Cannot install Java on Windows 7

I am installing Java on windows 7 (Asus laptop brand new). I get a msg saying that this installation package could not be opened. "Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.  I did all the steps (disable antivirus/firewalls, etc.) fixed by both you and java, without result. I am getting very frustrated. I see I'm not the only problem w / this.  Please notify.

Try right click on the actual Setup.exe and choosing the option "Run As Administrator"?  Perform, even if your user name is an administrator.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/929135

Have you tried to clean your Temp folder, you can do this by typing folder in the Start Menu RUN box.  This will open your Temp folder, there, you can remove all Windows will allow you to do.

It may be necessary to show both hidden and system files and also uncheck 'Hide known file types' in Control Panel / folder Options / view to navigate to the mentioned location of Temp.

This example may or may not work for you with your program, use the built-in Administrator account to perform the installation?

"It seems that the"Run as Administrator"command gives you administrative privileges only, and they are not enough to install Java (and OpenOffice, by association). To work around this problem, you must actually connect to the built-in administrator. Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, type cmd in the search/run box, hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and folder administrator integrated, where you might be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disable the built-in using administrator account:

«net user administrator / active: No.»

    Hello

Don't forget to start as admin.

    Visit the Help Center Java
    http://www.Java.com/en/download/help/index.XML

Also, you can manually download and install Java
    http://www.Java.com/en/download/help/index_installing.XML?user_os=Vista

    Do with these two

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore, and then click Reset - apply / OK

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - click on reset all default areas - apply / OK

    Close IE

Then use Revo to uninstall Java, so you can reinstall - free Version

    Reset.

Now go back to Java and reinstall
    http://www.Java.com/en/

    ----------------------------------------------------------

If so - get something contradictory and reset IE

IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if it is there, it is no longer necessary but Java always install
"(and it causes problems - you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again)." Search for other possible problems.

Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look right. Permit
are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If in doubt about a program to ask about it here.

Could be a free - BHOremover - BHO - standalone program, needs no installation, download and run

Update of Java (besure to go back and disable SSV2 Addon)

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you use? That were ALREADY on your computer
