Cannot install Sims on Vista

Hello. My new laptop has Vista on it, and I can't install the Sims + Expansions on it. My old laptop had Vista but I was able to install everything after a few tries. When I try to install now, the Sims, Livin ' Large and house party all work fine without problems. When I try to install Hot Date, a message appears that says I need at least 64 RAM or the game may run slowly. This message for all the expansions after Hot Date as well. I was told there is MORE than enough RAM on my laptop to support all extensions, so I don't know why the message keeps popping up. Another problem that may be related is if I don't know this "not enough RAM' message, I am able to install all extensions, and I can play once. If I exit the game or it crashes on me, and I try to start the game, I get a message saying that I have installed supposedly another expansion after Makin ' Magic. I know that I install everything in the right order, and I do not install anything after Makin ' Magic, so I don't know why he said that. Can anyone give me any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi bearcub127

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!

'The Expansion of Sims' requires at least 64 MB of RAM and virtual memory enabled. But if you use the other expansion packs, you should have at least 128 MB of RAM, so please provide us with the RAM and the information of the video card installed on your computer.

You will get information about the RAM in information system. Right click on computer, select Properties.

Even check the version of DirectX installed on your computer and video card. Here is the link that will help you check the version of Direct X. below DirectX: frequently asked question

    Cannot install software on vista.

1st thing to do is to contact the manufacturer of the program.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

And check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on its Setup.exeo run as admin.

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 1 9 b I bought 9 months ago. It has Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1. I have serious problems with the updates:

1 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86 - I can't install this for the last two months. Whenever it appears that the installation has failed.

2 security Update for Windows Vista (KB961501) can be installed as well

    3. my Internet Explorer 8 does not work for the past two weeks. I tried to download it and when I did, then, my computer does not restart. I had to use sans-echec Mode, uninstall IE8 to return to Normal Mode

    4. I also tried to download and install SP2 for Vista, but it failed.

I am very worried. Please suggest me what I should do.

    Thanks for your help.

I think that the decision of the antivirus program is a personal opinion

I put t like McAfee and Norton because they need a lot of system resources and do a slower computer.
I prefer AntiVir and Kaspersky Security suite. The two programs have good scan engine and don t need a lot of system resources. They are easy to use to use it.
AntiVir is free but it s just an antivirus. Kaspersky Security suite also contains a firewall, antispam filter and more.

It s your choice what program you are using. ;)

  • Satellite M35X-S111: cannot install W2k and Vista

Greetings! Today I tried to install windows 2000 on my computer laptop m35x-s111 but my attempts were not successful. After you have copied the original drivers, there was 'Blue screen' talk that it is necessary to disable the Bios shadow and the shadow of the video. These options are not present in the BIOS, it is generally whatever is not present adjustments.

Today tried to install Windows Vista RC1, but lead to this screen and the message that this is full not ACPI (is not compatible). I understand it, it is necessary to disable all these options and then the system will be installed but how do?

    Hello

Generally, Windows 2000 installation should not be a problem and it is not necessary to disable anything in the BIOS. The fact is that Satellite M35 is designed for Windows XP and I really don t know if the device is supported for W2000 but on WE download page (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp) you will find several drivers.

If possible please send us the error on blue screen code.

  • Satellite Pro U400 - cannot install VAP on Vista 64-bit

    Hello
Since I bought 4GB of RAM for my Satellite Pro U400 PSU45E, I installed vista Business 64-bit, with all drivers and bios 64 bit found on the toshiba site.
easy, with the exception of the "value added package 1.1.19", whenever I try to install I get: error "failure of GetProfString."

I installed every driver and utility for 64-bit, but still the same...
    Everyone has experienced with this?

Without VAP, I can't use the Toshiba power saver, worst profiles I can't go back because I did a new install and deleted the recovery partition!
    Please, someone help!

    Hello

VAP contains all the modules necessary and you n t need to install other tools in order to install VAP
I think that it s a Vista may issue you should do a clean install, then you must update the Vista for the last State.
After have installed all the patches Vista, try to install VAP and other tools.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100-049: cannot install printer/scanner Vista

I am running Vista and I can't install lexmark x 85. Lexmark say they will not patch their software because the printer is old. has a found a way to work?

    Hello

Please don't be angry with me, but why you post this here in the Toshiba support forum?
This has nothing to do with the Toshiba laptop.

It s a clear case to me. You are not able to install this printer on Vista OS because the printer drivers are too old or not compatible with Vista.

In the first step, you must contact the support of the manufacture of the printer and ask for the new version of the drivers for printer or compatible driver for Vista. Maybe you will find the drivers supported on the printer manufacture website

    Good luck

  • Satellite A300D - 17G (PSAKCE) - cannot install VAP under Vista x 64

    Hello

I can't install the package value-added on my laptop. Installation process terminated with error ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE
I have my BIOS updated to 3.10 - win64, found on the official site and installed the o2micro flash media driver. The flash media driver is for 32-bit vista only, but it is installed without any error.
So, VAP cant't be installed in any case

    What can I do else?

UPD: flash media driver - first of all, Ii have installed o2micro native 64-bit driver
now, I tried a 32-bit driver available on the toshiba site

    Hello

I checked the Web from Toshiba site and it seems that, for your laptop model (PSAKCE), no driver Vista x 64 is available and you have the drivers for the other models A300D but normally it shouldn't be a problem. There is no significant material differences.

In any case, before installing the VAP mark sure you t have any yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager and SP1 for Vista should be installed!

Also, why did you install the 32-bit driver for the card reader? Have you had problems with the 64-bit driver?

  • Satellite P200-140: cannot install software on Vista with the administrator account

    Hello

just bought a new P200-140 Sat with windows vista at home, but I cannot load the software on the computer.

I'm in administrator mode and when I am trying to load the software I get an error message saying "can only load software as an administrator of disconnection and reconnection as Administrator", but the problem is that I am the administrator.
    can anyone help

    Hello

Are you sure that the admin account has been activated and you are connected with the admin rights 1005?

I asked because the administrator in Vista OS account is disabled by default.
Why? Well, it's an idea to Microsoft ;) and I think that the user must often work with limited rights.
But if you want to enable this account you can do the following:

    -Right-click on the computer
    -manage
    -users and groups
    -double click on administrator
-Remove the brand to deactivate account

After this procedure you can connect to the Vista operating system as an administrator.

I hope that these tips will help you.

    Good luck

    -Download the stand-alone package
-During the run Fixit of the window to reset the update components (aggressive)
-Deactivation of 3rd party stuff (SpyBot, antivirus, etc.)
    -Uninstall my antivirus
    -File "Rename.bat".
-Throw in 20 reboots and on payments to the top
