen.

  • XP systems cannot connect to internet after updates applied over the weekend (10/29 - 10/31)

    Systems: Dell Optiplex 740

Operating system: XP Pro, SP3.  Connected to the AD network.

    Antivirus: Symantec Endpoint Protection

: Systems imaged with Symantec Solution Suite 2.5, running ghost console client, run office 2007, LotusNotes email client, Adobe Acrobat 9.0 pro, no odd/specialty software.

The following hotfixes have been automatically downloaded and installed this weekend.  (The domain value autoinstall updated policy)

    KB2296011 KB2345886 KB2360937, KB2378111, KB2387149, KB982132, KB979687, KB981957, KB2279986, KB2360131, KB2418241

System ran perfectly before the updates above being installed, applied.

    Symptoms:

1 - log on to the network, sometimes connection takes hours (2-3) to load a new or existing profile.  This seems random, as some profiles allow an immediate connection.
2 - the system does not stop.  Even if gone for 16 hours, it never completes the task.
    3. can access local systems within the network through a UNC path, but very very slow.  Can ping anywhere, ping also solves dns IP (google.com, yahoo.com, etc.).  Can't access a Web page than IE.  Curiously, install google chrome or any other browser allows web access - never through IE, however.
    4. can not view or change the connections of the network adapters.  Hangs and never completed the task.
5 USB devices not already connected to the workstation before above patches do not load/install, even if they were previously on this system.  For example, a USB key that worked Friday does today.
6 - when the screensaver activates, system is not sometimes recover.
7 - safe mode with networking will run without problem.  IE works, connects to the web.  No hardware problem, no connectivity issues.

Here is what I have tried, in all possible and combination orders:

    1. remove each patch listed above.
    2. remove each patch listed above AND any referenced patch.
    3 reinstall the SP3.
    4. remove each piece of software other than the operating system.
5 - disable all services that do not work in safe mode with network.
    6. Remove and reinstall the NIC drivers.

I am at a loss.  I have an image before the explosion, and it works perfectly until these patches are downloaded and installed.  After the restart, bam.  So, I can easily reproduce the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas or clues as to what to try?

    It's just a detailed view...

I suggest some standard maintenance and cleaning which will generally help as you allow to get acquainted with your machine so that you can restrict the possibilities...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

    (Variant: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm )

    How to use disk cleanup

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

  • E2500 cannot connect to internet after re-configuration wifi

After the initial Setup, if I go to advanced configuration and trying to modify the wireless router drops it's internet connection (looks like it does not acquire DHCP) and is incapable of is re - connect until I have reset to the default values and use the CD again.

I confirmed that change the SSID or password it breaks, but I don't know about the other parameters.

The firmware update seemed to kill it, also, but at that point, I gave up and am about to put the thing in the trash. My router linksys 15 years ago, works very well and doesn't have this problem.
