Firefox asked me to upgrade my sound system & in the process, I have installed a Zombie and I can't uninstall it in Windows 7 via my control panel. I expected more of Firefox as a privacy feature!

Sorry to hear about this, you should always beware of the pop-ups - never open or install anything, unless it is on the official website. Firefox has built-in features (and extensions that you need to find and install) to protect your privacy and security, but all users must still be careful with their browsing habits. Windows Defender cannot be used with AVG, McAfee, MSE or Norton, and several other AV products also report potential problems with Windows Defender.  It is part of the Vista and Win 7 operating system and cannot be uninstalled.  It must be uninstalled XP if you use AVG, McAfee, MSE and Norton.

  • I can't open the fonts folder in Control Panel.

3 type C:\Windows\System32\dllcache and press enter
    4 checks if fontext.dll . If it does, get a folder C:\Windows\System32
5 find the fontext.dll in this folder and delete it
    6. restart your PC and try to open the applet in the control panel fonts
    ---
If it does not, as another method of installation of the fonts, you can always copy and paste the font file in C:\Windows\System32\Fonts

  • Cannot run most of the programs in Control Panel because it says that I don't have \WINDOWS\system32\rundll.exe'. on my hard drive

I recently installed sp3 on my computor he had sp2 now when I access panel, I can't run any programs like display or add or remove programs or internet con. I tried the system restore but it will not go forward or backward I always got the error this file \WIndows\system32\rundll32.exe'. is not on the hard drive that I can reistall sp 2 with sp3 hope somone can help thanks lindell wood

If you have installed SP3 and now the file is missing, the opinion of the Support Engineer Microsoft won't help you unless you have a genuine XP installation CD also is Service Pack 3.

That's extremely unlikely, unless you did it yourself and some people have never seen a real installation of XP bootable CD in their life then, how is this will help...  But, this is a link to a Microsoft KB article.

When you try to open a control panel applet, you see a message like this:

    Control Panel
Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe '.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.  To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

If the file is actually missing, it was probably quarantined (actually deleted) programmatically your antivirus or anti-malware not specified that you use.

You might want to reconsider anything not stated antivirus or antimalware you programs use and whether or not they are effective to protect your system.

You can look in the c:\windows\system32 folder and see if the file is actually missing or not, but you should replace it somehow.

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:
    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called rundll32 when the name of the file should really be called rundll32.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

You then put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

That may not solve all your problems, but at least you will be spending this part and we can then fix the rest.

  • Windows Media Center learned remote control cable, cannot recognize the Windows Media Center remote control

Running Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  I rent a cable box so I can get some programs at the 3-digit level.  When I've set up my Windows Media Center (WMC), WMC learn successfully the cable box remote 1 - channel upward.  My problem is the next step and change the channel using the Windows Media Center remote control or keyboard.  My keyboard or the WMC remote will change the channel.

I got Windows Media Center to re - learn the cable box remote control twice, which is always successful, but again once, when the time comes to use the Windows Media Center remote control or my keyboard to change the channel, the channel does not change.

Could someone please help me with this?  Thank you in advance.

    Hey kansascitykid,

If you receive your TV signal through a set-top box and Media Center is unable to change the channel, or it changes channels incorrectly, check the following:

    ·        The infrared diffuser is connected to your remote control receiver. If the infrared diffuser is not connected, Media Center cannot send a signal to the set-top box to change a channel.

    ·        The infrared diffuser is well positioned at the front of the set - top box. If you are having trouble placing the IR blaster on the set - top box correctly, try to use a flashlight to locate the signal on the set - top box receiver.

    ·        IR control codes are configured correctly. If constantly changing channels, control IR codes may not have been configured correctly during the installation of TV signal. To reconfigure your TV signal, on the Windows Media Center start screen, highlight toTasks, clickSettings, click on TV, then clickSet up the TV Signal.

    • Center cannot send a signal to the set-top box to change a channel.

  • Cannot activate windows, or use the control panel

After searching the forum, I decided to post that I couldn't find something that relates to my question.  I've never had a problem like this before, nor have I heard of someone having a problem like this before.

I had a problem where multiple items in Control Panel do not work.  First of all, I thought I might miss an update, but that didn't work either.  I remembered that I have been turned off of the windows activation.  When I go in Panel of-> system and click "you must activate today. Activate Windows now" nothing happens. Nothing at all.

I first encountered this problem when I was trying to manage my firewall settings: Panel-> control panel all the elements-> Windows Firewall-> authorized programs.

Trying to allow a program through Windows Firewall. When I tried to click on "Allow another program" the same thing happened (absolutely nothing happened).  I followed this with trying to turn off my windows firewall completely, expecting the OS to get out the big warning saying that my computer is not protected please reactivate, etc..  I turned both outside the home and private and Public networks OFF and clicked on OK, and once again, nothing happened.

I don't know how long this problem has affected my computer, because I did not need to change the settings of Windows for at least a couple of months.  Other things I tried to do that it does include:

    User accounts:

    Change your account name

    Change your account type

    Manage another account

Thanks for the replies. I tried the suggestions the two first suggestions J W of Stuart, as well as a defragmentation. After these things, that I tried to run the repair installed and I couldn't do it, he could not see one of my old files. So I had to do a fresh install. Fortunately I did not lose a lot.  Thanks for the replies.

  • Satellite A200-Windows vista-USB Bluetooth - control panel

    Hello

I have a Satellite A200. In my previous notebook, a laptop Toshiba-no, I used a Bluetooth USB with Windows XP I've worked perfectly.

In the Toshiba, with Windows Vista, I can't use it. I have not available section of the Bluetooth technology in the Control Panel, (the windows guide this option may be inside the material and audio control panel option) and I can not set up.

In the planet of control device manager, I have the Bluetooth, properly installed w.vista. The Bluetooth USB is SMC-BT10.

    What can I do?

    Thank you

As a first step you should check user s manual and check for what operating systems is the designed product. I am 100% sure, it may not work under Vista. Check it out!

By the way: the third party hardware and software use is not supported by Toshiba. If you have any problems contact support from the manufacturer.

  • I can't find Windows Essentials in my control panel?

When I looked in my control panel I don't see my windows essentials?
also can I delete my old files to windows safely?

Windows Live Essentials is a Suite of separate programs and does not a manager in the Panel itself. Instead what direction he gets there by the entry in the list programs and features.

Once you have moved the files that you want to keep the Windows.old directory using disk cleanup > Clean system files utility to delete the folder to avoid problems of permissions.
