Set Internet Explorer as your web browser default and try to use Internet Explorer to validate your operating system.

After that I hope you will be able to download the feature pack media.

  • I have NO SOUND on my computer and the Windows Media Player error message is C00D11BA.

To try to solve the problem that I discovered in the Audio tab in sounds and Audio devices properties, there is No default unit in the area of audio playback and No default unit in the peripheral zone of MIDI playback.  In addition, the general tab in the properties of the device Audio USB says "this device is working properly" and that it is enabled as described in the use of the device box. The general tab of the device Audio USB also said the "Driver is enabled and working properly."

I am able to record dictation through a program of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

I'm on Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3, and before that I lost sound had not recently added that any hardware or software even though I may have uninstalled some rarely used program.

    Hi marcs251,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

To help you better with this problem I would like to answer a few questions.

    (a) what is the format of the file you are trying to play?

    (b) you are able to play the files on your hard drive?

In the meantime, you can try the methods below to see if the problem is resolved.

     Method 1:

Make sure that the file type of the file that you are trying to play is supported by Windows Media Player.  If this isn't the case, you can do a search using your favorite internet search

provider to find a player who is able to read the file.

The link below explains the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/9series/playererrors.aspx#c00d1199_0x00000000

    Method 2:
You may also check if Windows media player support for the codec used to compress the file and you may need to install the right codecs to play the file.

Please visit the link below to find out how to obtain, install, or update a codec:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/codec.mspx#q14_3

You can also check out the link below which gives information about the codec:

Even if you are a 64-bit machine 8 default IE should be 32-bit version.  This is the version that runs on 64-bit computers by default.  If you use this version, then the problems will disappear.  As previously reported Adobe are still working on a version of Flash for 64 - bit.
