Cannot install the updates, the error codes 641, 8004ff01, 80070641

Windows vista basic, cannot install updates to the codes .errow 641, 8004ff01, 80070641,.

1. If you have backups of ALL the changes that System Mechanic and RegCure Pro have ALREADY made to your computer, restore EACH of them, restart & test.

If no joy...

2 system Mechanic is probably your troublemaker & you have lots of company! [1]

  • I can't install Windows Update. Error code 641

Hello!  I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I tried several times to install updates and nothing has worked.  The said tool fix fixed it and maybe he did because a few updates have been installed, but many were not.   I'm not very technical, but I'll try to explain in as much detail as possible.

I am running Vista Home Basic. It has Service Pack 2. The Type system is PC based X 86.

Get error codes on some 641 and 80070020 on others. As I said I'm not technical and maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I think that the computer is missing some critical files. For example, sometimes he said: the installer of Windows are not available. I don't know if I need that updates however. Finally, I tried the fix and he said: it has been fixed. I managed to install as 1 update, but most of them failed or if windows update said it was successful, when I restart updates have been configured wrong, so he returned changes. I disabled avast anti-virus & system guard (mechanic system) because I thought he could block and which seemed a little help I got an update installed.

I continue to look for solutions and try new things. I tried to download the Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable. I think that windows6. 0-KB942288-v2-x 86.msu is the one that I want, but it continues to tell me that it does not apply to the computer. Choose one bad? It's Vista and x 86 (said information system). I've tried every solution I could find in the forums, but nothing works. I think something must be reinstalled, but I don't know what. If someone can tell me what to do?

  • Cannot install Windows Update - 8024AFF error Code

    original title: 8024AFF error Code

Hi, I can not install updates on Windows Vista.  I get the message Error Code 8024AFF.  Can anyone help?  Thank you!

Check this error code: it should be 8 digits, not 7.

Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) or SP2 installed?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

    original title: error code 8024001

I am running Windows Vista. I was not able to complete the updates of windows for quite awhile.  My computer says unable to down, 53 updates download.  Never update is complete.  The screen will never fade. The windows update screen says that there is and error Code 8024001.  Microsoft Windows Fix it seems to do anything.

    Help................

    Hello

If you receive the Windows Update 8024401 b error when searching for or installing updates, a problem prevented your proxy server to your network credentials. A proxy server is a server used by your computer to connect to the Internet or a network and, in this case, to download updates. Follow these steps to provide your credentials and install available updates.

    a. open Windows Update by clicking on the button start. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.

    (b) in the left pane, click Find updates.

    c. If you are prompted, provide your network credentials. If Windows does not prompt you to provide credentials and you see the 8024401 b instead of this error code, click on try again.

    d. When you are prompted, provide the credentials that you use to access your network (for example, your user name and a password). Windows continue to update automatically and notify you if you need to install updates.

  • Cannot install Windows updates. Error code 0 x 80070057.

After repairing my grandsons laptop, I thought do him a favor and make sure that it has been updated. His laptop is running Windows 8 / 64-bit. After verification of updates and find that there are 55 necessary updates, I proceeded to the d/l and install them. When the computer is restarted, I got the message about the update fails and go back. I then tried to install updates grouped older first of all with the same result. After the search for solutions, I ran to the troubleshooting Windows Updater which showed

    OT: update windows 8

    Problems found

Recent updates installation problems not fixed

Check missing or corrupt files detected

Some security settings are missing or have changed fixed

    Windows Update 0 X error code 80070057 (2014-04-26-T-11_59_49P) fixed

doesn't really tell me much or what to do. Other research has forced me to do a "clean boot" and tried again to install the updates with the same results

So I spent the afternoon installing all the updates (all 55 of them) one at a time to see those who failed and caused a back. Isolated to these

I then ran the troubleshooting of update again with the same results. Check the updates again. Funny after having spent the whole afternoon doing so he showed that I have ever had checked updates, never installed updates. Two updates that did not are now installed and another two appear as needing installed (KB2903938 & KB2862335) that fails when you try to install.

My questions - are these necessary updates? Critical? If so how can I get to install them?

What a pain. I don't even want to install optional updates or upgrade to 8.1 for fear of having to repeat this experience.

My problem is on an old computer (not this one) running Windows Vista Home Premium.  Show downloads are KB2690729, 2656353, 2656370, 2604111, 2604121, 2656368, 2656045 and 2686827.  When I tried to download individually, the first and the third update (above) showed as being downloaded correctly, yet when I checked the list of updates successfully, none of these appeared.  Since that time, the system generated downloads 8 updates have been fruitless.

Like the other reviewers, I run IOL System Mechanic and have noted your comments about the interaction between the SM and windows.  Personally, I hesitate to attempt changes to the registry based on the stories of war, with that I've heard of people who do not have the knowledge/experience/skill to work in the more than causing registty problems they started.  I have not contacted LIO, wondering if this was done either by Microsoft with others who have similar problems.

I hope that you have more tips to share what to do: this problem.

    Thanks for your help.

I combined the message you did in another thread to this original to avoid confusion.

In response to another poster asking if System Mechanic caused their code error 641, one of our MVP, PA bear MS MVPreplied with this:

There is no doubt in my mind that System Mechanic caused this!

And you have plenty of company, too. See these recent discussions-online

OPTION A: If you have backups of ALL System Mechanic has EVER done on your computer changes, restore ALL the & restart and test - and then uninstall System Mechanic & some other registry cleaners. [1]

OPTION B: Execution of RESOLUTIONS methods 1, 2 and 3 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2642495 then reboot & test.

OPTION C: Contact System Mechanic (iolo.com) support, assuming you have purchased System Mechanic Professional.

I'm running Vista window 6 service pack 2 32-bit.  None of the 8 steps for further research for this error worked.   I tried the regfix_vista.reg and the msiserver.reg proposed corrections and will continue to receive the error code 641.  I spent weeks and weeks on this and nothing works.  I want to give up.  Everyone knows the same problem?  I uninstalled the e/s from my list of software system mechanic who had been previously suggested as being the culprit for this problem...

  • Get the error code 641, cannot install Windows updates.

Reluctant to do a reinstall of windows.  I had the same problem, find the same useless information on a cure.  I did a reinstall of windows (Vista) and partially by installing the updates of windows I ran into the same problem again, the windows installer does not.  Even from scratch will get not anywhere, leaving you at least your system as it stands leaves can be used instead of a partially updated with no program system.

I wonder if Apple has this kind of problem?

    Hello

I suggest to reset the Windows Update components and check if it helps.

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Windows updates failed to download with the error code 641

Hi, I have windows home basic and started having a problem getting my updates [error code 641] there were 7 now there are 9 that I can't seem to download. I've been in contact with microsoft and have clusters of solutions but nothing worked. I see that many people have the same problem and they tried the same thing, I tried to no advail. I searched through all my updates and found on 19-09-09, he tried to download service pack 2 and it was cancelled so I tried to reinstall and it tells me that it is already installed. I tried to fix it several times and it says that the problem has been fixed, when I check on the windows installer it says that is not installed correctly but when I try to reinstall it says I have corrupted files and cannot be installed. in April of this year, I had system machanic and I read that it might cause part of the problem so I talked to them and they tried to solve the problem and they could not say that there something to do with service pack 2 is not installed, I'm really not so concerned as to who the fault is that I'm getting repair. as I said I tried everything microsoft has sent and nothing worked I don't know where to go or what to do next - please help! Thank you judy
