  I indicated that I was using 10.6.8 - Snow Leopard-.  I finally found the original CD, loaded the old software and voila, everything works fine now.

  2 did you the chnages in the computer before this problem?

  If you call HP Support at 800-474-6836 they should be able to help determine your warranty and replace your cartridge. Let me know what happens.
