  • Cannot run chkdsk in mode in Windows 7

Well, it seems a bit odd, but these last weeks even if I try to run the "chkdsk/f/x c:" command in elevated mode it stops immediately after control of the type of volume as follows:

«The type of the file system is NTFS.»
Access denied as long as you have enough privileges.
You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode. »

The high mode title bar displays command prompt "Administrator: command prompt" and executes the diskpart and sfc commands quite normally, but the only problem is running chkdsk with indicator repair.

Even the GUI mode chkdsk option denies running chkdsk if repair is checked.

Tried to Disable Symantec Endpoint 12.1 and Comodo Firewall, but the problem is the same.

However, I never connected to built in Administrator profile, so today I am logged in as an administrator, windows has set up the office by creating a new profile and from there "chkdsk/f/x c:" works correctly.

Even more, if I use the following command then also chkdsk runs successfully

    runas / user: computer\Administrator "chkdsk c: /f /x.

Can you please give me a solution?

    Hi Denise,

Thank you for you answer and provide a detailed description of the issue. As you said, you had problems with his profile a few months ago, there could be opportunities for corruption in the user account that could have caused this problem.

Try to fix a corrupted user profile and check if it helps.

I hope this helps to solve the issue. If you still have the same problem, get back to us. We will be happy to help you.

Well, before I ask the question I already checked with a new profile.

Surprisingly today, after you have installed the Java runtime update a problem. Reasons? Anyone?

But thank you all for your support.

    Hi helzf,

You can try to run a Checkdisk on drive E to fix disk errors that can cause this problem. You can make a backup of the data on this drive and try to run checkdisk.

    Check out the link:

Check your hard drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Cannot run chkdsk and subsequently cannot run the defragmentation

I'm unable to defragment my hard drive. It is said that there is a regular print run of chkdsk at startup which never works. If I try to run chkdsk /f myself, I get a message that says that the computer is unable to lock the station and that the volume is already used by a different process. Does anyone have a tip?

Is it possible to run chkdsk or scandisk at startup by pressing a certain button?
Is there a list of tasks scheduled outside of that Panel?

    Hello

I assume that you have enabled the service chkdsk under properties of the HARD drive.
If you have activated the chkdsk in Windows you need to restart the device and after restarting again the blue screen should appear a the chkdsk must begins.

In my opinion you simply restart your device after the start of the chkdsk command.

  • Cannot run chkdsk - Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.

original title: can I run chkdsk on win xp home, but when I try to use switches, I get cannot lock the current drive. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. HELP PLEASE

I run chkdsk without switches on win xp home. I told myself I file error and to set running chkdsk with /f. but when I try, I get the cannot lock the drive, chkdsk may not run because ect...  I tried in safe mode, same thing. I sfc/scannow, but it has not fixed the problem files. help please

It's normal.  You can not run a check disk on your system disk because your system is to use.  The Message you get should ask you if you want to run it at the next reboot.  You must answer 'Yes' to this message, and then restart your computer.  A disk check should take place as it is restarted.

FYI: A check disk can take hours if you have a large drive or there are a lot of problems on the disc and you cannot use your machine while the scan is in progress.  Better to operate during the night.  Also, I got checkdsk completely erase the hard disk to the point where the only option was to reformat and reinstall Windows.  Make sure that your data available are well-supported before running Chkdsk.

  • Cannot run chkdsk/f.

Have windows xp/sp3. You try to run chkdsk/f. Message says system needs to run at next boot. When I do run scan disk only and reports errors found. Promts run me chkdsk/f. I tried this in safe mode, start normally. Same thing happens every time. What should I do?

    Hello terrystephens16

Go to "Start" "Run" type "msconfig" without the quotes. When the window opens select the first "Général" tab, select "normal startup" click on apply and OK

Have a look in the Msconfig tab > Boot.ini make sure that ' / SOS ' is disabled in the Startup Options section. If it is checked, then it will cause chkdsk check each time you start.

If you continue to have the problem with CHKDSK, then a command prompt window (start > all programs > Accessories > prompt)

    At the prompt, type

CHKNTFS /D (there is a space before /)

    Come in

    Reset

CHKDSK will run again, but I hope that it will be the last time that he did.

  • Cannot run chkdsk under Vista or restart

While Vista is on, volume is in use. Command prompt run as administrator, said volume in use - you want to run chkdsk on reboot - YES. However, chkdsk does not run after a reboot.

    Camden,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Most likely, there is a service or a process that prevents chkdsk from starting when the system restarts.  The best way to fix this is to go to a clean boot by disabling all unnecessary services and then allowing them one by one until the problem occurs. Then you will know what process or service is initially that he will not run.  Likely guilty would be the antivirus software or any third-party disk utilities.  Here's how to do a clean boot:

  • Run program at startup of windows 7

    Hi all

I need to make a program to run at startup of windows instead of windows Explorer. How can I stop exploring to run at startup. also, I need the program to start without asking permission that is to say without the UAC window burst and ask permission.

    Thank you.

You can go to your control panel to turn off UAC (all programs then automatically have full control administrator rights, which means simply visit a bad website can compromise your PC instantly and infect you).

I don't know how to stop loading Explorer. The old way, I knew I couldn't replace the shell has been removed from XP SP2.

  • Random auto-Chkdsk at startup of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. CHKDSK is also unstable and freezes a lot in doing so.

    Hello

I recently installed Windows 7 64-bit Professional RTM on my Acer Aspire 6920 G computer laptop. I've also updated my OS with the latest patches via Windows Update (critical and recommended updates). However, I've known a few teething problems associated with automated chkdsk in Windows 7.

    My problem:
With all the updates in place, I was starting and stopping my laptop normally. However, a few days earlier, just after the Windows 7 logo splash screen, the chkdsk program automatically has repeatedly randomly proceeded to run. Sometimes, the program freezes and does not meet all keyboard and mouse features, it still freezes when I hit esc during the countdown to cancel to run chkdsk (I have to manually hit the "restart" button to restart). Other times it runs correctly, the entire process took about 30 minutes and there is no error. If it runs successfully, it would not rerun for several reboots. However, chkdsk finally appears again and the process starts all over.

    I tried the things:
    1. I went to reinstall Windows 7 to try to resolve the problem. I deleted the entire partition and did a clean install of Windows 7. Both have been in vain.

    2. I read in several forums and discovered that by changing the registry BootExecute to its default value "autocheck autchk *" for "autocheck autochk / k: C *" I can stop chkdsk from starting automatically. I tried, and this solution has been a success. However, I also fear that if my HARD drive starts to fail, I don't know about it.

So I was wondering what was causing the problem and if there is a real solution, and not just a workaround.

    Thank you
    Yes John

  • Cannot run Microsoft games after upgrading Windows 8 Pro

After you have installed Windows 8 Pro I found my old Microsoft games (Solitaire, etc.) in the Windows.old file and used successfully and Favorites to the start menu.  The next day (after several Windows updates) they would not start in the start menu or from the executable file in the Windows.old folder. Tried to restore the (only) listed restore point but received a message that it cannot restore.  Tried the troubleshooting of compatibility without success. Uninstall the updates and restarted the resolution of compatibility issues, with the same results.  Have right click on executable, open properties and set to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode and run as Administrator without success.  How can I get my games to run on this POS?

I have existing images of Windows 2000 tried to run. I also started an installation of Windows 2000 from scratch. Each time Windows 2000 appears at startup with the | bars progress, but when you get to the end, my Mac everything freezes. I have to hold the power button / stop. So far, Win XP and Windows Vista work fine.

Windows 2000 works with Fusion 5 Pro?

I use a MacBook Pro of the retina with the default settings.

Or, go into the settings for this virtual machine and under Advanced.

change the preferred virtual machine runtime engine for ' Intel VT - x / EFA ", for each of these virtual machines, give you problems.
