Cannot reduce the size of the image

I have a picture that I took in RAW with a Canon 5 d. Then, I've hidden a large part of the image using the adjustment brush. The result was what I wanted, but the picture is now very large. I exported a DNG image to maintain editability. The DNG resulting is 53 679 kb. If I export the image to a JPG to 25% quality, limiting the size of 2000 pixels on the longer side I always get a picture of 7 795 kb.

I had this problem with before masking. Is it possible to get rid of indigestion caused by masking?

Jim

Thanks, guys answered my question without answering it directly. I just did a series of tests to confirm my "flash bulb.

What I didn't understand, and I don't know why, that all changes are stored as metadata. is it good?

To satisy also your interest as to why I need masking. I have attached two images. Both images contain the exact changes with the exception of the masking. When the photo was taken, the Sun was on the city but the clouds blocked the light of the background. The only way I could control the brightness of the background has been to hide the sky behind the rooftops of the city. The problem with hiding that it is very intensive size.

The two attached images are with metadata only "copyright". They are, respectively, 515kb and 471kb.

The same two images with the same compression with "All the metadata" are respectively 8 062 Ko and 489 kb.

The metadats of a masking represents 7, 573 kb. Incredible.

Thanks again for the help.

Jim

Furthermore, the final image with the masking will serve as the cover of a magazine glossy on San Francisco. I was just an updated web page to view the full photoshoot on my web site. You will be able to see him tomorrow at www.jpalik.com

Original title: cannot reduce the size of photos for emailing.

    Hello

Windows 7 came with a pre-installed email program.

    If you have installed one?
    Windows Live Mail is popular
    http://explore.live.com/Windows-Live-Essentials?OS=other
    Is Thunderbird http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

After installing an e-mail program, make sure you have a default e-mail together program control panel > Default programs > set access and computer program defaults > Custom > click the caret down.

The default e-mail program must be installed on the computer - e.g.Outlook Express, Windows Mail (Vista), Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.

Web-based e-mail services cannot be made except by default e-mail program:
    * Yahoo, with the Yahoo tool bar

  • Cannot create the Image of the system or system, unknown error repair disc: 0x80004005.

Original title: cannot create the Image of the system or system repair disc

I just bought a new Windows 7 computer. I tried to create a system repair disc, but still receive the error msg - error (0x80004005) unspecified. I tried - and lost - several DVDs in the process. Also, not able to create a System Image disc. The computer says that I have to format the drive and when I click OK, it goes through the movement, then gives me an error msg that the Format has failed. (In addition, it does me not the possibility not to format the drive.)  Very frustrating...

    Hi iamkira,

This problem can be caused by a conflict with other programs installed on your computer, usually antivirus software. Follow the steps described in this document to create the drive in a clean boot state.

  • Cannot install VMware ESXi 4.1 "cannot find the image of the installed system.

    The installation operation failed!

The installation operation encountered a fatal error:

Cannot find the image of the installed system.  This is due to the image being not mounted correctly or the CD-ROM not supported.

The material is a system of handcrafted with Intel DQ35JO Council, latest version of the BIOS, Intel E6850 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, 2 SATA drives.  I know this isn't on the list compatible but is a 'white box '.  I installed ESXi 3.5 on it in the past and got it working, and I saw other success stories with this Board/CPU.  Yes, I have activated the virtualization mode in the BIOS and powered down/up.

    Here is what I tried:

-Redownload VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 4.1.0 - 260247.x86_64.iso to ensure that it was not corrupt (2 copies, against perfectly)

--Also tried another drive (IDE) CDROM

-Created a bootable USB using uNetBootin 4.7.1 and booted from it

-Switched SATA setting in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE

I get the same exact error.  I searched here and everywhere and don't find any reference to this error.

Help - all do you offer for my next step?

Have you had a previous vSphere installed on your system?

I had the same error on my 'white box' (in fact, it is black).  I used to run esxi 4.0 (u2) on my Acer X 3300 (6 GB, Quad Core AMD Athlon II).  Controllor internal SATA is not supported, but it allows me to use the box for normal windows task and ESXi is sitting on a SDHC 4 GB flash card.

When I started my freshly burned ESX4.1 cdrom, I got the same error.   I thought that the fact that maybe there was an existing install on my destination drive (the flash memory card), and that the CD could not perform an upgrade.

So, I tried the upgrade path (first trying to utility of the host and the .xml error message).  After reading the manual, I did the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 using the device of vMA and I must say that esxi 4.1 works great on my white box.

Then I suggest that you try upgrading and see how far that gets you.

Good luck (and a beautiful weekend)

How can I reduce the size of the photos when they are sent with Windows Mail?  I know that I can reduce the size by selecting the image directly and by inserting in emails, but I want to send several photos in an email.   Thank you!

Open Windows Photo Gallery > you can select one image at a time > click email at the top > select your image size > click on attach > repeat the same procedure in the following image and so forth

When in fact all the photos you've selected and resized will be attached to the same e-mail in Windows Mail. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • Cannot reduce the size of previews.lrdata

    Hi all

My Previews.lrdata folder is 45 GB. On a 500 GB SSD (end 2013 15 "MacBook Pro retina), it is a reasonable piece.

So I went through and used the menu option "ignore surveys 1:1..." in all the pictures that I do not expect to change again. Somewhat to my surprise, the Previews.lrdata folder did not file size of 1 byte. I used the option "optimize catalog", but that doesn't seem to do anything either.

I prefer not to empty the cache of the preview while suppressing the Previews.lrdata, regarding the last pictures I've not edited and yet I enjoyed having to previews pre-rendered 1:1.

I don't expect too much here? Should not be a relationship between throw me 1:1 previews and a reduction in the size of the Previews.lrdata folder?

    Thank you

So if I reduce the size of the standard preview for the screen resolution below, then Lightroom uses only brief (down-scales) 1:1...

    That is right.

    ntompson wrote:

What are the downsides to this?

No - your standard previews have been set too high before.

    ntompson wrote:

Why have a standard preview at all?

For reasons of performance - faster to enter/resize some smaller if he wants to.

    ntompson wrote:

Would I better off put the standard preview to the smallest possible size?

Lol if you do this, then Lr re - will make a brief 1:1 for fit view, even if a standard preview was already available (because it would be too small). Certainly, if the 1:1 Preview is already available, it wouldn't need the re - make, but if you are when they expire, it may not be available, and despite this, it takes more time to load/resize a larger and a smaller preview.

    ntompson wrote:

When I do the standard preview size change in Lightroom, then does invalidate all standard previews in my catalog? Does crank through and to regenerate all the standard previews to the new size?

No and no (but in my opinion, the user should be prompted to see if he/she would like to rebuild so size or quality changes).

In many cases, the difference over having a frame is too small or too large a framework, will be almost (or totally) without consequence. To be honest, I'm surprised that adobe exposed this option to the user, since most users have any idea what optimum setting should be. If I were Adobe, I suppose that Lr/hand-UI would be on the bigger screen and automatically size previews accordingly. Often when I mention this, people point out that the same catalog can also be used on a laptop, review how would be more optimal, and there are other considerations double monitor.., but hey - whatever...

PS - Lightroom creates different preview (up to) 7 sizes: from 1:1 to little thumb. When he creates a large preview (1:1 or standard), he created all the smaller previews also, in halfening size. It is very fast, and no doubt explains the reason why it will not throw a 1:1 if next (standard) would be more than half it's size (it's actually only create 6 previews in this case: 1:1 through thumb, there is no big standard preview size you specified in this case) (, or if you prefer another way of seeing things: the preview of 1:1 is your largest standard preview).

If you want to better understand what is stored for previews, you can play with the PreviewExporter plugin I wrote (free) - it allows you to specify at what level (1-7) to preview you want to export, and if you enable verbose logging will provide info on what was available, and what level of preview has been exported. Here is an excerpt of "post-process action" (export filter) UI:

    See you soon,.

  • Cannot reduce the size of the VMDK file

    OK, here's my story:

I started with the growable virtual 40 GB HD default mapped as C:\ on my virtual machine. The HD received complete and had poor performance and I converted it to a prealloue 100 GB HD. It worked OK for a while, but then I created a new virtual HD mapped as D:\ to store data.

So my problem was C:\ was too big which made backup of the virtual machine of your time, and I thought I have to resize C:\ 30 GB. My first test was to convert it to a HD growable. This remains a 100 GB on the host vmdk file.

Then, I used the two compacts from the GUI and stop at the command prompt on the convert HD Nope, still 100 GB vmdk file on the host.

Then I used a disk management program to reduce the size of the c:\ partition with 30 GB and run both shrink and compact again. Guess what, the vmdk file is always 100 GB.

I'm running out of ideas on what to do to reduce the size of the vmdk file. Any ideas?

Yes, I did, but I used compact from the GUI and stop at the command line (vmware - vmdiskmanager.exe). At that time I didn't there's a shrink option in VMWare tools.

In this case try to diminish with the extra partition (temporary).

Which converter you were referring to in your previous post?

  • Cap 7: Cannot reduce the size of the caption text in the very small

    Hello

    Cape 7.0.1.237.

I can't reduce the caption text to make them very small. for example to include just the word "cell".

The smallest, I can do it is the 152 H 62.

When I try to reduce it more small that a red line appears on the top and sides of the legend of text on the slide.

Updated text style legend - Arial 14 regular points. Left and top alignment.

'Constraint properties' are NOT selected. The spacing is '1', the margins are all "0".

    Donal.

One of the many limitations of these old text legends, there is a minimum size, as far as I KNOW.

Another reason why I chose mainly to use shapes and text containers. Is not an option for you? They can be reduced to much smaller sizes.

  • Why print multiple pages per sheet reduce the image?

Two pages of 5.5x8.5 must print 2-up on 8.5 x 11 WITHOUT reducing the size of the image. Taxation of basic page! (I'm talking about Acrobat DC, specifically.)

    The answer is very simple.

Acrobat does not currently a tool of imposition of real page. How Acrobat reduced the size of the pages has to do with areas conscious as defined by the printer driver and therefore, even if you try to make a booklet of 5.5x8 pages on paper 8.5 x 11, Acrobat reduced the size of the pages to accommodate the unprintable margins.

There are third party for Acrobat plugins that perform this and much more sophisticated tax functions.

  • Can there be a script to reduce the images by a percentage?

    Hello

I'm trying to decrease the file size of a .swf file.  To do this, I'll have to export all images in flash in photoshop, then reduce the size to a certain % to maintain the proportions of the origianl images in the. Fla.  After they have been downsized, I have to then reinsert them into flash and then place them were they should be to ensure that everything is in place correctly.  yeesh.

So to make my life a little easier, is there a way to set photoshop so that these images (all in a certain folder) can be treated so that they are say, 60% of the original size for each of them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can create folders on each image that Photoshop should be able to do for you that action of one simple step should you need not a script. Use file menu > Automate > batch Point dialog box to your files and your little batch resize action.  Checking size of Resample image and constrain select the interpolation like Bicubic Sharper method and set the width on the pecent of the initial width like 90%

Anyone know of this problem? or maybe someone could do?

    Hello

I doubt that it is a BIOS problem.

The fact is that the laptop uses the SATA HDD controller and your imaging software cannot recognize the HARD drive due to lack of SATA drivers.

The Intel Matrix Storage Manager package located on the Intel page contains the necessary files to the SATA.

The width of the window of the Bluetooth File Exchange application can not narrowed, has increased. How can I reduce the width of the window or reset default window width?

I use the Bluetooth File Exchange to browse files on a device (in my case, a Windows laptop). The application works normally, but I can't reduce the width of the window. The resizing handles only the increase in bandwidth. The height can be increased or decreased as you would expect.

All is well until the system tries to install the image and then I get an error: failed to restore of system image. There is no drive that can be used to recover the system.

I caught a 1 to, a disc, which annoyingly I wants to go to the origin but rather picked up a 500 GB and the restoration seeks to advance. It has at least not out crapped on the date and is trying to restore the image to the new drive. With the fast error when restoring to the 500 GB drive, it seems the image was to remember the size of the partition and reluctant.
