Cannot install ESXi 5.5 on Dell PowerEdge T620

Hello

I have a Dell PowerEdge T620 server and I want to install VMW VSphere Hypervisor 5.5 on that.

I tried 2 ways above, but they are not successful.

Track 1:
-Start with DVD integrated with server
-Config for RAID 5
-Choose the option "VMW ESXI 5.5 HDD"
-Error: "the provided raid configuration is not supported" and force reboot me.

Track 2:
-L' boot using an ESXI 5.5 CD-ROM
-Follow the step on Setup screen.
-Scan disk step HARD to install the process is too long too long scan...

I hope that an idea can help me solve that.

Thank you!

You use the ESXi Dell installation?

    Thank you

In some cases, it may be necessary to clean the partition table on the disk. In any case, depending on your hardware, components, you may need to use custom Dell ESXi image, which includes additional drivers to take support the Dell hardware. You will find the image at http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/poweredge-m630/drivers. Simply change the ESXi 5.5 operating system and expand the 'Business Solutions '.

  • Cannot install ESXi 4.1 but can install ESXi 3.5

    I have a Dell PowerEdge 2600

I tried to install ESXi 4.1, but it simply doesn't. Happens to step to show the points and keep the machine on reboot and it goes into a loop.

I managed to install ESXi 3.5 that I thought that the machine does support 32 bit.

There are some features I need on the 4.1 which are not included in the version 3.5 for example boot from .iso and also the 3.5 I think is no stable (dose of console does not display anything).

As I am already running 3.5 I tried to do an upgrade from 3.5 to 4.1 in vain.

Would be really appreciated any help.

    Thank you

Hi, me too I have a Dell Poweredge 2600, I bought used about 4 years ago. The Intel Xeons that are only 32 bit so that they do not support vSphere.

  • ESXi 3.5 on Dell Poweredge 2950 and Dell 6 GB/s card SAS HBA?

    Hello.

    I'm under ESXi 3.5 u4 on a Dell poweredge 2950 machine.

    I recently bought a Dell Powervault 124 t. autoloader with a HBA SAS 6 GB/s card.

I installed the card SAS in the PE 2950, but now I can't seem to see in ESXi.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you very much.

I'm afraid that the Dell technician is correct.

Someone at - it a link on ESX support not directly connected devices?

This isn't the issue. The question is: do you have a link that shows devices supported?

Reference Dell does support the autoloader Powervault 124 t. on ESXi 3.5?

Have you checked the VMware HCL already, if the SAS controller is included/supported for ESXi version, you are running?

There are a few articles which have tape readers running with Adaptec SCSI controllers, I don't see anything for ESXi 3.5 with a SAS controller still...

Maybe there's a better chance to make this work with ESX 4.x with VMDirectPath

  • How to install ESXi 5.1 Server DELL with ESXi 5.5 installed on IDSDM?

    Hello

We get a new DELL server that gets 5.5 ESXi installed on IDSDM.

Given that we are still using ESXi 5.1, we want to set up this server to make it work also ESXi 5.1 update 3.

There are 2 physical disks in SAS, which has been configured as RAID1.

We would like to know when we install ESXi 5.1, ought to move the disk RAID1 or IDSDM cards?

If IDSDM cards are preferred, is used for the local HD in RAID?

If we should install on local RAID HD, can we use IDSDM as SSD for ESXi host cards?

    Thank you

In addition, if we install in the HD, can we use the SD card to ESXi host? : - You can install in HD and SD card is used to keep the backup in case of failure of HD of ESXi image. To do this, you must put the image cache in the SD card.

If you install in the SD card, then you must configure the scratches in HD because of the constraint of space with CD card.

  • Install ESXi 5.1 on Dell 1950

I'll have one of our technicians make a trip to one of our remote data centers to install ESXi 5.1 on an old 1950. Looking at the HCL list it appears the storage and network adapters (listed below) are supported, but in the past, I ran into the installer ISO stock lack the appropriate drivers for the storage and need to build a custom. Without being able to test this before making the trip, is anyway to know if the ISO stock recognizes the following?

    Advice would be appreciated.

    Yes, will also work.

There is in fact only an installation CD of ESXi (by version/patch level) provided by VMware, which is then customized by hardware (via ImageBuilder) vendors

  • ESXi 4.1 and Dell PowerEdge 860

I can't find Dell PoweEdge 860 to VMware hardware compatibility list.  And it is not in "Die ESXi 4.x compatibility" Dell either.  But I found a few post on someone managed to install ESXi 4.0 on a USB key.

My 860 PE has a SAS 5/iR adapt (RAID controller).  Someone managed to installed ESXi 4.1 (U1 or U2) on this model?  Should I use generic ISO image to ISO from VMware or custom Dell?

    Thanks in advance

Right, in my view, this is going to be a monologue

    So I finally tried Dell's custom ISO for ESXi 4.1 U2 (VMware-VMvisor-InstallerCD-4.1_Update2-502767.x86_64-DellCustomized_A02.iso)

ESXi software has been installed without problem.  My RAID controller is correctly recognized as SAS 5/iR adapter.  And things are obviously well run.

However, there is something quite disturbing: the disk data store has the property

    Hardware acceleration: unknown

More, even if my drives are SAS 15krpm, disk i/o is really slow (especially writing). When the server was using Windows Server 2003 R2, the writing on the disc was faster.  I don't know if there is anything I could do...

I just hope that this server could last for the next two years, after which I might be able to have a new

  • Cannot install ESXi 4.1 on HP ML350 G6

I'm not able to install ESXi 4.1 on my HP ML350 G6 server.  I have 2 Intel Xeon 5650processor w/6 hearts each, 16 GB memory, RAID 1 + 0 on HP Smart Array P410i controller channel with 6 X 300 GB SAS 10 K disks.  The DVD-ROM is SATA.  The boots just fine CD and get all the way to choose the disk to install it on, but it shows as a remote disc and when I proceed with the installation I get this message:

The installation operation has encounterd a fatal error:

Cannot find the image of the installed system. This is due to the image, not been correctly mounted the CD-ROM not supported.

Curve ball.  I am able to install ESX 4.1 and was able to connect vSphere Client to configure the host.  Why no ESXi?

I appreciate all the help, I tried as much as I know how.

have you tried to mount the ISO through the ILO instead of using a physical disk? also check the MD5 of the download to make sure it is ok

  • Lack of disks when installing ESXi 4.0 on Dell R710

I have a Dell R710. I created a Raid 5 with some virtual disks and initialized to them. When I try to install ESXi 4.0, in the select a disk screen, it displays: Disk0, provider: iDRAC; Type: usb; Size: 0.0 B; Empty: y

    No idea what I'm missing?

It seems that this controller is supported from ESX 4U1 (build 208xxx) - who are you installed?

  • ESXi 4.0 and DELL PowerEdge T100

    Hi all

I have a question to any user of the T100 Server (or anyone abe to solve my problem). I want to buy a DELL (round) Server compatible with ESXi 4.0. But I have a problem with the compatibility logging, I found a document from DELL:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/eDOCS/software/eslvmwre/vs/AdditionalDocs/compatbltymatrx/compmat.PDF

Who informs on the compatibility of the T100 with ESXi 4.0 server. On the other hand on the compatibility list VMware it is said T100 is compatible with ESXi 4.0 but with Intel Xeon 33xx series. I have not found an exact match as Intel Xeon 3300. But in the configuration of the server, I found a processor like the Quad Core Intel® Xeon® X 3330; 2.66 GHz, 2x3M Cache, 1333 MHz FSB, 95W TDP.

And my question is this compatible with ESXi 4.0 Server and CPU? Anyone tried this configuration or knows answer this question with certainty? It would be very helpful because if I buy T100 which won't be compatible with ESXi 4.0 it will be useless. Please do not suggest other DELL PowerEdge servers - I have no money for them.

    Thanks in advance.

The selected processor would be correct. I don't know if controller SAS 6iR has of a cache battery module, but it is worth for the performance of the disk.

  • Cannot install ESXi 5.1 U1 or U2, error CPU_CORES

    Hello!

I can't install ESXi 5.1 U1 or U2 on a Supermicro X10SLM + f motherboard with a quad-core Xeon-E3-1220 v3 CPU. It displays "ERROR CPU_CORES" claiming that I have only a single core and stops the installation. I was able to inject the drivers NIC to go beyond the failure of the 'no network adapter', but now I get this error of CPU.

Someone at - it tried with this combination and has managed to install ESXi?

  • Cannot install ESXI 5.5 HP 3500 PRO series

    Dear all,

Try to install ESXI on HP PRO 3500 MT series 5.5. Its gives me the following error.

"NO network adapters have been detected.

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you
    Sriram Das A

Im not saying there is a problem with your network adapter, its just ESXi does not have a suitable driver for it. IM assuming that you use Realtek RTL8171E gigabit ethernet (received this HP site). There was a blog post from Vladan Seget on how install driver 8169 vib. http://www.Vladan.fr/Realtek-8169-NICs-not-detected-under-ESXi-5-5/

But once it comes to 8169. I'm not sure if there is a driver available for 8171 (8171and same 8169 is not in the list of VMware support)

    Hello!

I am installing Hypersphere ESXi Vsphere v5.5.0 (or v6.0) on a Dell computer.

I burned the image to a CD:

    VMWare - VMvisor.Installer - 5.5.0 - update02 - 2068190.x86_64.iso

I can boot the computer off this CD image, and the first steps of the installation process are ok. At some point, I can accept the license (press F11), and then to select the player that I want to install to.

In my case, there is only one choice: internal HARD drive. This point is highlighted in yellow, I just press ENTER.

A few seconds later, I get the following error message:

    Copy with debugfs to /tmp/ESX_upgrade/boot/Initramfs_genkernel-x86-3.14.16-gentoo.gz

Is there some thing/all operating system installed on the local disk? In this case the local disk wipe could help.

Alos there could be a problem with the driver for the NETWORK interface that is integrated, which is generally not supported (no driver) with desktop computers. You will need to customize the installation image in this case to add the driver.
