  • Re: Cannot use the recovery on Satellite L505D partition

    Hello.

I am trying to help a friend with their Satellite L505D who had a serious virus problem. I wasn't able to run/install programs with the virus on it. I used a Microsoft tool to remove the rootkit trojan, but I always had problems with viruses. I also lost most of the programs on the computer. All folders were empty (except for some games), so I could not access all of the tools in this way. I could not the machine to load any Toshiba restore utility by pressing zero everything with power. I saw some recovery using F8 during the startup options and had a link to restore the original setting of Toshiba, but clicking that choice has done nothing else a break for a few seconds. I waited several minutes, clicked on it again, rebooted and tried. Nothing. As a side note, once all the while, the recovery partition was visible from explorer.exe. Not before or since.

So I reformatted the computer with a 64-bit Win7 Home Premium Upgrade disk (the partition of restoration by leaving intact) and then enter the key for the system. Supprise, supprise, it asks me to activate within 3 days.

My basic question is, can I access this partition recovery in a different way to use it? IE copy its contents, or start on some comand prompt to log e:?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Hello

To be clear: there is only one way to use the saved on the HARD drive recovery image and install it.
Exact description step by step how you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If this does not work, only way to do it anyway is to use the recovery DVDs. It is: has your friend created these disks?

  • Satellite L505D-GS6000 cannot read files on recovery CD

    Hello

Ive been trying to reset my Toshiba SATELLITE L505D-GS6000 and I get to the wizzard of recovery and he said: copying files.

After about a half hour it it comes up with an error message saying: he can't read the files on the Cd.
Is there another way to restore? or I have to pay for the new recovery cd?

    Hello

Perhaps the disc is scratched or the CD/DVD drive laser lens is dirty.
Try to clean the lens of alcohol or cotton tip.

If this is not enough, try to copy the recovery to another disk disc using other computers.
Then try to restore the Toshiba laptop using the new disk created.

If this is not enough, order a new disc.

  • Satellite L505D - memory upgrade Possible?

    Hi all.

I have laptop Satellite L505D-S5965. It has 3 GB memory DDR2 SDRAM 333 MHz. Specifications are here:
    http://www.CNET.com/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L505D-s5965/4507-3121_7-33695859.html

I could install 2 times x 4 GB DDR3 800 MHz in this laptop? My CPU/motherboard support it? Or can I install DDR2 600 Mhz SDRAM?

I saw a couple of laptops same on ebay that had mentioned DDR3.

    I don't know, but the motherboard is probably V000185540. It has a AMD X 2 QL - 65 processors.
CPU info can be found here:
    http://www.CPU-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%20QL-65%20-%20AMQL65DAM22GG.html
It is stated that the speed of the bus
333 MHz dual channel DDR2 SDRAM memory controller
One 2000 MHz 16 - bit HyperTransport link
Made it me confused - this is the maximum speed of memory, I can install it?

AMD 780 G with SB700 south bridge chipset is.

Operating system is Windows 7, should be no problem with it.

If someone wants to be able to answer my question, I would appreciate it a lot.

I put t understand why ask you this question?
You have validated the page with specifications and it is said clearly: Max RAM taken in charge: 8 GB
So you can use 2 x 4 GB RAM modules

The speed of the RAM depends on the speed of the front side Bus: care page says: 800 Mhz.
So still fastest of all the RAM would go to 800 Mhz

    > Can't do my CPU/motherboard? Or can I install DDR2 600 Mhz SDRAM?
You cannot mix DDR3 and DDR2. Both are physically different.

  • Changing the settings of the BIOS with Satellite L505D-S5006

Hello! I am trying to access my BIOS to change some settings in it, but when I enter the BIOS Setup I can't change anything in there (everything is greyed out) and the options are minimal. Currently, my BIOS version is 1.0.0. I tried to download the needed update for it, but when I install and try to run it, it says "cannot retrieve information from the system BIOS. BCPSYS block signature not found. Error code:-100. »

I am downloading from this page here: [http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_bios.jsp?service=EU]
    * Product type: * for laptop
    * Family: * satellite
    * Series of products: * Satellite L series
    * Model: * Satellite L505D
    * Short model: * (for some reason any the only option here is PSLT9E, but my PSLV6U reading on the bottom of the laptop.) This has something to do with not updated to the correct version, I wonder?)

So I have to skip the last step and [http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport1.toshiba-tro.de%2ftedd-files2%2f0%2fbios-20100510134014.zip] appears so I downloaded and installed and that's where the problems start.

In short, there is an another easier way to enter a BIOS where I can change the settings? Or what I need to find a different BIOS update?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The whole story is a bit strange.
Every new notebook comes without any limitations of the BIOS, and when you buy a new laptop, for that you must have full access to all the available BIOS settings.
    So the question is:
Have you bought this laptop like new?
Is - the first time you try to change something in the BIOS?
You may have defined user password (Toshiba Assist > course > user password)?

You can use Toshiba hardware configuration tool to change the settings (settings of the BIOS)?

    Hello Toshiba community

I have a model of Satellite L505D-S5965 and apparently, more the sumer, I don't have an anti-virus. All members of my family had used this computer and now it seems to me that he is infected with a large number of viruses. For example, now that I have renewed my McAfee subscription, my computer does not have McAfee. I double click on it and I just get the pop-up window of McAfee and it appears only in white. Also, when I try to run programs of browser such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, two of them don't open even.

I wanted to ask you is, how can I restore my Satellite L505D-S5965 to its factory settings? I know you might need a recovery disk, but y at - it another way?

You can try to do this by using the HDD recovery procedure > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

I had tested machine because he kept closing and the technician said there was nothing wrong with the fan etc. so you have to order that next, I'll try, but what is the right part?

For your Satellite A30 you need AC adapter 100-240V AC 50 - 60 Hz 120W with DC output 19V with PA3290U-1ACA part number.

  • Satellite L505D - problem with mode standby in Windows 7

It's me again, in the last thread:

    "Hello friends,

I have a big problem when Windows 7 updated itself. I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L505D. When I close the lid, it will automatically 'sleep' mode. Unfortunately, the screen is black and the laptop is still in progress, I have to stop it and then turn. Is it a problem with the driver 'stack '? Please, help me :)). "

The mode 'sleep' worked perfeclty for a few days and it's still gone... What more when I try to enter the mode "sleep" I can't do anything on the laptop, it still works on the white screen and the transformers fan works high speed. In recent days, when the "sleep mode" worked, windows has no update...

I don't know what is happening... :) Weird problem, isn't?

It is not easy to say why this is happening. In your last post, you wrote about some updates of windows. Who knows what's wrong there.
If nothing is done, not even system restore and you want to use the standby mode I recommend you save all your data and install the new OS by using recovery mode.

With the settings everything's going to be OK but then be careful with updates.

I read a lot of topic as mine but idon't know what the problem is.

    Hello

Perform another task FN buttons work or only the FN + F8 key doesn t combination?
Usually the Support of Flash memory card utility must be installed because this tool control keys FN.
    Did you install this tool?
    Otherwise, to do this
Beside the Support Flash Card utility, you must install the VFR too.

After reading this, I must say that this will not work. You can't simply copy these recovery filed on another installation of HARD drive recovery and start. It will not work.
Either you can start installation of recovery following procedure of Toshiba how to start HARD drive recovery facility or you must create recovery DVDs and use it for the installation of the OS.

This recovery DVDs can be used on each HARD drive. With other words, you can replace the HARD drive with new and use the recovery image installation DVD.

Following your logic, each can simply copy files and use it on some laptops. It will not work.
You have created a DVD Toshiba tips/description on the creation of following recovery from recovery discs?

I have Satellite L500D which is similar to yours and I never touch the volume control. I never had a problem with it. For example if I type something on the laptop or work with the touchpad only, my hands to land on the top cover where I n t touch this volume control wheel.

Anyway: AFAIK it deactivated t if you have to life with her.

After the P2V process, I am unable to power on virtual machines in VMware server. I get the following message:

VMware Server 1.x does not support nested virtual machines.  Workstation 7 is the first product with the official support of virtualization nested, although other recent VMware products should work, with some constraints.  See nested running VMs.

    Thank you

    Ganesh.

    Ganesh,

Memory reservations are defined based on VM by VM.

You can allocate more memory to the virtual machines you have in your host (it's not really a good idea to go crazy with the overcommitment of memory, but some level of excessive pressure is used in general).  Memory applied to your VM resources are shares, bookings and VMkernel Swap limits.

    Just to illustrate:

You allocate 8 GB memory to a virtual computer.  If you take all the parameters by default, ESX will allot a 8 GB VMkernel Swap file in the base directory of your VM (it will have the extension ".vswp") this VMkernel Swap file is a safety net.  Your virtual machine, at this stage, can consume up to 8 GB of memory If physics is available from the host.  If the memory of your host is overcommitted, some of the available memory 8 GB could be allocated on 8 GB VMkernel Swap file.

If you set a reserve of memory - 2 GB - this means that the vmkernel will still award the first 2 GB of memory used by the virtual machine to the physical memory.  This is not means that the 2 GB of memory reserved is carved off the coast and completely dedicated to the virtual machine.  This means that the vmkernel offers up to 2 GB of RAM to the VM when and if she needs to use it.  It is a guarantee that the memory will be available upon request.  Because of this guarantee of the VMkernel, VMkernel swap file only has to make sure that the 6 GB memory is satisfied (4 GB total less the 2 GB reserved), so the VMkernel Swap file is only 6 GB in size.

Actions are a mechanism for prioritization and limits are a cap on physical memory ever allocated to the VM.

You can set up any number of memory for the virtual machines that you want - frankly, overcommitment of memory for ESX is a very good thing, but you must be vigilant about watching your systems if approve you.  If you have 64 GB of RAM, and you only configure your virtual machines to use total 32G, then you lose 32 GB of RAM.  If you allocate, say, 96 GB of RAM (total) to your virtual machines, then you look at a 50% overcommitment.  What to watch in overcommitting memory is application performance (and more importantly - perception of the user of this performance) and also the memory ballooning and VMkernel Swapping activity.  Those who can both will be in graphics performance in VirtualCenter.  I would recommend reading the Guide to management resources for more details.

    Hope that provides an overview.

    Thank you

    -jk
