Cannot save WIN - XP with valid product key...
IdHello - I read the Board of Directors and all the information is very useful - but I came to a difficult situation with a reinstall of Windows XP on a HP6230 I. I have my product key and got up to have MS confirm it is a legitimate product key but I can't activate on my machine :-(
They told me on the phone that its something that's easy to fix, but I would have to pay the $59.99 to open a ticket to do fix - OR - go to the knowledge base for more information. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Have you installed using media supplied by HP? If so, then no product key is needed and the operating system is preactivated by HP. If no, then you use a manufacturer OEM generic system disk for the version of XP provided with the system. You use the product key on the COA sticker on the computer and would need to activate it yourself. Otherwise, you would need to use a commercial full version of XP and use the product key on the sticker of the orange of the CD case.
What kind of CD did you install? MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

There are a few problems with previous Windows 8 and 8.1 media. Can you check your editing in system properties, and then download Windows 8.1 with update 1 as a .iso and create installation media?

I had to wipe my hard drive due to a battle lost by a virus. My installation of XP Pro SP2 disk disappeared, so I used my XP Pro SP3 OEM disc to install Windows. When I used my valid product key XP Pro SP2 I was shocked to receive an invalid product key. I always ran Microsoft Genuine product and would like to know how to reach a genine advantage accreditation with my present prediciment. Any help would be appreciated and we thank you in advance.
Hi KevinDitner,I'm afraid, but you can't do that. Your product key Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) should be used only for the laptop which came with it.You can get the CD of Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (SP2) by contacting the Support team customer Microsoft.More information on: -
Activation of the product with the product key valid for windows XP

Can not activate Win 8 - reports of problems with the product key
Hi all
I have just downloaded 8 Win and tried to upgrade my existing Win 7 Home Premium VM, which I run on VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 on my Intel MacBook Pro 2009. I wasn't able to do the upgrade in place - the installer told me that it was not possible to run Win 8 on this machine. Instead, I created a. ISO file and used to install Win 8 in a new virtual machine. Everything works fine, but I can't activate Win 8. The error message tells me that "something is wrong with the product key" even if I could install Win 8 with the same fine product key.
I called various hotlines MS today but don't have anything got no solid advice. Am I the only one who experience this issue? Is there something I need to pay attention during installation of the virtual machine to win 8? Is it possible to install a fresh VM with a key product upgrade in the first place? I would appreciate any information you might have on this subject.
Thank you in advance and Bravo,
Georg

unreadable...Is it possible to get it back by, my laptop series No, or...
Best regards, TOSHIBA
IM bluebird.jeffHello, Jeff
At first, I must say that it is not toshiba Help Center, but user forum created by Toshiba, so if you wait for the response from Toshiba people here you are in the wrong place.
In any case, in this forum, you can pick up some very useful information and a lot of people here can help you with your problems.Return to described the issue.
Unfortunately you do not understand how it works with the product key and Windows Setup, so I'll try to help you with this.
Each computer toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and the product key at the bottom of your laptop belongs to this version. With other words: when you buy the new laptop, you have to pay for hardware, operating system and a license for this preinstalled OS. Product key at the bottom is not a kind of universal product key and cannot be used for activation of another version of Windows. You can use the delivered Toshiba recovery disc that contains mage replicated several times and each time you will have activated the operating system. When you use the Microsoft disk for the installation of the OS you must have valid product key which belongs to this particular version.
In your case product key is for Vista, and you cannot use it for Win7 activation. This product key is... unnecessary.
If you have any other questions you are welcome.

My friend gave a laptop computer whose OS is Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. I format the computer and install a Windows Vista Home Premium I have for my desktop computer. Now, I have a problem with a product key. When I start the laptop, it indicates a product key requirement. I enter my desktop OS product key, but I still see the declaration valid product key. My question is this. If I buy the upgrade to Windows 7, the operating system will work in the laptop even if she has a problem with the product key. If I buy Windows 7 upgrade, there will be no problem with the product key? Or do I have to buy a new Windows Vista Home Premium for the laptop? Or if you know anywhere I can buy a product key for Windows Vista with a reasonable price? Thank you
You cannot transfer a license from another computer to another computer, especially if the license came with this machine. You will need to purchase a new license.
Yes, you can purchase a license of Windows 7 Edition upgrade Home Premium and use it.
Where can I still get Windows 7?

Windows XP Home edition has crashed - how to return WXP and use with the product key?
Hello. I bought an Equium L20 last year and after 1 year my windows crashed due to a virus. I want to know how to get a real windows xp OS because the product under my laptop key is always saved for me and is a legitimate product but I can't get windows because it was obviously preinstalled and no CD was given to me with the package.
How can I get back Windows to use with my product key on my WIN sticker below my laptop.
Hello
First of all, it is very strange that recovery CD is not delivered with your laptop. It's hard to believe, but anything is possible. As you know after buying a new product, it is very important to check all orders sent with it and if something is missing, you must call the local as soon as possible and not to wait a year.
Sorry but this key code belongs to original recovery image and you can't use it with every installation of Windows XP Home edition CD. In your case, there are two options:
-You can buy the CD of facilities Microsoft original WXP (with the key correctly code) or
-Contact the partner of service allowed in your country and order the new CD from recovery for your laptop model. All that s!
Bye and good luck!

I have a valid product key for Vista Home Pemium. How can I get this drive?
I have an Acer Aspire 5610 and my hard drive died. I need to reinstall windows, but have no disk. I have a valid product key for Vista Home Pemium. How can I get this drive? Acer sells not more the disc for this model.
Hello
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
As Acer does not have them, you have to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html
See you soon.

I have an Acer Aspire 3100 computer laptop comes with Windows Vista, I am not on the number of bits, sure that the processor in this system supports 64-bit operating systems. I was curious to know if there was a way for me to download Windows Vista from Microsoft online and burn it to a CD or a DVD if I have a valid product key supplied with the system. Is it possible to do this? Thank you.
You can not download Vista.
In this case, you may be able to buy Acer recovery disks, if you have not created some when you first the computer.
If you can borrow a Vista DVD (a copy retail, not supplied by manufacturer), you can reinstall since using your product key.
