After re-formatting computer, cannot run Windows Update on Vista
Well, I recently re-formatted my computer. I bought my computer through Aaron, and they never gave me a recovery disk, until a few weeks ago. My computer was originally came with Windows XP and now I have Vista. Now, I can't start my windows update. It does not give me an error code it keeps just to the search and the search with nothing else coming. I was also playing Second Life before I changed to Vista, and now I can not play because it says that my drivers may need to be updated or reinstall. Other tests show my everything works fine, but I can't find the updates for one of my drivers. I can't get the right code for Vista because I don't have the code for it. I have a very hard time with this. I need some kind of help. Please, I beg you!

We do not know how Vista has been installed on your machine.
Reinstall the access path is normal: Reinstall XP (because that's what was originally on it) > then go to Vista.
I suggest that return you to where you had installed Vista and ask them to install/repair properly.

Cannot run Windows Update on Vista SP1 8024A 000, 0x8000ffff?
Vista Home Premium, SP1, 32-bit, Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000.
It is a Toshiba laptop of 2-3 years I'm trying to reinstall for someone. The original drive died & was replaced. The recovery CD were never done, so the factory records were sent from Toshiba. I tried to reinstall a couple of times now - the same thing every time. I have installed/reinstalled systems for more than ten years now - and this is the first time that I ran across something like this RE: updates. Always ends in error A 8024, 000.
I followed some of the ideas I've seen online, including: rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, running orders to cut services, run a batch file, and then restart the services (those here who have encountered this probably know the fix, I mean), I tried to install the most recent Windows (could not install error 0x8000ffff) Update Agent tried to install the full SP2 that is downloaded on the desktop - go. I checked the internet time was set & work (it is).
It is a completely new installation of Vista. The machine has no antivirus by default - contradictory antivirus program is not a source of distress. Similarly, the first place, I tried to log in after this initial installation is therefore highly unlikely that I got a virus by going directly to MS, out of the box, so to speak, WU...
Help?

8024A 000 error code when you try to run Windows Update on Vista 32-bit
I get the above error when you try to run Windows Update on Vista 32 bit.
I use an Asus laptop and have used the Asus recovery cd.I just replaced the old HD (500 gb) as it failed with a 750 GB HD.I tried the SP1 upgrade to SP2 and this causes a "catastrophic failure".Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank youSamThanks for the support. I got the Asus machine this morning and they have corrected the problem in a few minutes by running a short script. In my view, that it is a common problem with Asus and Western Digital HD. Anyway congratulations to Asus. Here, after the service is impressive.

CODE 80072EFE: cannot run windows update
I had some problems with my computer Windows Vista - Business Office. Here are the ones I've noticed so far.
1. I can't run windows update, I get error code 80072efe when I try.
2. I get continuous popups. Not all the time and not every time I have a Web browser open. Sometimes my browser will open only to Web sites at random, for most of the sites trying to sell me something. I've just close it before it ends even loading and it will be generally fine for awhile.
3. on my desk, I'm going to organize my icons where I want that they around my screen (work icons in a spot programs, browsers/email in another, records of files on my second monitor, etc.) Whenever I restart all my icons automatically group either by date or name, and I have to go through the re-organization. (This one is obviously not really important but I thought that I list all symptoms).
4. I tried to do a system restore, my computer has a restore point when you start if you press F11 on the scree of HP (or enter the boot menu by pressing F8 or F5, etc) and it will not allow me to enter this screen. I can't enter the menu start and any other menu it lists on this screen, but the system restore seems to be disabled in some way.
I tried to run the scan on windows.live.support (or whatever the site is) and he found a lot of problems and 1 question he couldn't solve, so now I'm stuck. I tried running malwarebytes scan and it does not pick up any viruses.
Any suggestions?
Launch TDsskiller (Rootkit removal tool)

After that, restart the computer and check for updates

Blue screen, cannot run Windows Update
I was browsing Reddit when all of a sudden my laptop decided NOPE and closes everything down to make an update. It was 03:00 so I wasn't thinking straight and closed on the rise and went to bed. The next day, while in the class my phone showed me a blue screen with some writing for everything... long enough not to read what was then asked if I wanted to start in different security modes. I thought that this could be because I interrupted an update and I tried to run Windows Update, but it will still not open. I can't access anything whatever, and I have a paper in four days... Help, please!

Cannot run Windows Update. Keeps saying to re-record the files but nothing helped.
Funny but I seem to just receive this error message when I run windowsupdate.com
"Files required to use Windows Update are longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue:
Click option 1: register or reinstall the files for me now (recommended)
Click on option 2: Let me read on other measures that may be required to solve the problem. »By clicking on option 1 sets as it is something useful, then goes back to the screen Windows Update offering Express (recommended) or custom. Whichever you choose, it sends you back to:
"Files required to use Windows Update are longer registered or installed on your computer. "To continue:By clicking on the option 2 doesn't send you a place that helps you solve the problem, it sends you to a screen where you can "SEARCH FOR YOURSELF" from scratch!
I tried a few solutions as re-register DLL files, but not to prevail. It has not changed.
I tried force windows update agent installation, but nothing works. It's really frustrating.
I am running on a Windows 2003 Std Edition Server. "I would have preferred direct product. Any day. And twice on Sunday. "Director Steven Spielberg
What are the files DLL have you tried re - record exactly?
Have you tried to register MSXML3?
"regsvr32 msxml3.You can also try to run the "sfc/scannow" command and let Windows try to repair system files.
