Cannot install VM workstation 7 on Server 2008 R2

Hello

I tried after downloading the evaluation version (7.0.0.0 - 203739) to install it on a server running Windows server 2008 R2 standard edition x 64 (new installation).

It stops just at the beginning with the message "error, this product cannot be installed on windows XP or later, Windows 95,98, Me, NT, 2000 are not supported"

But it says on the datasheet of the VM workstation 7, it can run on Windows server 2008 R2 x 64 as host operating system.

(server is core I7 860 for development and I am connected with admin right through tsc)

Anay idea what I am doing wrong?

Thank you

Frank

shame on me - I mixed the build numbers.

You can post the installation log files?

  • Problem installing VMWare Workstation on a Server Windows 2012

    Hello

I have problems when trying to install VMWare Workstation on a Server Windows 2012. Windows Server is Amazon EC2 environment and a generic image extended release.

The problem is that the installtion process fails because of "Hyper-V" during installation, but after investigating the option "Remove roles and features" I can see that it is not installed.

Is there any fixes for this issue?

I enclose three screenshots for you pleasure.

    Regards, Ray...

    Hello Ray,

Welcome to the VMware community forums.

You run an EC2 instance that has just 615 MB memory installed?

It's kind of a weird for a host, much too low for Amazon memory configuration, even be profitable.

I think that your server is running UNDER Hyper-V, for example. It is probably a Virtual Machine.

You can easily check that yourself by running the script from this site:

How Hyper-V to: detect if you are inside a virtual machine

If it's a Hyper-V virtual computer then I don't think you can install VMware Workstation on the virtual machine and run the nested clients.

You could do the opposite (invited running hyper-V in a workstation virtualized on vSphere) but is not very fast.

As you have no control over which platform virtualization Amazon use for their windows servers, I'm afraid you will have to go for a dedicated server instead of a virtual machine.

    Hope this helps,

Cannot start ip-virtualization in Win server 2008 R2 (server role terminal server) on ESXi 4.1 U1. User terminal session or program receives no DHCP or static IP http://technet.microsoft.com/ru-ru/library/ee382306 (WS.10) .aspx.

I tried to update my bios to the new version, but I can't.

I just downloaded bios update of the toshiba site for portage r600 for my model number (bios update 1.80 - winner), I unzip the zip, run the exe, but error popup came:

    Hello

Your OS windows seems not to be the Windows which was preinstalled on your Portege
You cannot update the BIOS by using the windows server 2008 Enterprise Edition x 64

You will need to put the system which has been pre-installed by Toshiba

  • Cannot install VMWare Workstation on Windows 7 64 bit

I recently had to completely reinstall the operating system on a Dell Dimension 9200 with 4 GB of ram. There were originally 32-bit Vista installed by Dell. VMWare Workstation has worked well. I upgraded (in place) for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and VMWare continued to work. Recently I had to blow the OS and reinstall. I reinstalled with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and now I can not install VMWare Workstation Version 7.1.1. I also tried an older version with the same problem.

I get the UAC prompt and then after some disk activity I get the Microsoft saying "VMWare Workstation has stopped working" giving options (found nothing) solution, close or debug dialog. I tried without UAC turned and no firewall with the same question.

Any ideas on how I can find this?

    Pete

Because I had to reinstall the OS, I went to 64-bit, because I have a few apps I need to write 64-bit to 64-bit (Server 2008 R2) that applications servers

You can run 32-bit Wokstation.  Still, you can virtualize a VM 64 bit on 32-bit workstation.  So do your apps in the virtual machine.

  • Windows Update will not install the hotfix on Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 KB3122648

    Hello

I tried several times to install "MS16-019: Description of the update of security for .NET Framework 3.5.1 in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1" on a Windows Server 2008 R2, running Service Pack 1

Windows Update has always ends with 'Failure' / has encountered an unknown error. Code 80073712

The convenience store has not solved it either.

The server is not really exposed to 'outside' as such, runs in a local network, regular, small; but sometimes, a web browser may be in use.

Is there anything that can / should be done here to remedy the failure of the installation? Or free time and even not to worry about this?

It would be great to have a few strong indications here. Thank you!

System File Checker shows errors that are likely to cause problems with Windows Update. I would like to reinstall Windows Server 2008. That said, I have no direct experience of Windows Server 2008, so I'm not really able to help you.

  • 500 error after installing the CF on Windows Server 2008 IIS7 9.0.2

After installing the CF 9.0.2 on Windows Server 2008 with IIS7, I get an error 500 return of all my websites.  I made sure to change the permissions in the C:\ColdFusion9 folder to full control for psaadm, psacln.  I'm sure that CGI, ISAPI extensions and ISAPI filters are installed.  I rebooted.  I can access the administration of CF on the server, but all of my websites are generating 500 errors on remote browsers.  The uninstall does not solve the problem.  Help, please.  What can I do?

Problem solved!  It was related to incompatibilities of 32-bit/64-bit with Plesk.  There are two steps to solve this problem:

1 snap the Internet Information services manager, access the properties of the advanced application pool and enable 32-Bit Applications 'false' for plesk (default) (2.0) (pool) value.

    2. in Plesk, disable the Web statistics (accessible via password protected directory ' / plesk-stat/webstat /')

Note that you will not be able to use the functionality of Plesk protected directory until Plesk solves this problem.

Complete in writing to the top of the solution by AndorA in Plesk forums can be found at: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=262903

    Hi guys,.

I install 11.1.2.1 on a windows 2008 Server SP1 by using SQL Server 2008 R2 as the back-end. I successfully all installed and set up the foundation components, deployed the webservices and tested I could connect both workspace and shared services.
