  • Cannot modify READ ONLY file attributes using the administrator account

I tried the windows Explorer and a custom program called Directory Opus. I tried to create several administrator accounts, but not luck.

I can't work with this existing problem.

    I need a solution.

I have exactly the same problem.  Following the steps above did not work, folders/subfolders unchangeable rest.  I am the owner of the folder and subfolders.  I don't know yet how they became Read-Only to start.  Read-only on the individual files setting works correctly.  Changing the settings of file does not work.

    IMPORTANT EDIT:

According to a message from the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
You cannot view or change the read-only or system attributes
To summarize, Windows does not include system or read-only folders settings (he was aware of these properties on the FILES however).  Individual applications that you use cannot ignore the State of read-only on a folder and can give an error.  In my situation, an application was trying to create a new file in a folder that has been marked read-only and honored the RO parameter and refuses to try to create the new file.

To actually change these attributes, properties menu will not work.  The KB source:

    • If you click apply changes to this folder only , the read-only attribute is changed for all files in the folder. However, the read-only attribute is not changed for the folder, its subfolders or files in its subfolders. If you click apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files , the read-only attribute is changed for all files in the folder and all files in the subfolders. However, the read-only attribute is not changed for the folder or its subfolders.

To change these properties, the user must start a Terminal command line and execute the changes by hand, for example, this command:

    • attrib - r + s c:\test

.. What will remove the READ ONLY parameter and apply the SYSTEM setting in the folder.  Once more, change the properties of files (including files in subfolders) works as expected with the right click - Properties-> Security menu.

  • I deleted internet explore and now my computer and firefox will not work/really slow. How to fix?

I thought I had a virus on my Internet explore and the tech in the street guy told me to download firefox and remove internet Explorer. When I did it, firefox will not load but shows up in my task manager everytime I try to open it. My computer is very slow now and firefox does not open...

Sometimes my computer is running slow also. If Firefox will do it, see if you can download internet explorer from there, but as you said that it was slow, it might take some time.

  • Cannot modify read only options for all my files

Original title: properties of the file.

All of my files have become "read only".  Even if I'm an admin I can't change that.  If I open the properties and uncheck the read-only box, it emerges, I click on apply and OK, but the file remains read-only.

    Hi David,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

From your description, it seems that you can not change the only option of reading to all your files in the computer.

I'll be happy to help you. This problem can be caused if the files are corrupt and comes into conflict with other programs.

I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

1 have you ever done any recent hardware or software on your computer changes?

    2. have you created the file read-only?

I suggest to follow the steps below and we update on the State of the question.

To view or to remove the read-only or the attributes of system files in Windows Vista

    a. click Start, click run, type cmd, and press enter.

    b. to display the syntax for the Attrib command, type attrib /? at the command prompt.

To remove the read-only attribute and to set the system attribute, use the following command:

    attrib - r + s drive:------------

For example, to remove the read-only attribute and set the attribute to system for the C:\Test folder, use the following command:

    attrib - r + s c:\test

Be aware that some programs may not operate correctly with folders for which the read-only attribute and the system attribute are granted. Therefore, use the following command to remove these attributes:

    attrib - r s by car:------------

For example, to remove both the read-only and the attributes to system for the C:\Test folder, use the following command:

    attrib - r-s c:\test

If the run command is not listed in the Start menu, follow these steps:

Click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, and then click run.

  • I have two monitors and Firefox will not come on the screen.

You get a sticker or other indication on the Windows task bar that there is a window of Firefox "somewhere", but it is not visible anywhere?

If there is a tile (or a title of the window above the Firefox button in the task bar):

The Firefox window sometimes opens off screen. If you have a multiple monitor configuration, make sure that both monitors are on. Other users have reported that sometimes Firefox acts strangely while the second monitor is turned off. You mentioned that both monitors are on in your case.

In all other cases: you can often force the Firefox window is displayed on the screen by double clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old as well.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or search from the start menu (bar (or, in Windows 8 may bar charms bar research?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder):

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old as well.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

  • When I uncheck "read only" on a folder, it will not be checked. Help!

I moved a file of data to a new partition.  The program, I am running of this partition should write to the folder, but the attribute is "read only." When I right click on the folder and uncheck the 'read only' that will change the attribute and it will do the same on the subfolders.  However, when the file is closed and come back, he is still "read only."  As a result, the program that I use cannot work properly.  I know this has something to do with permissions but do not know what to do next. I am the only user on my pc with Vista Home Premium installed at home.  Any tips, suggestions or alternatives?  Thank you.

Found my own answer.  Vista requires programs to install with "Run as Administrator" to have all the folder permissions.  So, I reinstalled my program using 'Run as Administrator' and moved the data folder to the target disk.  The folder moved with all permissions, and everything's fine.  Hope this helps someone else!

I had the same NYT years account and I got disconnected somehow. Computer is protected by a firewall and antivirused, no viruses known etc...

    Thanks for the reply.

I solved the problem. It turns out that there was a problem with my anti-virus software, which involved a filter cookies that had to be put off. DOH!

  • I am trying to sign a certificate (using Mac) and Firefox will not accept the password.

The certificate is used to authenticate my identity.

He rejects every time - turn the box a certificate with password space empty. I've seen a few questions about certificate issues in Firefox there a few months they will be solved? Any ideas of a workaround in the meantime?

    Hello
I had the same problem, and I read somewhere that, according to a mozilla knowledge base article, the password is a requirement for import certificates (although the corresponding KB page is now unavailable)

I tried the following and it worked for me:
-certificates of export on the desktop
    -remove the certificates in firefox
-set a master password on firefox (preferences - security - using the master password)
    -import certificates

You should now be able to sign.

  • com.sun.faces.el.impl.ElException: cannot set read-only expressions

    Hi all

I have done rendering m using the conditional expression for the selected attribute of < af:selectBooleanCheckbox >, but the read-only check box and I am not able to deselect them or select later.

    Here is the code:

    * < af:selectBooleanCheckbox value = "#{rank." Eligible == 'Y '? "{true: false}" id = "selectBooleanCheckbox1" / >. *

If I use the JSF HTML component like * < h:selectBooleanCheckbox value = "#{rank." Eligible == 'Y '? "{true: false}" id = "selectBooleanCheckbox1" / > * and uses conditional expression, the box is rendered and I am able to select or deselect. However once I have send the form then throw it upwards under the exception:

    com.sun.faces.el.impl.ElException: cannot set read-only expressions

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Hi Prasad,

You don't mention that you use for your model layer; the easiest way to proceed is to expose a Boolean attribute on your model layer and link box to the. If you use ADF business components, just to create a transitional attribute and create a getter for her in the java class that will return true or false, depending on the value of "eligible" in the same way, create a Set accessor, which sets the 'eligible' O/N according to if true/false is passed.

  • The computer date went before a day, switched back and now Firefox will not record history.

Hey guys! My brothers and sisters have decided to play a trick on me and changed my computer to the front of a week time (panic ensued). I changed it to the current date, 07/30/2104 21:18 (at time of writing), and now Firefox will not trace of my story. • Firefox will not allow a site to work correctly, but IE only

I use www.teambeachbody.com for my training and my business. Firefox will not have menus to appear, and I can't click on the buttons for navigation; However, Internet Explorer * will *. I HATE the Explorer because it runs very slowly, but I don't have a choice at this point. No idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

    Start with some basic troubleshooting.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • Firefox will not download Google cloud playlist or music. OPERA only works. Why is this?

What I get when I try to download my music is a page with three icons: three ways to pay. However, I get my two playlists, and they work fine. The main library, however, is not download

No, unfortunately, I have always the same problem. And you know, I did all the things you suggested - even to the point of re-installing Firefox.

Please note, however, that everything is working as it's supposed to opera. The problem occurs only in Chrome and Firefox (I prefer to use).
