Cannot install windows on Satellite Pro A40

Hi I read through all the posts and I can't seem to find an answer.

My problem is that...

I tried to install windows from a full version and when I want to install windows on a partition it fails. If I try to delete the partition, it fails. If I use the recovery discs - Option 1 not entered completely load - looks like Gdisk? error and then a ghost. Option 2 loads but when I go again to install fails.

I can't find an option in the bios to prevent disk access - as a protection against boot viruses. the key under the keyboard, I tried in both positions.

I removed the battery to see if it is a power problem.

I tried using the options of recovery in win xp - but cannot access the drive

The really strange thing is over the option of recovery disks 2 - the size of the disk is larger than the actual size of about 1/3?

The system initially went down while it is connected to the internet - the only option I can thing of is a power surge came down the line and has damaged the motherboard or hard drive. As it happened to a desktop system - blew 3 modems and a UPS before we have located the problem.

Help!

Hello

tried to check and format the drive with an external tool? I'll give you a suggestion: try the "ultimate boot cd" which has many tools also some tools for the maintenance of hard drives.

You can get the picture here: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Just burn it to a CD, boot and choose the tool for your hard drive to check it out and repartition it.

It could be that useful...

Welcome them

  • Cannot install WinXP on Satellite Pro A200 - No. HDD

    Hello

Please can someone help me. I just brought 52 portable Satellite Pro A200. They come with pre-installed Vista, but I want to wipe and install Windows XP. However, I have a big problem - when I put my XP CD in and start it, then click on enter to continue, he tells me that the Installation cannot continue until Windows cannot find any hard drives (although I can boot under Vista so I know that the HARD drive are ok).

    Thanks for looking,

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

    Hello

What to say; I checked the driver Toshiba Europe page and found all the drivers XP necessary and important for the Satellite Pro A200.

Please note that the European driver Toshiba page provides drivers XP 3 different satellite Pro A200 series! There are PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7 series.
    Please choose the right!

In addition, you will find a txt file of installation instruction on the page of Tosh.
In this file, you will find a good and important driver installation order! Please follow these steps!

I put t know exactly why you get the modem com port problems but I guess a new installation of XP and the driver should fix this strange problem.

    Thank you for the update.

You try to install updates at a time and see if it works. For example: install 10 updates every time and see if it works.

If this does not help then, try to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Follow the link below to do the same.

  • Cannot install windows XP on the Satellite Pro A200-1N2

    Jin

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1N2 PSAE3E and I don't want Vista on my laptop. I downgraded the bios to V5.30 but still cannot install windows xp and there is still no optin for SATA in the bios.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Did you install the SATA drivers first?
You need this driver to recognize the HARD drive!

You must download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You should find it on the page of the Toshiba driver or the Intel Web site.

You must perform the installation of an external USB FDD drive using the F6 key during the installation of Win XP.

  • Cannot start Windows Vista on Satellite Pro A40

I haven't used my Satellite Pro A40 for awhile and I'm now greeted with a black BACK screen with an error message saying that Windows XP could not start properly.
I have had this once before but when I waited so that Windows starts normally it was fine.

This time he just continues to move toward opening screen windows then the Toshiba screen then back to the black screen again.

I read somewhere here that now the key 0 when starting may solve the problem, but there is no mention of this in the manual of the A40, and when I tried it on the off-chance that is nothing past.

    Any ideas?
    Help, please!

    Thank you

Don t think that this procedure works on your Pro A40. It is a European series and as much as I know this option (by pressing the 0) is not available on European laptops.
What you could do is try to start in safe mode by pressing the F8 key immediately after power on.

She she s not possible to start the operating system using the safe mode then a reinstallation of the new system would be desirable

  • Satellite Pro A40-111 - Windows XP Pro Russia - how to change to Windows XP en

    Hi all

I just bought the Satellite Pro A40-111, 2 days ago in Ukraine. Everything is OK except the OS, it is the version of WinXP Russia. I'm not one Russian or Ukrainian.

Could Toshiba or someone could help me to config this OS to have the Interface in English WinXP?
    Please help me!
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

for your Windows to speak another language, you need to go to stores and buy a Windows with this language. In your case, there is (at least not known to me) no way to change Windows English Russian Windows without having to reinstall the system from scratch - and not with an English Windows.

When you do so, remember to add the drivers CD Utilties - and tools and in the exact order as described in the help on the CD HTML files.
It is imperative to install drivers in the correct order to have the machine works correctly.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A40: Cannot read music - looking for an audio controller

    Hello

I have a satellite pro A40, my DVD rom drive no longer works and I get a message on the search for material for a multimedia audio controller!

Cannot play music or anything more.

Can I download these drivers safely?
Don't want cluttering up computer with random internet downloads.

If anyone can help me I would be eternally grateful

    Hi satproa40,

You can download all the drivers for your satellite safely of: [http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]

the "multimedia audio controller" means that the audio driver,
If already installed it can help remove this item in Device Manager and let it reinstall System.

same procedure with the dvd - rom, if this wont work try swapping the drive...

  • Cannot find drivers for Vista for Satellite Pro A40

I have the Toshiba Satellite Pro A40.
I find no drivers for the Vista operating system installed recently, or find a way to report directly to Toshiba.
    Seeking advice.

    Hello

You can find some Windows 2 k and drivers for the Satellite Pro A40 XP in Toshiba Archive area.

As you can see this series of mobile could be found in the area of the Archive because it s an old model of laptop. Because this series is a little older Vista drivers are not available and if you want to use the Vista on satellite Pro A40 then you have to collect the Vista drivers at your own hand.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A40: CD-RW/DVD drive cannot read DVD

    Hello

The reader combo CD-RW/DVD on my Satellite Pro A40 (14 months) stopped reading DVDs (DVD - R or the video, have not tried other types), although it can play DVDs some time. I've cleaned the disc by using a cleaning disc. I think the problem started when I upgraded the OS to WinXP SP1 to SP2, but not sure. I tried CD - R and CD - RW writing and no errors were reported, but the CD that result are unusable (can't be read in the drive, with the LED blinks a few times and then to infinity).

Someone has an idea how solve this ptoblem? Thank you

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

I suggest that you go the Device Manager on your laptop and then remove your devive DVD-ROM in the list. When you have done this and then select the option "Find new hardware" and allow Windows XP Reinstall the device and associate the appropriate driver.

  • Satellite Pro A40 - driver Windows 7 sound.

Hi, IM running Win 7 beta on one of my laptops, which is be a satellite pro a40.

Ive got everything right except the "multimedia Audio Controller" aka the soundchip and the display adapter, which doesn't really count that I can see the screen etc anyway.

Now all I really need are vista 32 drivers where they are compatible with windows 7 32 OS.

But I can't find anywhere and archive here only has win2000 and xp more, I tried both and no work.

    Help!

    Thank you

I think you should search for drivers if external websites on the Toshiba site are not drivers for Vista available.

As far as I know that the Satellite Pro A40 is equipped with an Intel graphics card and so you should find the driver on the Intel page
    [www.intel.com]

In addition, the laptop has a card his Analog Devices. I checked the manufactures Web site and in the [FAQ-area | http://forms.analog.com/Form_Pages/soundMax/soundMaxSupportFAQ.html#question1] I founded the following information:
    > SoundMAX provides no drivers or software directly to computer users. To download drivers, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer
You will not find a driver for the sound card, but maybe an another Toshiba notebook is equipped with the same sound card so that's why you can find a driver for Vista.
    Check it!

  • Satellite Pro A40 - cannot connect WIFI tstablish

    Hi guys

    I have a Satellite Pro Model: PSA45E - 0184H - EN

Problem is I can not establish a wireless connection, the laptop can not be set automatically detect wireless networks?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi robs1971,

Is your wireless network card equipped laptop? I ask this question because some Satellite Pro A40 models did not have WLAN features so I would be important to know if you have WLAN or not.

Also check device manager if the wireless network card is installed correctly. Make sure that this latest WLAN driver is installed, and check the Toshiba WLAN Portal:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

If WLAN network is within reach and SSID is not hidden the computer will automatically recognize. Then you need to enter the encryption key and that s all! :)

  • Satellite Pro A40 - how to turn on wireless?

    Hello

I recently formatted and installed Windows XP Professional on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A40.
But I can't understand how to activate Wifi on the computer.

When I press FN + F8, nothing happens. All the drivers are installed properly, no errors appear in the Device Manager in Windows. Do I have to install specific drivers, like I used to use the other FN keys (I needed to install common Modules)?

I also have a (Linksys Wireless - G WPC54G) PCMCIA card. When I put the card in the laptop, the power led flashes once, but also nothing happens. This card is not compatible with this laptop?

Please can you give me some advice?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Nothing

    Hey,.

What is the card listed WLAN correctly in Device Manager? Or you see yellow exclamation points or unknown devices?

Maybe you should try to update the WLAN driver. On the Toshiba site, you can find the most recent version.

You should also tell us what happens if you search for your WLAN router. The WIFI connection is displayed in network connections?

  • Satellite Pro A40: Is it possible to format the HARD drive without disk

I am passing on a Satellite Pro A40 to a brother. It is in very good condition, but has slowed down over the years. I want to get rid of my data (I have on a new machine) and speed up the system by formatting the hard drive.

The machine didn't come with a disc for Windows XP, or a recovery CD (just a CD "tools and utilities"). I'm sure the drive HARD will be partitioned, and I can format the drive without such a disc.

If this is true, how should I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I can't believe that you do not have recovery media.
The laptop must be supplied with recovery CD, Tools & Utilities CD, and WinDVD.

    But back to your question;
If you insert a new HARD disk, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install the operating system.
The new drive is not partitioned HARD and doesn't have any OS pre-installed!

If you n t have the original CD of Microsoft OS you can contact the service provider allowed in your country and you can order it.

    I hope I could help
