Cannot save as reduced size PDF

Since I've upgraded to Mac OS 10.11, I can't save in PDF of reduced size in Acrobat Pro.  There is no error message, but after you rename the file in the Save to the size reduced PDF format, no file appears and Acrobat does not pass through the compression process, as he has done before update to OS 10.11.  Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi matthewh89382444,

Acrobat X is not compatible with Mac OS 10.11, functionality may or may not work.

This is the reason why we recommend to use the application is a compatible environment.

Kind regards
Nicos

  • Need help: Acrobat Pro XI - reduced size PDF vs PDF optimized

I hope that some of you people can help me, I can't contact Adobe customer service.  I've recently updated to Acrobat Pro XI.  In my old version of Acrobat Pro, I used to be able to take a large PDF file (let's say 10 MB) and shrink considerably down with relative ease (less than 1 MB).  The file could then be easily sent, share, read, and especially don't take tons of hard drive space.  With this new version of Acrobat Pro XI, this same file of 10 MB barely reduced up to 7 or 8 MB.  I played with different settings in either the file-> save as others-> PDF of reduced size and File-> Save As-> optimized other PDF.  No matter what I try, I can't reach anywhere near the same compression results than what I used to be able to achieve with my older version of Pro.  I can get the file size reduced, but the reduced quality of the file is trash.

Has anyone else has this problem as well?  Anyone of you have any suggestions on what to do to fix?  I have mainly to scan a document in PDF with my HP OfficeJet Pro and then reduce the size of the PDF file after the scan.  I could scan the document with DPI lower initially (currently scan 300 dpi in grayscale), but then I have not the quality of the scanned image I need to reduce the file down so that it can later be reprinted at a good enough quality.

Leonie... I could have thought of it!  Don't have time to play with it now, but try this out.  Open large PDF you want to shrink in size.  Go to view-> tools-> processing of documents.  There should be a toolbar that opens on the right side of the screen next to the document.  One of the selections will be in PDF format to optimize.  When I did, I got a 12 MB document reduce less than 1 MB!  You can play with the slider to choose a smaller / more low quality vs a bigger / better quality.  I don't know why they hid this feature here, but I think that's what we are looking for.  I highlighted the command and dragged to my main toolbar to make it easier to access next time.

Hope this helps!  I would like to know how it works for you.

  • How can you save a full-size pdf page?

I'm trying to save a page in a PDF or export a page from a pdf file, but it seems that the only options are the whole pdf rather than being able to select a specific page.

You can retrieve pages with Adobe Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader.

  • Cannot save PDF as reduced file size.  Help!

    Hello

I use Acrobat XI (Version 11.0.07) on an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  Both are 2015 models, high spec running OSX El Capitan.

I was always able to create PDF files and save them in PDF of reduced size.  However, ea lot of time I now try to save a PDF file in smaller size PDF format I get a warning of Conversion window popping up saying "Please check if you have permission to write to this location and have enough disk space."

I get the same message on both computers.  I am the only person who uses, have full administrator permissions and there are more than enough disk space on them.  I can always create original PDFs in Acrobat.  It won't let me back up files smaller.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks in advance...

    Nick

Here is the solution for it:

Go to: editing, preferences, Documents and change the display/a mode forever.

  • Functions optimized PDF and PDF of reduced size reel after update

    Adobe Acrobat X for Mac

    Update version: 10.1.16

I recently updated Acrobat X and now I am unable to save as optimized documents or PDF of reduced size. The options are available in the menu and a dialog box appears asking to file name and path optimized file access, but Acrobat will not spool. I use it at work everyday to reduce the file size of the proposals that we send - this is a major drawback.

I checked and unchecked different options in optimization options files - he saved once when I chose only 'Images' and 'clearing '. When I tried again with the same configuration on another file, I came across the same issue I had before.

    Help, please!

    Hi vaughanwoodruff,

I'm sorry, but Acrobat X has not been tested on El Capitan.

I suggest you use a supported (Acrobat XI or DC) for your operating system version to avoid these problems.

    Hi MASPAdministrator,

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows XP forum.

I have updated to DC (about a month) and cannot save my PDF files more.  What is the cause of the dialog box "Save as" do not open?

    Hi mwebsterdps-sc,.

    Try this: -.

The default "Save as" dialog Acrobat DC is different from the dialogue box you had in earlier versions of Acrobat, it also allows you to record in the clouds and previous locations that you saved the files. It is possible that when Acrobat tries to connect to the 'cloud', it runs into problems. You can try to disable this feature to see if this brings your backup in the back of the box: open Acrobat Edit menu access-> Preferences, then go to the "General" category and uncheck "show the online storage when you save files:

I would like to know if it works.

If you run suitcase, try to remove the plugin of automatic activation and see if it behaves better.

  • Could not save file under Reduced Size!

I can't save a ~ 2 MB as size using Acrobat Pro X 10.1.3. I spared smaller files in a reduced size. Why is this? I called Technical Support and left a message for a reminder to hopefully solve this problem quickly. I was reminded in two minutes about, I held for a while, and then I was disconnected without talking to anyone!

    Thank you.

I thought I should finally mention that Acrobat X Pro just didn't shrink after selecting the size reduced. I still called Technical Support and found that I had to do an OCR of the document and which corrects the problem. Apparently some graphics or pictures caused a problem, I understand.

    Thank you.

  • Cannot save to PDF 7.2 after upgrade to 9.0

    Hello once again, editors.

7.2, we used systematically save to PDF without problem. Now that we also have FM 9 on our systems, however, it appears that the latest Distiller has replaced the old (one that has worked well with 7.2) because now trying to save to PDF (in FM 7.2), we often have problems. It all seems very random, and we are at a loss on the understand.what that happens, why, or how to fix.

The symptom is a FrameMaker error saying "failed to start Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF file."

    • A double click of acro.exe does not distill - nothing happens. (Cannot open acrodist.exe or acrotray.exe under any circumstances.)
    • Printing .ps and double-clicking the .ps file sometimes works, sometimes not.
    • Delete the files .tps and other backups sometimes works, sometimes not.
    • Save to PDF the retry several times sometimes works, sometimes not.

We have three tech writers have similar configurations: we use XP, have all the latest patches of FM, plenty of RAM, etc..

I hope that the answer is not "get rid of 7.2 and use only 9.0" - our deadlines are such that it is difficult to work only in the new version. The user interface is different and some features are different, so the learning curve will be at least a little time.

Is it so simple that took to re - install the 7.2 version of Distiller? Even though we specifically asked that they leave FrameMaker 7.2 when installing 9.0, we didn't talk to distill, which was apparently crushed.

If anyone has any experience with this issue, your opinion is welcome.

    TIA,

    Gay Alston

If you have problems to save it as a PDF, you can always go to the reliable, print to Adobe PDF. This works.

I can't save a file in PDF format, although I have Adobe Acrobat installed. When it goes to print screen, it freezes and finally opens (not responding), every time. How can I fix it?

    Hello

    1. What is the format of the file you're trying to save in PDF format?

    2. What is the full and exact error message?

    3. the problem only occurs for a particular file?

    4. the problem occurs for a particular Web site?
