  • "Extraction failure: cannot open output file" error message when installing new drivers

Hello, I am trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 printer.  I downloaded the complete drivers of features for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:

    Extraction failed

    Cannot open output file

And the process ends.  He arrived at about 85% extraction every time.

No idea why?  I called HP, but no longer under warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - not even give me basic support?  Poor, poor customer service.

    Hi GIJeff12,

    Temporarily disable any AntiVirus/Antispyware software.

Cut the installer on your desktop then click on the Start Menu, click computer, double-click on the C: drive and paste the installler here.  Now try a right click on the installer for your printer, choose 7-Zip and choose Extract the files, and then click Ok.  If the installation program extracts now correctly, follow these steps.  If it does not extract, let me know.

Disconnect your printer from the PC.  Restart your PC.

Open the newly extracted folder and double-click the setup application to start the installation (the installation application will probably have the same icon as the original installation software that you downloaded).  Connect the printer to your computer when you are asked.

If it was a success, re - enable your security software.

    Best wishes

  • Cannot open my get Live Mail error message

I have a older laptop on Windows 7.  Today I can not get my Live Mail to open, get an error message: error trying to connect with Windows Live Calendar service.  I wonder if this is related to the received emails recently welcome me to Outlook. com for mobile, synchronization, programming etc.  I'm not on social media sites and always use a phone to valve to talk only, so no need of these services.

Is this an update of Microsoft any?  I just want to take my account e-mail running again.  Apparently Live Mail and other essential products will not be supported after mid January 2017.  Can I update and keep the material currently in my email box?  I'm a senior, so not a techie, please keep the answers in "non-geek" talk.  Thank you.

    Hello

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forum, please be assured that we would do our best to help you.

Please answer the following questions that would help us provide a better solution:

1 have had any changes made to the computer before the show?

    2. who is your provider of mail service?

    3. is your email set up for the email client?

    4. If so, which mail client you use to send emails?

Silverlight is an add-on provided by Microsoft via Windows update to Internet Explorer and other browsers. She is required to view flash content on websites or email like Adobe flash player. Most of the websites created today need to Silverlight module to view the Web site.

As a first step of troubleshooting, I recommend that you update Microsoft Silverlight. Please click here on where to download and check if your Silverlight is up-to-date.

Also make sure that Silverlight is currently disabled in the section Add on your browser.

    Step 1:

    Here's how:

    1. open your browser.
    2. in the Tools Menu, click on Manage Add-ons .
    3. in the toolbars and Extensions, select Microsoft Silverlight .
    4. If it says disabled, click the Activate button.
    5. click on Close.

Step 2: If the problem persists, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall Silverlight and check if this is useful:

Consult the following link which would help to uninstall Silverlight:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/uninstall-or-change-a-program

You can visit the following link to download the latest version of Silverlight:

  • When I try to connect my computer with XP operating system, I get this error message to: rund1132.exe and cannot log out.

    original title: log question.

When I try to connect my computer with XP operating system, I get this error message to: rund1132.exe and cannot log out.  How can I fix?

    Hi KERRYYX,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?
    4. What is the full error message that you receive?
    5. Are you able to restart and shut down the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
